We have been members since 1995! Every year is better than the next. There is so much to do in Cancun but this was our year to just relax and enjoy. The beach is great and the weather was unbelievable! We tried the new refined inclusive plan. The food was good, but we found that if you are not going to eat 3 meals a day and drink, it was not worth the option. Just a thought for your future travel. We own a week at the Islander and 2 weeks at the Haciendas. Both are great, but the Haciendas is our favorite!

Stayed here for a week the end of April,, it was a time share exchange. Was pleasantly surprised with the villa size and location, which isn't always the case with an exchange couldn't of had a better view or location on the 3rd floor. The staff is amazing as well as the overall stay.I was there with a very picky eater I felt that there was always something for even someone as picky as my friend. We do agree there could be more food choices You cant ever go wrong with the pico and guacamole and fish tacos at the pool bar!!!! The best grouper ever!! Not much nightlife as the pool bar closes at 5 and the the pool becomes empty of anyone from then on . I would go back in a heart beat!!

We are owners here & love coming back. This was our first visit since the all inclusive option was offered to owners & mandatory for renters, and the prices at the market & pool bars have gone up significantly since before this option. The price of a diet Coke at the pool bar was $4.61 before tip. That is a bit extreme. We paid $12.00 for 2 quarts of ice cream in the market. Again, much higher than in the past. That said, I love this resort, so we will just purchase our food & drink from the grocery in Playa del Carmen on future visits. Service was excellent & the free evening shuttles to Playa del Carmen were an added bonus.

We just came back from spending three wonderful weeks at the Royal Haciendas and we were sad to leave. The service is great and the villa was terrific. All of the service personnel had a very positive attitude in trying to help us with any need we had. The beach was great, the weather fantastic and we can't wait to go back again next year. The food was very good as evidenced by the five pounds I put on while there. My fiends and I highly recommend this place for your next vacation.

We just returned from a 1-week stay at Royal Haciendas. Overall, it was a great stay, with just some minor issues.

Gorgeous resort.
The grounds are kept immaculate by the staff. There are always people working on the gardens, cleaning the beaches and pool, lining up chairs, etc. And everyone has a smile on their face and says hello. Plenty of room at the pool (there are 5 pools) - always chairs available- same for the beach as well. Everything is within a 10 minute walk. Never felt crowded, even though I was told the resort was full. Hammock areas were great for relaxing.

The room.
We had a 2 bedroom suite. Great layout. master bedroom with king bed, 2nd bedroom with 2 double beds. There was also 2 murphy beds in the living room. The kitchen was extremely convenient too. We did a little shopping in the market (and yes, expect to pay high prices) for essentials like milk, cookies, chips, etc). Since we were all-inclusive, we just wanted some snacks in case the kids got hungry. Again, cleaning staff did a great job at keeping the villa in tip-top shape. They came in twice a day- the first to clean- the second for turn-down service. Once they even left lollipops for my girls.

All-Inclusive package was definately worth it. There were only a couple of items that we wanted that included a surcharge- and the surcharges were never more than $6-8USD. Overall the food was good. The main restaurante serves buffet for breakfast, lunch & dinner. You have the option of the buffet- or ordering off the menu. Breakfast is great. Wonderful variety, all food is very fresh. Lunch is good- we opted for the poolside restaurante for most of them. Dinner was also good. The buffet offers some variety based on the theme. I think it definaly depends on the individual. Just read one review that said Oriental night (last Friday) was great- but that was our least favorite night, and most of us opted for menu-dinner instaed of buffet. The pool-side restaurants were great. Loved the Squid-rings (aka calamari). Fish tacos, fish anything really- all very fresh! We went to Los Murales for my 40th birthday- it was good- but not as good as I thought it would be given the reviews I read. We didn't go back. The pool-bar staff was excellent- we had a great time chatting with them.

I read alot of complaints about the wait for food/service/check, but we didn't experience any of that. The service was quick, the staff remembered our names and our drink orders. When we asked for the bill (which was mostly $0 USD anyway), we never had longer than a 5-minute wait.

The Beach- there are some rocky areas along the resort beach. There are a few good spots for swimming- but you do have to be careful of the rocks. Although the water is clear, we did find that there were rocks right underneath the sand - my recommendation - take water shoes with you.

Time-share pitch-
Depending on your concierge, there is definatly a push for timeshares. When our concierge asked us what he could do to make it a great vacation, we told him directly that we were definatly not interested, no matter the perks they threw at us. in buying a timeshare. That seemed to work, because, even though he approached us everyday to see what he could do for us, he never mentioned it again. We got a call on our last day, from someone else at the desk (not our concierge) trying to sell it- but we just said- no thank you.

Kid-club
The information on the site doesn't provide much information- but it's a great program. Great staff there, very energetic and engaging. My girls participated in a few events- making t-shirts, building sandcastles, games, pinata, etc. They offer activities for small and older children. You can drop off, or accompany the child. We saw the kid-club staff leading a group of kids in activities throughout the resort everyday. The club itself is spacious and has a few different play/creativity areas. It's a hidden gem. And again- the staff- including Fabiola is great with the children.

There are alot of activities for adults too, however, we didn't do many- we were focusing on family-time.

Nightly shows. The resorts has shows almost nightly (starting at 8pm). They are not very long- but they are entertaining for kids. We especially loved the fire show on Friday.

The only real negative that I had was that we had booked an "Ocean-view room". We were given a room on the first floor in building C. It is about as far from the ocean as you can get, and unless you're standing on a stool- looking at the horizon, between the trees- you might see the ocean. Needless to say- I was not happy. I always get ocean-view (real ocean view) or ocean front rooms. We are a family of ocean-lovers so this put a negative taint to our trip. The resort really needs to stop thinking that every room has a view- especially in Phase 1 where the plants/trees are mature. In Phase 2, there is less trees and shrubs- so the same room, on that side of the resort- has a little more of a view.

Also, being on the ground floor created alot of stress for us. We have a small child- and there were steps right at our terrace. Wile we were unpacking she went out the balcony doors in her room and down the stairs. We couldn't find her anywhere and were panicked looking for her- until our concierge saw her going into the lobby and found us. It all happened within 2 minutes- but it felt like forever. After that, we were always on alert, and constantly checking to make sure the balcony doors were closed.

I did ask to get moved to a higher floor (initially for the view), but then because of the walk-out terrace and steps, but we were told that the resort was full and they could not move us.

Also, my recommendation to the resort is that they should not have guest see their villa until it is clean. Our check-in (except for the location of the room) went well and quickly. Rocio was very good. They asked if we'd like to be taken to the room, even though the room was not ready, we could leave our things there. Of course, after a long trip, you want to go to the room- but honestly, I wish I hadn't gone. Whoever had the room before us left it a complete dirty mess. And it being the first time I was seeing it (and being a bit of a germaphobe) it did not sit well with me. After we had lunch, and returned to the room- it was spotless, but again, since I had seen how dirty it was, it left me uncomfortable. Again, I'm a germaphobe, my husband didn't really mind it.

Overall, the resort is very quiet- which we love. We are a young family- and we were just looking for a bit of rest, relaxation and time to spend together as a family so that was perfect. If you're looking for a night-life, this isn't for you. Although the resort is centrally situated to Playa del Carmen, Cancun, and a number of activities (we went swimming with the dolphins).

Again- we had a great time. And came back wonderfully relaxed!

Awesome accommodations and many great services...

It is located in Playa del Carmen and within 60-90 minutes of everything else. If you want a change from the Cancun scene and want a bit more privacy with only a quick drive to some of the larger attractions (e.g. Explor, Xcaret, Tulum, Coba), then this is the place…

The hospitality is wonderful and the beach is beautiful. Only a 30-45 minute boat ride away to the Island of Cozumel and a few miles away from the street-walking 5th avenue of Playa del Carmen.

The on-site restaurants are great, although we tend to focus our appetite off-site roaming the region in a tiny rented car.

Although there are many activities on-site to keep you preoccupied if you chose not to be the adventurous type with off-site trips, the only suggestion that can be made to improve this resort experience is to have more than one (1) pool table.

The Royal Resort (Royal Sands) located in Cancun has similar accommodation and has several pool tables. My wife & I sometimes like to relax one (1) evening during the week with a few pool games at one of the on-site bars.

The Haciendas only has one (1) pool table that is always being used…

Although we give a 5-star rating, we would give the accommodations 6-stars if it had more pool tables…

Enjoy...

The resort is excellent maintained, the ammenities are over the standards as well. The quality overall is five star. The sales guys would be the only exception, they will always make you waste time trying to sell you something else, even when you are an already owner.
