Loved it. It has probably everything and anything that you could be looking for.
Good place to go for souvenirs and things for yourself and good restaurants to stop and have a bite to eat. And Corona's are only $1, shops that have them.

You have to much to see when you walk in the fifth avenue and looks a nice street with all the colorful stores and restaurants but the prices are way to expensive in general speaking and the people works in this street are annoying because they try to make you pay for a picture for someone that has costume even if they looks like the real actor or the comics and if you don’t want to they are disrespect people.

Very active and fun area with lots of restaurants, bars, night life spots and condominiums. Souvenir stores and plenty of boutiques. Avoid the tourist trap restaurants.

If you have never walked 5th. Ave. you are in for a treat and a surprise. The street goes for miles and both sides are loaded with restaurants, bars, chain clothing stores, Mexican jewelry, Also a block or so each side of 5th. are also loaded with restaurants, etc. Your will constantly be confronted with hawkers selling stuff, trying to get you into their business and girls wanting to sell massages. Don't get mad or upset, it is best not to answer back, shake head no or wave hand no and keep walking. Oh, selling cigars, there are hundreds of guys selling cigars. There are many outstanding restaurants alone 5th. also many places with live music. Also many guys asking if you want to buy drugs, do what I said above and keep walking. It is a very safe place, don't get scared seeing the Federal Police at intersections standing with automatic rifles across their chests. They are there to deter any type of crimes. Also no vehicles are allowed on 5th. avenue. At night there are thousands of people walking. Having a drink and watching the show of people walking is entertainment in itself. Almost all locations take credit cards, american dollars or pesos.

Playa Del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida is a central hub of action for both tourist and local alike. It is incredibly easy to get to from any of the downtown hotels and stretches on for at least 20 blocks. Shops, restaurants and entertainment are packed into every block, with something for everyone regardless of age or background. It is definitely a tourist location by day, with many American clothing and accessory stores, but just as many or more Mexican name brands as well. Boutiques abound. Street vendors too, of course. (Be prepared to have any number of tour companies bombard you with offers for Chichen Itza, Tulum, parasailing...the standard fare.)

The laid back, daytime atmosphere turns exciting, carnival-like about 9:30-10PM, especially on a Saturday! Street performers on nearly every block give a great taste of the local culture, and there are some great clubs located slightly off the avenue for those who want to party till sunrise. Live bands in multiple bars play anything from classic rock to Americana to straight-up Mariachi. ATMs are plentiful, most dispensing pesos, but some dispensing USD for those that prefer it.

Go Saturday night. That’s when this place is at its best!
