We had our Wedding in Playa Del Carmen and Bric was our hotel of choice. They made it feel like a family not just a hotel. The staff was incredible, very helpful and their english was excellent. The breakfast was as good or better than anything available on 5th avenue. It was right in the center of everything. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The rooms were clean and the hotel decor is Awesome. There are larger hotels in Playa but nothing can compare to the staff here, they really care and want to make your stay unforgettable. And the happy hour lets you meet new and interesting other guests... IS THERE A RATING HIGHER THAN 5 STARS BECAUSE THIS PLACE DESERVES IT!

We stayed here in August and had a lovely time. The hotel is clean, around the corner from 5th Ave, a stone's throw from the beach and reception staff were always friendly and extremely helpful. This is a great little budget hotel.

We really enjoyed this hotel. We stayed three nights - Sept 1-3. If you want something close to the beach and 5th Avenue that is clean and secure, you've found it. The hotel is half a block off of 5th Avenue which is just far enough away that you won't be bothered by noise. The walk to the beach is about 3 blocks total - not far at all. The hotel is very small - less than 20 rooms. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was nice (remember it's not a five star resort). It had a refrigerator which is very nice. The balcony was great. The biggest downsides were the bed was hard and the door lock was difficult to use. We swam in the pool which is small but refreshing. Breakfast was good each day. They have someone at the front desk from about 7am-9pm, then the front gate is locked and access is controlled by security. Very safe. The manager of the hotel took time to help us with our car service which was nice of her and we were given access to their computer so we could print our boarding passes for our return flight. A big plus were the beach towels given to us as needed. The grounds are well cared for and the hotel is very cute. This was a good hotel choice - great value.

The hotel is located on Calle 28, which is (in our opinion) the best part of 5th Avenue and also the best part of the beach. I hate being overcharged at the beach clubs, so we brought our soft cooler and filled it with drinks and ice each day. We went to Walmart the first day and bought two cheap beach umbrellas ($10 each). We hit the beach and walked down towards the end (away from the ferry piers). When you make the bend around the beach you'll find one last resort and then it's completely open beach for a couple miles. This was by far the best beach experience we've had in Playa del Carmen!!! Beautiful beach, not many people, perfect water - wow!

For a location just off of the slightly beaten path to be quiet and cozy but still close enough to the best Playa has to offer you can't beat the Bric. The rooms are small but simple and more than adequate for the area, staff very attentive and helpful, and did I mention adorable? I found out about this hotel through a Groupon a friend and I split, but the rates are reasonable even without super deals.
The thing you have to remember about any hotel is that Mexico is still a third world country. Certain amenities just won't be available. The Bric's free breakfast is slightly better than continental fare, the common areas and pool are small. Most rooms have a mini fridge, but linens could be starchy. You can't flush TP down the toilets (not in any toilet, just don't do it!). Not everyone is fluent in English. You will be heckled by local shop owners as you walk by. Don't let this discourage you!! With some of the best restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and beach access within walking distance and free wifi to help you plan it all you really can't go wrong.

Room Tip: There are only 16 or so rooms here, either a king suite or a double suite. Some rooms have actual do...

My husband and I just returned from a 7 night stay at The Bric Hotel. We absolutely loved the staff of the Bric, the beautiful courtyard and the great location!

At first glance, the room apears small- but after a few hours we found that it was cozy and had everything that we needed. The mini-fridge was a huge help. The bed took some adjustment, as it is harder than our bed at home, but after one night this was not a problem. The only drawback of the stay at The Bric was the lack of hot water in the shower. The cool water was refreshing, but it was difficult to shave without warm water.

The staff was completely wonderful. Abril and the other man (sorry, can't remember his name) at the front desk were totally helpful and arranged any type of service that we needed. They called for transportation, arranged for our laundry to be done, scheduled our massages and took a phone message. They recognized us when we walked by the office and would let us know of any appointments or messages. The owners, Kristin and Marcus, were wonderful. Kristin is frequently seen around the hotel and is very helpful with answering questions about Playa, making suggestions and giving ideas. We were impressed by her work ethic, as well. Kristin actually drove us to DAC, the local market, on the first day of our trip! Amazing! When we returned to our room, she had cut coconuts delivered so that we could try drinking the water straight from the coconut. (We had mentioned that this sounded fun).

Finally, we highly recommend using the hotel transport to and from the hotel. This was a fair price and could not have been easier. When you get off of the airplane and face the sea of cabbies and vendors looking for work, it is nice to know that you have everything pre-arranged and will arrive promptly and safely. The return transportation was just as simple- the driver picked us up at the exact time requested and drove us to the airport.

Very helpful and nice staff (goes for receptionists, breakfast area and cleaning personell).
We got great hints as to what to do with our time, were always welcomed with a smile and got everything we needed (for example using the hotels fridge for a magnum bottel of champagne).
I really liked the setup of the hotel, where all the rooms are surrounding a small pool and everything is full of palmtrees and other exotic plants. So it is well protected from the noise that can come off 5th Ave (although the hotel is located at a little less noisy area).
We booked a Deluxe King room and it was great. Walk through the glas door and you step right on the balcony with a table and 2 big chairs. When we came, there was customized organic soap and shampoo with cute wrapping. Not so important, I guess, but it made me smile.
The bed was huge with 2 mattresses, which were perfectly ok.
Come to the price: GREAT Deal!!
I think the only reasons why I did not give 5 points here is that breakfast just got very boring after a few days, even though it was pretty good and you would always get a plate with fresh cut fruit. Another reason would be that I had wished for the bedsheets to be changed more often. Don't get me wrong, everything was super clean and well kept, but we stayed 10 nights and I might be a bit picky on that side. Also the owners of the hotel (American-German couple) are around a lot and encouraged us to let them know anything we needed at all times, so we could have just mentioned it.
All in all: Playa del Carmen is amazing with a lot of opportunities to make daytrips (we rented a car for the time, but there is also busses) and the hotel was a gem! We were very happy to have stayed there and to explore the entire Riviera.

It's really small hotel which consists of 14 rooms (sort of that). Everywhere greenery around the pool. Rooms are simple but have all necessary. Free wi-fi really helped us to schedule our activities (worth noting many hotels have very expensive rate to this service). Helpful staff, daily room, pool, rest area cleaning. Nice location - at a distance of 30 steps near by 5th avenu but even at night there are very quietly in hotel unlike hotels which are located directly at 5th avenu. Near by hotel (at a distance of 15 steps) there are American car rental office where we rented a car and everything was great.

We have found only one lack: we spent 15 days in the bric hotel. And everyday we had the same breakfast. Day by day pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs... But it is not the worst thing that could happen, needless to say you can go to eat whereever you want. In general if you looking for place where can you stay in playa del carmen - the bric hotel nice choose.
