We live in Playa and eat out a lot and the places we eat don't generally serve vegetables and definitely not salads. I also detest making salads. I don't have the patience to wash, peel, chop. Needless to say I was very happy to see that there was a new salad place close to where we live.
Barra Light is a new restaurant located on the corner of calle 10 and avenida 15. I stopped in a couple weeks ago and ordered a small salad. The small salad is 69 pesos (more than I want to spend on a salad but the portion size is more than enough for me). The small comes with a choice of 2 proteins and 4 items from the veggie bar. It also includes dressing, croutons, and a couple other toppings.
The restaurant is really clean, friendly staff, and nice tables inside and outside.
Here are some of the things on their menu:
Small salad - $69
Medium salad - $79
Large salad - $89
(the medium and large salads allow you more choices for toppings).
Smoothies - $42
aguas frescas - $16
sodas - $16
other drinks (juices & coffee) $20-$42
Paninis - $79 (My husband had their hawaiiana and said it was excellent)
Breakfast bagels range from $38-$79
So, if you're like me and you need a break from tacos, tostadas, cochinita, salbutes, etc, I recommend you stop in at Barra Light. (I will admit I have a selfish motive for you to go...I want them to stay open!)
