Description: Our dishes are prepares meticulusly as our grandma used to make it. We choose the best ingredients to prepare genuine "mole" sauce in a metate stone (like from prehispanic times), to make sure get to the traditional recipes. Making our mermelade, bread, butter and many more. The best culinary experience in the autentic traditional mexican cuisine.

Once again I was not disappointed by a restaurant in Tulum. Such a high standard of food and all using and showcasing Mexican traditional food.

“Something Special”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

If you want to try some real Mexican food, and something that little bit special, head to Cetli.
Off the main road in Tulum town, Cetli is in the home of the owner. We sat outside in the courtyard and the family dog greeted us before going back to sleep in the corner.
The food is high end mexican, homecooked, with a mix of authentic and complex flavours. It was a refreshing change.

Order one of the 'off the menu' cocktails. the menu changes depending on ingredients, but if the chicken with cacti jelly is on there when you go, i highly recommend it.

You receive a complimentary appetiser platter when you sit down, and a gift when you pay.

The family and staff are warm and friendly. The food is amazing. If you are in Tulum, you have to pay this place a visit.

“The best meal we had in Tulum!”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

This authentic Mexican restaurant was the perfect little gem to find away from the touristy main drag of Tulum. We had a harder time finding authentic Yucatean food and after reading the reviews, we decided to try this place out. It was somewhat difficult to find, it is 2 blocks from the main road on the corner of orion and polar norte. The name of the restaurant is painted on the house so there isn't a clear sign.

Walking in to this cozy Mexican home, the atmosphere was romantic with tastefully done decor. We were surprised to receive a complimentary appetizer platter that included toasted thick bread, empanadas, cheeses with a beet sauce, green salsa and seasoned butter wrapped in a corn husk. We also got a cheesy tomato soup that was delicious. My main course was a chicken enchilada covered with a green almond mole sauce and my husband had the chaya stuffed chicken breast with mole. Our dessert was a corn cake covered in wonderful Mexican chocolate. The "dulce mejicana" that came with the check was also a nice touch.

It is cash only and they are closed on Wednesdays. Would also suggest calling ahead or making a reservation, we were asked to come back an hour after we showed up.

“Wonderful Restaurant in Tulum!”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

What an amazing dining experience we had at Cetli. First, the food: DIVINE. We wanted food that was authentically Mexican, which Cetli offers, but what the chef has done is added artistry of her own, so we enjoyed food that was both genuine AND imaginative, not to mention absolutely delicious. We tried the specialty of the house - Chili En Nogada, a poblano chili stuffed with minced beef, pineapple, and raisins, topped with a white nut cheese sauce & sprinkled with granada and coriander. Unbelievable. We also had the poblano pepper stuffed with huitlacoche (black corn fungus) and corn on a red peanut mole sauce (YUM), the Yeyetzi Acapulco (grouper) in tamarind sauce garnished with actual whole tamarinds which I haven't eaten since childhood, and the delectable Potosi, which was chaya-stuffed chicken breast sauced with cactus fruit jelly. My son said the latter was one of the best chicken dishes he had ever tasted. Prior to the main course we received a lovely platter of breads and spreads - toasted bread with seasoned butter, empanaditas, sopitas, and cheeses. My much-anticipated tamarind margarita was just what I'd hoped for. The attention to detail at this place creates such a great feeling. The decor has a Mexican folk-art / vintage Catholic theme and makes you feel as if you've stepped into a Mexican home from another time - BEAUTIFULLY done. Great atmosphere, great food, a place of real artistry, truly a WONDERFUL and unique dinner choice in Tulum!
