My husband and I spent Christmas week here and it was heavenly. We have been coming here for 12 years, have travelled the world, but always love to return here. Staff are incredible and greet us by name when we return. Good has improved dramatically. It is only a 15 minute walk to town where there are fabulous restaurants. The resort is small and intimate giving you the opportunity to meet people. We will return in March and are counting down the days. We love Fisherman Resort!

Everybody served us with an splendid smile and kindness. Every single drink or meal was made and serve with love and kindness. All the staff was helpful, kind always giving the best of themselves, exceeding our expectations.
Luis, Vicky and Naomi were excellent, our experience in the spa and massages were outstanding, giving with love, dedication and professionalism at all times.
Rosita always impressed us with her towels decorations, Joaquin and Nelson kept our room impeccably clean. Jorge Moyorga,Consuelo, Benjamin,Sandy , Alejandro, Jose Velazquez and Felipe were wonderfully helpful, always smiling and very efficiently serving all guests, giving the best service, we ever had in any other place. We remembered also Freddy, he was just begging to work at the hotel, he kept always trying his best practicing his English asking to be taught to improve it.

The chefs Betsy and Armando were brilliant proving amazing tasty and well presented food. Betsy was extremely kind and helpful, proving special food to my daughter, making her feel at home. Wendy and Ivan, always working hard making sure we were well attended, making us feel as their slogan/ badge "estas en tu casa".

We highly recommend this hotel, the beach is stunning, the location is outstanding, being there is like a dream, all these people make it all much better, because the dedication, love, kindness and attention to detail they all put into their work is really admirable.

Room Tip: Rooms with view to the sea are much better than rooms facing hotel entrance. Rooms with Jacuzzi on...

We are fractional owners of Hacienda Tres Rios which is another Sunset Resort and this allows us to also make use of their other resorts, one being Fishermen's Village. We love the beach and the intimacy of a smaller boutique style hotel. Only a 10 min walk along the water's edge to Playa del Carmen and very safe to walk at night as well. Not a bunch of noisy hotels surrounding you which we like. Food was good and variety was good [much better than any other all inclusive we have been to] although after 2 wks we had hoped for a change in menu. Room we had was large enough, private balcony facing the ocean and very quiet [we were in a separate building from the main hotel which we liked.] Staff were excellent! Very friendly and accommodating. We especially enjoyed the waiters Benjamin, Filipe and Aiden. Andie, the conceriege was also most helpful.....all the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home.We will go back there but perhaps for only 1 wk and spend the rest of our time at Hacienda Tres Rios, which is an outstanding resort.

My girlfriend and I spent a lovely girls week at this resort for one week each of the last two years. Many of the staff were there from last year and welcomed us back as if we are part of the family. It is not the newest resort in the area but it is very well kept, the employees take great pride in their jobs and try hard to please you and this has to be the best beach area in Playa del Carmen!! It is wonderful! The bartender Jesus, our waiters Adan and Freddy, and our maid Ismael took wonderful care of us! While we were there many people from the sister resorts were there to enjoy the lovely beach area. The people who stay there are like a family that welcomes in the new members eagerly!

Room Tip: We loved the rooms nearest the beach but this is a small resort and nothing is very far from the bea...

We had a great 10 days at Sunset Fishermen. Very nice, small number of (60±) rooms, intimate facility. One of the pools was "adults only" and was a big plus. Within easy walking distance to shopping (5th Ave.) Ask for Jose in the restaurant. He's the best! My wife loved the spa.

Room Tip: We especially loved the ocean view - pool view suite.

Fisherman's Resort was a likable little place. My husband and I traveled there with our four month old. Beautiful beach, nice pool layout, and delicious food and drinks. The rooms were a little dated in decor but clean and kept. Our building was separate from the main lobby which was a nuisance when we wanted to go to dinner in a rain storm. There were also lots of steps and an elevator that didn't work so well. Made traveling around with our infant difficult at times.

The staff was very friendly. Alejandro Yanez was far and above our favorite server. We always felt that we were his first priority. He helped us with our Spanish, advised us on the most popular and tasty items on the menu, and sincerely took the time to get to know us and make us happy. I also got a massage at the spa. Listening to the ocean and wind was a perfect setting. My masseuse (I can't remember his name) was sweet and kind, and gave a wonderful Swedish massage. If we were rating the resort on Alejandro and the masseuse's service alone it would've gotten 5 stars.

The location of the resort is great. Gorgeous beach and teal blue waters with the Cozumel skyline in the distance. It's only a ten minute walk to playa del Carmen and the ferry. You can use the beach or the sidewalk.

I would recommend this resort for a low key, relaxing vacation. Just be warned it's not very physically friendly for those in a wheelchair or with a stroller. Especially during the rainy season.

We have stayed here three times in the past 8 years, most recently December 2013. The service is consistently very good. Our Concierge, Andreina, was very helpful. We were happy to see several staff still there after many years. Returning to the property was like a homecoming. The staff are helpful and work to address/resolve any questions or issues. The accommodations vary - some rooms have been updated and some have not. We were very happy to note this year that the mattresses are improved, in the past were too firm for comfort, but this year was very comfortable. The spa staff are consistently good and we have great spa experiences there. The location is excellent - right on the beach, and a 10 minute walk from the beginning of Fifth Avenue. The food is alright, but not exceptional in any way. We don't buy the all-inclusive, since there are wonderful restaurants in town and the pricing for the all-inclusive is very expensive.
