We stayed at the Riu Lupita from 21st April for 2 weeks. We were allocated a room on the ground floor and having read the reviews asked for one on the first or second floor. We were allocated a 2nd floor room backing onto the ‘jungle’, which gave us lots of entertainment watching the birds and animals.
The room had a vaulted ceiling which gave a lovely big room feel. The bathroom was clean, as was the room. The room could be described as basic and could have done with a chair or small settee to relax on. The balcony had a small table and two chairs.
There are two restaurants on the main site and a cafe. There is also a beach bar serving food and drink and it turns into a steak bar in the evening. The beach bus takes you all down there at the same time, it’s like a little trip out.
Dress code is very casual and this I must admit helped us both unwind and chill. The staff went the extra mile when we were there to make cocktails, put on themed meal nights and generally be very attentive.
Food quality and choice was great too.
There was something for at least 10 out of the 14 nights we were there. The acts ranged from great to mediocre. The entertainment staff really gave their all and were great at running the daytime activities.
Reception staff & Housekeeping:
Both very helpful and would go the extra to make sure you had what you needed.
The room - on the plus side you can have a nice cool drink whenever you want to but the downside to that was the noise from air-conditioning and the fridge. There was also a ceiling fan.
We hired a car whilst we were there and found it to be reasonable. Driving was ok and there was lots of checkpoints around and some huge, and I mean huge, sleeping policemen. We didn’t drive at night to be fair so if you do be warned of the huge humps you come across without any notice!
The hotel was just the right size, the staff got to know you as you as there aren’t thousands of guests and give you smiles and happiness at meal times. I can honestly say that the staff were happy and content going about their daily duties. This can make a big difference. We also saw them decorate a few tables for special occassions.
Lots of sunbeds at the pools and the beachside and oh yes, hammocks. I loved them and we bought one to bring home with us.
Lovely time and just what we needed, no stresses or strains, a nice relaxing break.
