My family and I really enjoyed our experience at Fishermen's. It had a very relaxing atmosphere, the beaches were stunning, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. The bartenders had a great sense of humor and at dinner time restaurant manager Viridiana's bright attitude and beautiful smile was appreciated by everyone in my family. The only thing that I would change is the pillows ! (they were hard as rocks) But we all had a truly great time and I would certainly recommend Sunset Fishermen to anyone.

As usual, our stay at Fishermen's Village was a very enjoyable experience. The facility is well maintained, and the updating and remodeling appears on schedule. Also, as always the staff were all excellent: Marcial, Luis, Anselmo, Jesus, Andrit, the cleaning staff, front desk, service, and everyone else. The guys did a great job of keeping the beach clean and beautiful.

If I had any complaint at all,it would be that the volleyball net and soccer goals being left out all the time distracted from the beautiful views of the ocean and sunsets.

My husband and I have been vacationing at Fisherman's Village for the last 8 years and we absolutely love it! We feel like family when we come down due to how caring, accomodating and attentive the staff are to us. We have made lasting friendships that we cherish with so many of the employees that I can't even begin to name all of them. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the beach is one of the best in the region. The pool is fresh and the hot tub was warm and inviting. It is wonderful to be tucked away in the private and beautiful Playacar that has unique homes surrounding by lush greenery and flowers and cobble stone streets and trees in the middle of the little road that is fun to swerve around and we meander thru. Mayan ruins are all over and in front of the hotel there is a little path leading to one that also allows you to explore through the jungle a bit and come out in a beautiful upscale neighborhood close to shops. We saw all kinds of fauna and flora while walking thru the little jungle path. We have done the meal plan before and loved it. Also plenty of grocery and dining options for those who prefer non-inclusive which we choose to do frequently with the full kitchens provided in our room. Fisherman's gives guests the option of also alternating and doing a little of both. White powder beach, electric aqua blue water, pool and hot tub, swim up bar, small quaint setting, friendly and attentive service...we couldn't ask for more! Janet and Ray Van Why

Room Tip: Choosing a master suite room on the left side on the 2nd floor gave full view of the beach and pool...

I just came home from Fishermen's and cannot wait to go back! If you are going down to Mexico to swim in the ocean, play on the beach and swim, this is the resort for you. It is not the largest or nicest (newest) but it has the best view of the ocean. The white sandy beach is awesome and you can swim in the pool and have a full view of the beautiful blue/green ocean! All of the employees are fantastic. David and Luis run the activities and are fun and enthusiastic! The week kicks off with a Mexican Fiesta! We loved the bartender named Jose' Velazquez and Angel and Ricardo. Another helpful, friendly person is Shawnalie. She was courteous and helpful in many ways! Marco "Polo" was another friendly employee who was helpful. Everyone makes you feel at home! If you are needing a massage, Vickie is absolutely the best! :) There are daily activities at the resort, but it is so close to downtown Playa that it is the BEST of both worlds. Our family cannot wait to go back! Thank you Fishermen's!

We spent a day at Sunset Fisheman because it is a sister resort to Hacienda Tres Rios. This resort is awesome! If you are looking for a place for you and your family to relax and simply enjoy the beautiful beach then this is the place for you. It's also very close to 5th avenue in Playa Del Carmen where you can walk and enjoy restaurants and shopping.

When you arrive at your destination after a very long flight and hear the words, "Welcome home" from an employee of the hotel, you know that the rest of the holiday is going to be good.
Obviously we had been to Fishermen's before - we own time there - but then again some things might change over the years and one can never be certain of repeating two weeks in paradise. But we did!!
Fishermen's position, on the quiet Caribbean beach is unequalled. No matter what the season there is never competition for sun loungers and with the addition of new furniture there are now at least three types from which to choose...so a positive change here then.
Wandering the private residential estate or walking along the beautiful beach to Playa del Carmen provides daily exercise and a thirst for the all-inclusive cocktails! Certainly no change there!.
We found that a number of staff had changed but all of them appeared happy and were always respectful...so thankfully this had remained the same.
Thanks to all the bar staff, especially the one who reintroduced me to a cocktail I had not had for 41 years. He made it from a very bad description of contents I gave him. Thanks for the attentiveness from all of the restaurant staff and to the men who cleaned the large area of private beach each and every day before most of us were up!! Thanks also to the maids for their daily service.
And so it is difficult to single out employees but for particular reasons... I will.
Marcel, the doorman (who has been at Fishermens probably longer than anyone else) and remembers our name on each occasion we visit. His warm smile and eagerness to please must make him the best 'meet and greet' man in Mexico.
Betsy, the chef, who prepared a special meal for my wife and I that rivalled any other meal we have ever eaten! Her cooking skills were only equalled by those of the presentation for each of the dishes. Superb!
Pablo Vaequez, from client services, was frequently on hand to help owners get the best from their investment and with quiet efficiency, he was of great help.
Luis and David provide on-site activities as listed in other reviews but what we liked was that there was an invitation to join in but never any coersion. Nor were these activities obtrusive to those who were near-by. There are times, we have found, at other resorts where the entertainment is too loud and is seen to be the most important activity - probably because the providers see themselves as being of most importance! Fishermens is thankfully not like that and whilst we have seen the number of activities increase over the years it has not had a negative impact on the overall tranquil feel of the resort. If you want busier and livlier resorts then go to Sunset Lagoon or Sunset Royal in Cancun. Well done Luis and David - professionally organised with thought for all of the guests. Please keep it like that.
And finally but most importantly I mention the newly appointed manageress, Danae and her assistant manager Marcos. I met them within the first few minutes of our arrival and they always took time to speak and help where required throughout our holiday. Fortunately, the resort is small enough, for staff who take the trouble, to remember names.
Danae in particular is good at this. She is always to be seen out and about in all areas of the resort talking to both staff and guests. She is a people person and keen to elicit the views of her guests. Danae has brought about changes to the resort which have built on its positive attributes whilst still retaining a friendly, personal service within a quiet and peaceful location.
I trust that she will be able to progress some of the physical parts of the resort that she wishes to address but never to lose sight of the fact that this quiet paradise, hidden away from hustle and bustle of Playa del Carmen , is the very reason so many guests return so frequently.
Please do not change that.
See you soon.
Stuart L

The reason we keep coming back to Fisherman's Village every year is because this is located behind a gated, upscale residential community, which is extremely safe & it is right on a most beautiful beach, with the ocean only steps away. It is a small place, which we also like. Luis Ramos, Activity Director & David (new this year) are great. So much fun things to participate in or just laze around too - whatever you wish to do. We usually do not take the meal plan as we like to walk into Playa & eat locally. I understand there is talk of a pizza oven to be built in the near future. If it is half as good as at Hacienda Tres Rios we will definitely dine there. We have already booked & paid for next year. Love this place!
