We ate lunch here most of our days at the Rosewood Mayakoba. They have really good food for lunch. Watch out though, it'll cost $100+, just for lunch. The wait staff is really awesome....even when you are at your chairs. They were constantly walking by, asking if we needed anything.

This was our favorite restaurant on the Mayakoba properties. I'd recommend ordering tapas for the table. The variety is great. We loved the empanadas. We also tried the whole grilled fish which was huge and tasted great. The view is lovely.

We read reviews of this restaurant by guests from other resorts. So for lunch one day we walked up to the restaurant only to be told that they don't welcome guests from other hotels for lunch, just dinner. I thought this was ridiculous and asked to speak to a manager. After much discussion, he agreed to seat us. My boyfriend works for the Ritz Carlton in NYC and as a true, five star hotel, they don't turn any paying customers who want to experience their food away. The food was good, but very expensive. We had two margheritas, and three appetizers and it was over $150.00. At the end, the waiter rudely approached our table to tell us that our credit card wasn't working, which was not possible as we used it all week and notified the bank of our travel plans prior to leaving . We came to later find out that not only was it working, but he ran it through twice, so after the hassle we were charged twice. To speak objectively about the food, it's "gourmet" Mexican designed to please American palates similar to what you'd find at Rosa Mexicano in NY. The food was good, the bus boys and mostly everyone who worked here were very pleasant with the exception of the restaurant manager and the waiter. Needless to say I regret sitting down at a place that wasn't so welcoming.

We ate here on a rainy evening, so cannot comment on the setting; the indoor place is bare and completely lacks charm, though. The cocktails are creative and excellent. The food is good, but nothing to write home about, and certainly not-good-value at the price they can afford to charge given the unique location and captive clientele of the 3 on-site resorts. Definitely not a destination restaurant (ie. not worth visiting unless you stay at Mayakoba!)

We were staying at Grand Velas and decided to check out the Rosewood resort next door for dinner. Arrived at the Punta Bonita after a short and scenic golf cart ride from the main lobby building. The restaurant is beach and poolside - lovely setting!!! You can sit indoor or out. Don't miss the "secret bar" at the far end of the restaurant. Just about on the beach with great bar seats for drinks or dinner....and a superb martini and margarita cocktail menu along with a full bar. Dinner---- fresh, creative Mexican tapas and also full size entrees. We shares scallop ceviche, unbelievable soft shell crab tacos, guacamole and homemade chips, seared scallop salad. The wines are Mexican and fantastic! For entrees we had the grilled jumbo shrimp on lemon infused risotto, the Rib Eye, Caribbean lobster over sweet corn mole and potato carpaccio. Lobster was a little dry but otherwise delicious!!!! The food is presented beautifully and the atmosphere is quiet, romantic and relaxing! And... don't skip dessert!!!! Would definitely return on our next visit!!!
