Love it, since the moment you walk in you feel welcome, the staff is great, helpful and happy, something is lost in many hotels, a smile on the staff,. here they just want to help you in aniway possible, the price is good, the room spottless, and has a warming charm, i just love it, definely will be back there over and over, breakfast is great too. so definely is a 100% amazing.

Room Tip: all rooms are great, but ask for the ones upstairs, less noise equals better sleep-

Playa's biggest appeal after the beach is 5th ave. Excellent shopping and lots of cantinas and restaurants by day and on Calle 12 the LOUD party scene. Tucked in along 5th at about 5th street is Hotel Lunata, just 12 lovely rooms. Beautiful comfortable clean and romantic. each room is named for a celestial body. If want a quieter room ask for the interior court yard. Look for the large Orange cat that visits each afternoon to lounge on a sofa in the open air lobby. No elevator and lots of steps may be an issue for some but it adds to the charm.
Have dinner just across the avenue at Mediterrino in the Garden, fantastic family owned. Continental breakfast is quite light so if you require a hearty breakfast there are places near by. A romantic place in a wonderful beach community.

I will definitely return to the Hotel Lunata. It was very clean and well managed. The staff was friendly, helpful, and treats you like family. The hotel is within walking distance of all the fun things to do in Playa del Carmen.

Fantastic Service, clean, nice, cousy, good location, right on the 5TH AV in a very reasonable price range and mexican Flavor, pretty artwork and Mexican decoration, also Continental Breakfast included in the price, super deal.

Room Tip: Room Named Ofelia was the best for us, Garden Balcony.

1-Beauty wise, the hotel is an art work from the inside and the outside. Rooms are not numbered, however, they are named after stars. Which I found very nice as I can tell my friends that I stayed in the Bianca :) instead of room 302.
2-Staff wise, You will feel like home, with people working with you to meet your expectation of the trip. They are very helpful and friendly. And there smile and enthusiasm encourage you to benefit the most of your trip.
3-Cleanleness, Rooms and restrooms are spotless, bed sheets as well. There one small problem though (The sink in my room did not drain fast enough, but I did not bring that to there attention, so I cannot complain).
4-Comfortable, beds are very comfortable. Although one small problem, despite the fact that certain measures were taken to sound prof the rooms, you can still hear the Music from the nearby bar until around 12:00 AM.
6-Breakfast is sweet and simple, however, it is located in a very nice and cozy garden.
7-Frontdesk operate only from 8 AM to 11 PM and all of them speaks fluent English. And there is a Gard that will be in duty from 11 PM to 8 AM, they told me that if there is any problem, the Gurd can call people in charge.
8-Location, Is the best in my opinion. Burger King is next door, with a nearby OXXO (Like 7Eleven). Right on the 5th Avenue, the beach is in a walking distance.
9-Internet service was fast and free. I was able to make Skype call back home with no problems.

There are certainly advantages and disadvantages about being in the centre of town. It's noisy at night time (until about 2am the first night and 5am the second night). If you're a good sleeper or have earplugs it won't be a problem and the hotel itself is lovely. We never made it out of bed for the free breakfast so can't comment on that one but our host Erica was so welcoming and lovely, you feel as if you are in her home. Walk ins get a 10% discount but the hotel is small and fills up fast. Wifi is free and the restaurant Casa Mediterranean is right across the street and is delicious!
