This was a last minute booking and it turned out to be suprisingly comfortable and cute. The location is right by the beach although there is now a club out front so it was loud until 6am on a Saturday night which is not good for light sleepers. The man at reception was very friendly and had security cameras installed which he checked and played back daily. Our bed was really comfortable and although we didn't use it the pool looked clean yet small.
Great for price and location, especially during the week.

If you want to have a great relax staying Rosa Mirador is located between best Playa clubs, restaurants, stores and sea. I was there with friends and parents, each one different room, Dad and Mom were great at night, we went to the street for having fun, everything close.
That is like being at small town with good service and cheap.

I've stayed at the Rosa for years, and in just about every room (including the 4 bed suite). It is very simple w/o many amenities, but for the price is fantastic! I've never been one to like being caged in by a resort and love to adventure. With the hotel being 500 feet from the beach and accessable to just about everything Playa Del Carmen has to offer, I absolutely love it!
In the past few years a club went up right out front of the Rosa (not sure if it's still there this year), but it makes for a loud night, so if you're a light sleeper, you might not want to stay on the beach in Playa (because every block has a bar that plays loud music until 4am).
I've stayed here with my parents, girlfriend, and just friends in general and have never had any trouble with break-ins, bugs, or water issues.
If you're smart when you travel you lock up your valued belongings when you're not in your room and when you sleep and definitely lock your doors!

I have stayed at the Rosa Mirador 5 times in the last 4 years.

It is a small hotel with about 15 rooms, One large suite (with 4 beds; two in loft area, kitchen, 1 1/2 baths, sitting area, large windows with ocean view).
Rooms are no-nonsense - clean, air-conditioning, safe deposit box. A room w/two beds will run about $50 U.S. per night at high season.

Hotel is directly across from the beach where you can rent a lounge chair, table & umbrella for $5 U.S. a
day.

The hotel collects the fee for your room at time of check out. Not when you check in as most hotels do.

Management at Rosa Mirador is at the front desk until Midnight. I've never felt unsafe at this hotel.

If you are looking for a resort, this is not the
place for you. If you are looking for a nice, clean, no-nonsense hotel near the beach and you don't want to spend a great amount of money, then I would recommend this hotel for you and your friends.

PDC has been rapidly growing in the last 4 years. There is security all over the area, including the beach. Playa is a great place to visit and if you have
the time, venture past 5th Avenue and visit the local restaurants and shops.

I stayed here in April 2005, slightly off-season. I needed a cheap place to stay while taking a scuba course. At $30US per night it filled the bill.

The room I had was on the garden floor (charming but simple garden), had a fan and air conditioner, thru-ventilation (windows on both sides) and a decent bed. The room was clean, though a little worn. Everything in the room worked -- after I reminded the clerk to turn on the hot water heater.

Only real negative is the noise from the Blue Parrot bar area down the street, which one can drown out with the white noise of the air conditioner fan.

I considered it a real value for $30US per night, even in the off-season.

The hotel is very simple, with nice rooms. We stayed at the 2-story suite for a week on this past Easter holidays. We found SEVERAL cochroaches and a lot of ants, mosquitoes, etc. It is conveniently located but without any amenities and old facilities. The bathrooms never worked properly and has no elevator (3rd floor).

On our last night, while we were sleeping, somebody got inside our suite and robbed us, they took wallets, watches, cell phones, cash, 2 kites (for kite surfing), backpacks, etc. Terribly dissappointing.

Think twice on going to this hotel when you will never know what to expect from it.
