We went in the Steak restaurant the service was great and the food was good the rooms were very well cleaned and they changed the sheets 3 times a week and we had clean towels every day There was plenty to do if you wanted to do it They tried to get you into timeshare tried to get you to give your card details then when you said you was not interested they did not bother you again

We went at the end of May for our honeymoon. Had an amazing time although it rained half of the time we were there.
The food was gorgeous loads to choose from.
Pools were amazing.
Clean rooms.
Nice man made beach.
Couldn't fault anything. (Apart from the time share sellers avoid them)
Would definitely go back. :-)

We had the opportunity to stay at the Royal Club at the Xcaret. The food and staff were wonderful. Valerie was so helpful with all the little details. All our needs were taken care off. We had adult children who also stayed at the resort. What is so nice there is something to do for all ages. We snorkeled, went to the Xcaret Xplorer, and to the Park. One evening we went into town to Coco Bongos so you can see if you have a family of different ages all can find something to do. Staying at the hotel you can walk to the Xcaret Park, and then if tired go back to your room or pool take a break and then return to the park. So nice for families. When we were laying by the pool, our drinks and snacks served to us, then hors d overs would be served occasionally. Several choices of restaurants for all food tastes and preferences. You will not go hungry.
As the parents of adult children we would recommend the Royal Club. It is nice to reach the stage in life to pamper yourself!

Room Tip: We liked the Royal Club. But we did not have any young children with us. I think if I had children...

We loved this holiday, there was so much to do. The eco park was incredible and we went on trips to Chichen Itza and Hel- ha. The hotel also organised for us all the swim with dolphins at Xcaret.
Great hotel, good food and good service.

I just got back from Occidental Grand Xcaret yesterday. I went with my boyfriend. This is NOT a party resort so if you're looking to expect some crazy parties don't come here it's more of a family friendly/ couples resort. This isn't really a bad thing in 22 years old and i actually preferred it because it was more quite and relaxing than most resorts. The resort is located in the middle of a jungle so you will see random animals like iguanas, deer , some other animals i never knew existed roaming around the resort so don't be alarmed! I actually think they are so use to seeing so many people everyday they got used to it :p.

THE BEACH:
It's a man made beach, so if your looking for a really big beach area then you probably won't like it. Plus side there was a beach bar and a buffet restaurant ontop of the rocks which was open for breakfast and lunch then it turns into the seafood restaurant from 6pm- 10pm. The beach had a lot of fishes you could swim with and it was pretty deep so overall i give the beach a 7.5 ( just cause i prefer a bigger beach)

THE RESTAURANTS: ( i should probably say this right now, I'm a major foodie and graduated from culinary school so it's very hard to impress me when it comes to food so this is my opinion )
i give the restaurants a 6/10. This is why... I found it odd that if you are staying for a week you are only allowed 4 reservations at all the 6 restaurants. I guess it's so everyone can get a chance to eat there? If so i guess that's fair. Other than that they had 1 main buffet that served breakfast, lunch , and dinner. It was ok... out of maybe 100 stuff they had i only enjoyed 5? but all i can say was the restaurants were WAY better then the buffets...

If i were too choose the restaurants in order it would be:

1)Italian
2) El pascador
3) La hacienda
4) Sonora steakhouse

i didn't try Mediterranean or oriental. Actually oriental buffet i tried but that was absolutely disgusting. Im asian, and that did not taste like asian food. lol

ROOMS
it's a pretty simple room. It came with a king size and really all the basic stuff. I was located in 18. I would probably suggest going into building 15-17 they have a great pool and it's away from the loud music from the main pool .

EXCURSIONS
From the very beginning i wanted to go to XPLOR but Daniel Villanueva from best day actually found us a better deal for something thats exactly the same. It was called Maya Adventure. It cost $99 per person for zip lining , cave swimming in cenote , ATV , and cave pool swimming/zipling. It cost $99 per person if you share a buggy if not it's $118. It was well worth our money and it was also in small groups and very private!

INTERNET
Omg do not get me started with this... First, it cost $87 a week for internet, $25 a day , $12/hr . It's not even free :S like what is that? But it kinda turned into a good thing because I'm very into my social media and texting and being able to be away from my phone really helped me enjoy this trip much more.

GYM
Gym was fully equipped! It also came with a Personal Trainer to help you. Carlos is his name, i wasn't in the gym as often as my bf but he really enjoyed Carlos company.

Overall i give this resort a 7.5/10 It really is worth the money you pay for.

My family and I just returned from the Occidental Grand Xcaret and enjoyed every minute of our stay! We loved the setup of the resort.....ruins, wildlife, lagoon, just to name a few of the things. Be sure to have Luis in the main lobby bar mix up a drink for you. If you do not know what to get, he will help you with your decision. He is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. Arleth is a waitress in the main lobby seating area. She was on the spot with keeping our drinks (nonalcoholic too) coming with a very friendly disposition. Be sure to eat at the Snack Restaurant (snack bar) and REQUEST to sit in Fabian's serving area. He will take topnotch care of you and make you feel very welcomed! The chef of the Snack Restaurant, Audomaro Kinil, made several dishes for us during our stay. They were very tasty, and we enjoyed his service and chef skills. You must eat here!! Our server at the Steakhouse Restaurant was Rigoberto. Excellent service from him as well. It was my husband's birthday when we ate at the steakhouse, and Rigoberto led all the servers as they sang happy birthday to my husband.
We had unlimited access to Xcaret park next door. Make sure you go here as well because there are so many interesting things to see and do. My family enjoyed going on the Snuba adventure.
We stayed in Building 19 which was right by the pool. A representative from Lomas Travel, Mario Garcia Guerra, was stationed in Building 19 lobby. He was great to work with in setting up an excursion and give us specifics regarding our departure.
This is not a place for you if you want all of your activities, places close together or you are looking for a resort right on the beach. The man made lagoon and diving pools in the rocks made up for this!
The only negative thing I can even think about saying is that they really want you to look at the Royal Club and go on the tour. Just let them know point blank and right up front that you are not interested.
EXCELLENT PLACE TO GO!!

Enjoyed a lovely week away at this resort with a girlfriend. Meals pretty good, rooms acceptable & pools large and warm. Beach was a disappointment although I was aware prior to booking it was manmade.

Best highlight for the resort is it's very close proximity to Playa del Carmen! You can head into town often without a high cost.

Very light pressure on time share but no big deal. May go back again.

Room Tip: probably not a bad room here
