I loved this place, specially at night, you can see people walking down the street from so many countries, many places to have dinner.

Thank Ludi M

There are things I like and dislike about "La Quinta" ~ however, many tourists tend to overreact to vendors on this avenue. First of all, speaking Spanish is helpful, as well as a good attitude. I only go there when I have something I specifically want to buy. I live in Mexico part time and know the system ~ a bit of playful banter goes a long way. I always let the vendors know I live in Mexico and don't need a ring, bag, shot of tequila, etc., but I will stop and chat with a few along my way. I love the amber shop ~ have been buying pieces from them for years, never pushy and great selection. Yes, there are tons of souvenir shops ~ obviously people keep them in business. Some are very tacky. There are also some very unique shops, like the little shop that sells all things heart shaped. There are some decent restaurants and hotels still, but I wouldn't want to be in the midst of all the chaos. The avenue now has a lot of big chains, such as Starbucks, Burger King, Victoria's Secret, MAC cosmetics, etc., which had really changed the vibe. It's something to do ~ if it's offensive to you, catch a cab and leave. Please do not participate in the tourist attractions that exploit wild animals, such as having your photo taken with a little monkey or iguana. This creates an imbalance in nature and many of these animals end up sick or dying from being over handled or feed inappropriate foods. Take Quinta Avenida with a grain of salt ~ have a look ~ but the beaches out of the main area are much cleaner and prettier.

There is no way you can come this close to Playa and not go to 5th Ave. This is by far one of the best locations to people watch in Playa. There are people from all over the world here. No matter where you are from, you will be able to make new friends. Just keep your ears open for someone speaking your language and strike up a conversation. Works every time for me! If you are looking for a deal on trinkets and souvenirs, get away from 5th and go into the heart of the city. Same goods at 1/2 the price!

lots of shops. between Calle 1 and 28 T shirt shops and Jaladors (Barkers), but it quiets down between 30 and 40, which has some nicer shops, restaurants, good prices, less Spring breakish
