“Fantastic Italian food”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Readily accommodated our group of 9 for dinner. Quick, attentive service. The owner made a point of coming to talk to the group and thanking us for the business. With so many restaurant choices in Playa, we prefer to frequent the establishments that serve great food for a fair price and who appreciate our patronage. Delicious authentic Chicago style pizza, delicious pastas, salads and even the warm bread for dipping in olive oil and balsamic vinegar was amazing. Our group ordered a variety of food and loved every single item. Just remember to save room for the brownie! We already are making plans for another meal here to continue to explore the menu and it is now a "must stop" for all future trips.

“Deep dish pizza!”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

If your looking for something other than the typical thin crust pizza that you find in Playa, this is the place! Stopped in for a later snack and ordered the meatball pizza (don't be put off by the word 'gravy' on the menu, they mean tomato sauce) As a 'gringo' it's more like the pizza we get back home in Canada or the US. The outer crust is crisp but thick and soft in the middle with lots of cheese that strings out when you remove a piece and trails to your plate....unheard of in every other place in playa that we've tried before. Lots of tasty tomato sauce and very flavourful meatballs to top. An extra added surprise was to find the server was Jimmy, an old amigo that we got to know over the past couple of years from a former favourite restaurant down near 5th ave. Jimmy gives great service and speaks very good English and is obviously a lot more happy and content in his new surroundings. He also informed us that they will deliver to your condo or hotel. Russell, the owner makes a point to welcome you and chat with the guests and makes sure that everything is satisfactory. A nice touch that he's always been known for. (Also worked at the 'other' restaurant with Jimmy) A little off the beaten path up on 30th ave but still only a short walk in a very safe area, only a couple of blocks north of Mega, on the east side of the road. Small, quaint, not fancy, but very clean and lots of fans to keep you comfortable. Priced right, and we even were given bread with herbed oil and balsamic to start. Where do you get that when you order pizza? Because it is 'deep dish' it takes a couple minutes longer, so the bread is a smart extra touch. This is now our only 'go to' place for pizza in Playa. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. The pasta and meatballs look awesome!

“Your family place in Playa”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

Truly enjoyed both of my dining experiences here. We had a salad, two different deep dish pizzas, and spaghetti/meatballs. Don't expect some "twist on the original" deep dish pizza. These will put you right back in Chicago! I've eaten at Gino's, Lou Malnati's, and Giordano's, just so you have a frame of reference. I would rather eat great pizza on the beach, but that's just me. Meatballs were outrageously good, some of the best I've ever had. And try the brownie!! It's delicious as well. Good luck saving room for it.

“Mmmmmmeatballs!”
Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

Great restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the great service from the staff. Our order (for 2 people) was a house salad, spaghetti and meatballs, The Chendo pizza, and a brownie. Food coma? Yes. Leftovers? Definitely. Regrets? Nope, not a one. Best meatballs I've had in a very long time and top notch Chicago deep dish! We're only in Playa for a week but we are planning a return visit before we head back home.

“30th Avenue Gem”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

Other tenants in our condo complex suggested we try Don Chendos restaurant on 30th Ave ... so we did. We were very impressed! The service was very prompt ...and the food was delicious! The chef came out and introduced himself to us and made us feel so welcome in this neat little restaurant. I would recommend if you are in Playa del Carmen you try this restaurant!
