“The best place on tulum's beach!!!”
Reviewed 25 November 2011

We had a very hard time leaving the cabana .
I don't understand why there are people that wrote a bad review about this hotel.
We stayed at coco hotel and posada del sol both of them didn't came close to this hotel.

The staff was very helpful ( Marco and Martha) .

The room was very clean the maid even made our towels look like swans and alsoshe teached my wife how to do that.

The ocean view From the balcony was perfect!!! .

You can only hear the sound of the waves at night it was very easy to fall a sleep and also very romantic.

In regards to the bad review about the water- in all the hotels we have stayed in tulum playa the water were salty !!!

We promised ourself that when we have children we will return to the family cabana.

This has got to be the most beautiful location for a room - literally on the beach - and what a beach! The rooms are really modernly done and very tasteful. The only problem was that the power cut out a few times when we were there: but they eventually fixed it. There is no reception or anything - just the guesthouses. But it's very good value for the amaZing location and beach view

Not a good value anymore. We stayed here previously and enjoyed our vacation. However, we noticed a huge difference in quality of upkeep of the cabanas and grounds during our May 2011 stay.

Every morning the electricity in our Cabana would turn off for several minutes at a time. Try putting in contact lenses in a dark bathroom with no light. Fun. There's nearly no water pr4essure from the shower. And for one full day we had no water at all. This means we could not shower, the toilet did not flush and we could not even wash our hands. Disgusting. We advised the staff at 7:00 A.M. and then left for the day. When we got back in the late afternoon, still no water. We had to tell the staff a second time and finally the water was turned on. Needless to say, we are disappointed in Azucar and will not stay there ever again.

By the way, I sent an e-mail to the Azucar's "PR Rep" when we got back home (there's no phone anywhere at Azucar, so it was not an easy option to call her when we were there. We did however advise the on-site staff to give the Manager a message to contact us when we were at Azucar. No Manager ever did come by our Cabana). Anyway, Monica's e-mail reply to me was very rude. She said my expectations were "too high" and Azucar is not a "5 Stars" hotel. No kidding. Without reliable water or electricity, I agree Azucar is nowhere near 5 Stars, Monica. Good luck to anyone who would put up with such non-sense.

On a bright note, the beach is beautiful. My advice: Stay at any of the other Cabanas or hotels along the beach zone and avoid the hassles we experienced at Azucar.

We had a wonderful romantic week at this beautiful place. We booked the upstairs family cabana which slept 6, very spacious, well equiped kitchen, romantic four poster bed, dining area and breakfast bar. The views as you can see from my pictures were everything i could only dream of. The staff were helpful and lovley at all times, especialy Martha who looked after us and kept the cabanas spotlessly clean and Roberto who looked out for us at all times.

Room Tip: Low season, if you are looking for peace and quiet

We reserved a (not so big) room in Azucar Hotel for 4 days. The room value is all in its location. The rest of the room is nice, but the central point is that you are right on the beach in one of the most wonderful strand of sea ever. You do not need to walk to the beach, you are already on it. You can sit, read, relax, and just walk (10-15 steps) to the water when you want to swim. That's it. The price is much cheper than other cabanas we slept, which were much further away from the sea. For me this is the best hotel I have been and I will ever be.
Once you get used to the wonderful, spectacular, legendary location, you can even think there is wireless (right on the beach!!!), and that (for me great added value) the hotel is powered by solar energy!!! So your footprint is practically zero. And everything works great! Nice, isn't it? It is not fake, it is possible, and moreover, beautiful, majestic, wonderful. The best room hotel ever.

Room Tip: all rooms are top view. We were in Arrecife
