Stayed here while on business. Beautiful area. Staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel chain very tech saavy. Any issues addressed immediately. A small resort easily navigated. Not a big fan of mega resorts. This is not one of them. Very accessible. Loved the football games projected on the outside wall of the hotel.
Grab a chaize lounge and bring me a drink. Great entertainment.

My wife and I just got back from our vacation and this was a great one indeed. We typically stay at sandals properties but decided to try secrets or this time. From the time we got there we were greeted by a helpful staff that was extremely attentive and accommodating. The activity team was great. Victor, Alberto, Jonathan, Jorge and Jesse were fun. Don't miss the shows either.

There was only one negative to our stay. After check-in we were turned over to an employee pushing us to sign up for a vacation time share type meeting. It took fifteen minutes too convince him we weren't interested.
This was our first experience with an adults only resort and it was very enjoyable.
The pool was large and, like every other aspect of the hotel and grounds, spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained.
The white sand beach was groomed several times a day and the water warm and inviting. No waves so if bodysurfing is your aim this is not the place for you. There were lounges and umbrellas provided.
We had stayed at the Barcelo previously. This is more expensive but well worth it. The difference in the food quality alone is amazing. While there is one buffet all the other restaurants are sit down and order.
I had prawn risotto that was better than I'd had anywhere else.
Finally, the service was fantastic. A great experience.

My husband and I went to the Secrets Capri Riviera for a relaxing vacation, and the hotel lived up to our expectations. We read the reviews of the hotel prior to booking and for the most part agreed with them.
The staff is absolutely amazing! They made us feel welcome from the minute we walked through the door. They were always there to answer questions, entertain, serve and pamper. We would like to especially thank Denisse from the entertainment crew who genuinely cared about making our stay memorable. We will always remember her fondly. We would also like to thank Arturo at the Ceviche Bar who ensured that our service went smoothly and who remembered us from day to day. Lastly Mariel at the Rendezvous Bar availed herself to us every evening, was charming and knew exactly what we were drinking. Housekeeping was excellent although I cannot remember any names, and we never had bad service at any of the restaurants. I give them all an A plus!
The accommodations are fine. We had a Deluxe Oceanview room on the left side of the hotel if you are looking toward the ocean. Because the building housing Oceana and the Seaside Grill is on that side, it restricts the view. I recommend staying on the right side if possible. Also, if you are used to air conditioning in the US, you will be disappointed. There is air conditioning in the rooms, but it cannot be turned down past a certain level. We were comfortable sleeping under a sheet, but if you like it cooler, you will be disappointed. It would have been more comfortable had there been a ceiling fan. Some reviewers complained about the glass bathroom door, but I did not find it an issue. Our minibar did not cool but we hardly used it and when we did, we used ice from the machine outside.
The food is delicious with a couple of exceptions. Having eaten ceviche many times, I was disappointed in the ceviche at the Ceviche Bar, but I did find other items that were enjoyable. We ate at Portofino twice and loved the food. I recommend the lobster and shrimp pasta in the white wine sauce! Himitsu was excellent too. We ate off the regular and sushi menu. Oceana would have been perfect had it not been for the lack of air conditioning in the dining room. We had been told by people who had been there the night before that there was an issue with the air, but when we got there, I asked if the air was working. They said it was,so we went inside only to find we were the only ones seated there. After five minutes it was so stifling that we asked to sit outside. Unfortunately, it was hot and humid, and being that we were dressed nicely, we found it quite uncomfortable. After spending the entire day in the heat, we want to eat a nice meal in comfort. We ate at the pool grill on the last day. My husband loved his hamburger, and I had some of the best fish with jicama and pineapple slaw. I can still taste it!!!!!
Because of hurricane erosion the distance from the beach to the ocean is quite close, but it is possible to walk quite a distance on either side of the hotel. There is a little bit of seaweed that washes up on the beach, but it is minimal and the hotel staff tries hard to keep it clean. The water is warm and the wave aren't too big that you don't feel safe.
The pool is delightful. There are a few areas where the pool tile is slick so make sure to get in where there are concrete steps. While we were there, the pool didn't get crowded until after lunch so we never had any trouble finding a chair under an umbrella. The pool bar is lots of fun with all kinds of specialty concoctions.
As far as activities are concerned you can do as little or as much as you want. There are zumba, water aerobics, volleyball, beach volleyball, chess, Spanish lessons, walks to a clear water lagoon, crazy games, tequila tasting, bingo, poker, water sports, movie nights, theme nights and evening shows. I know I'm missing something!
The hotel is not brand new so there are a few things that need refurbishing. I am not picky about those things, so I am not going to elaborate.
There were people in all age groups from honeymooners to people in their 80's. There were also people in wheelchairs who also seemed to be enjoying themselves. Whatever your age or infirmity, don't think that you are too old for an all inclusive vacation. I recommend Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun. You will have a wonderful time!
