If you want great local food, and to eat it with the locals, then look no further. No frills food at a cheap cost. We had the tacos carnitas (pork) and a huge plate of chicken. Everything was cooked perfectly. Between my lousy Spanish and the waiter's lousy English, we got thru everything just fine, and with a lot of laughs. It is about a 10 minute walk from the north end of 5th Ave, but well worth it. We sat out front and watched the comings and going of the local people there. Great experience!

This place receives such high ratings we decided to try it, we went there for late dinner and order the parillada for 4. wow, there was so much food, the beans they serve as a starter are amazing, and the arrachera meat is so tender, I loved everything except the nopales (cactus) we took left overs for next day. I would come back and try something else

We were given the suggestion to try this place..and I'm so glad we did! We ordered the steak dinner and it was fabulous! Quick, great service. I would recommend sitting closer to the outside of the room or outside because it gets got inside. For 130 pesos we got very large amount of steak, grilled scallions, baked potato, sauces, guac, tortillas, soup, salad. It was more than enough for the two of us..and we can eat.

It more ethnic and off the main stream of 5th Avenue. Worth the short walk!

After reading the great reviews on trip advisor, we decided try El Fogon. We loved it! It was a nice break from all the touristy places on 5th. The tacos al pastor were amazing. Super cheap, 1.50 per taco! The quesadillas were awesome too! Be prepared to wait, unless you arrive before 6pm.

Really good, its in the hood so dont get scared, very safe , freindly people. a little greasy & meat a little fatty, but was a cool experience, with some good flavors. Fogon was recomended by the owner of Hotel Cielo & Carboncitos, he owns a restaurant, but had recommended some really good local spots, he said I know you are not goining to eat with 3 meals a day for 7 days.....a real host who knows how to treat his clients..... by the way we ate many meals there as well. So Fogon ..Thumbs up !!!
