My wife and I traveled to Tulum for a relaxing holiday. The team at Las Ranitas were helpful and attentive. Antonio the beach attendant catered to our every need, and Jerome and the front desk personnel were always helpful with recommendations. And, there was enough beachfront to make you feel secluded from the other guests. The relatviely remote location, kept a bulk of the crowds far away. The food was above average and we enjoyed the Chillaquies (sp?) every morning.

The rooms were OK, if not a bit rough around the edges, but clean. Comfortable bed. Perhaps due to the environment the toilet leaked and there was no water pressure for showers. Speaking of which we had no hot water for the first three days of a six day stay. They said they had to have one delivered and had to demand they get it taken care of when it finally did arrive. There was also a colony of ants in the closet but this is likely an issue of being in the tropics.

Overall, though we had a wonderful trip in Mexico, I had a hard time justifying the $425 (USD)/night cost. I didn't feel we got a lot for the money. We will likely try another hotel when we return.

We specifically came to the Las Ranitas restaurant to have the stuffed lobster Chile Rellanos. Our expectations were exceeded on both our menu choices (the other menu item was the Barbecoa de pollo, a slow cooked chicken wrapped in banana leaf). Both dishes were outstanding - delicious and wonderfully presented.

Chef Many has great culinary skills. He also is very customer oriented.

Thank you!

The setting is wonderful and the public areas and grounds are beautiful. The rooms themselves are a bit dog-eared and the house keeping strangely inconsistent, but that wouldn't be a problem under other circumstances. The restaurant/bar service seems to have problems setting their prices- bills did not always agree with the menu prices- and given the choice of understanding what you asked for or bringing you a more expensive alternative, they choose the later. The food is expensive, but actually quite good for Tulum.

However we had a big problem the last night. Returning from a snorkeling trip and looking forward to a relaxing last night, we found the whole public area taken over by wedding preparation. We had not been informed of this fact that morning, let alone when we booked. The manager, quite apologetic, explained that somehow he had not know about the wedding until that morning and acted as if it was an act of nature over which he had no control. He nicely comped us for 2 nights and offered to move us to another hotel. However, as it was already 2 o'clock, we had an early flight the next day and we hadn't packed, a move was logistically impossible and we decided to stay put. This led to a painful night of horrid, loud music and drunk party guests until past midnight.

Now I know that the manager tried to be helpful, but it really soured us on this place. Weddings are presently heavily advertised on their website and at the hotel. The management obviously made the choice that the bad will they generated from us was made up by revenue from the wedding. Of course the hotel management can to follow whatever business course it chooses. And you have the choice not to stay at this hotel.

I did a lot of research before choosing Las Ranitas for my wedding... I wanted the perfect balance between serenity, luxury, quality, facilities and service (amongst other things). Las Ranitas exceeded all my expectations with respect to each category.

The place is absolute paradise.
The staff are so friendly that by the end they feel like your family.
The accommodation is luxurious with an 'eco' touch (but that in itself is Tulum's appeal and one of its unique selling points).
The food is truly delicious and Many the chef is only too willing to accommodate special requests.
Angelina, the wedding coordinator, (now friend!) - provided constant support over the previous 12 months via phone and email... and on the day, ensured everything went smoothly. She is simply amazing.

Thank you to Las Ranitas... you made my wedding so unbelievably beautiful and perfect...

I can't wait to return for our anniversary(ies)!

My (now) wife and I got married at Las Ranitas on 22nd November 2011. We had what we and our guests think was the best beach wedding ever, anywhere! We had 32 guests stay with us at Las Ranitas for 3 days, but some of us were there for a week. The staff were all amazing, and nothing was too much trouble at any time of day or night, The venue itself is great, and the open waterfront reception area and beachfront is somewhere that you just want to spend all your waking hours.
As for the wedding itself, a few people deserve some special comments. Angelina the wedding coordinator is fabulous. She was so good to deal with via email and skype all the way from Australia for the whole 12 months beforehand that we started planning. And on site for the wedding, she made sure everything was perfect, be it organising a steamer for the clothes or extra flowers from the flower man for a groomsman on the morning. And Many the chef went way above and beyond for us in organising our special vegetarian, semi kosher, general fussiness requests and menus for the wedding buffet, the finger food, the brunch the next day... nothing was too much trouble.
We had an amazing time, and loved the venue and the people. I could go on about it but I think you get the message.
Only thing to note is that Las Ranitas is an ecolodge so don't expect a big highrise hotel with the usual facilities. Part of its charm is the more basic nature of the rooms and facilities, which forces relaxation and contentment and socialising!

Room Tip: Well the honeymoon suite was great for the post wedding nights. If you can pay the extra for the dir...

We stayed at Las Ranitas from Nov 12-19. As soon as we arrived we knew
we'd be back! The hotel is absolutely wonderful...clean, bright colors,
the most beautiful beach we had ever experienced in our lives,
incredible meals, and a warm staff. Everyone was so helpful from Jesus
(the hotel manager); Jerome and Vanessa (hotel staff who planned,
welcomed and assisted in all ours needs); Manny (the chef, who will make
whatever your heart desires, is absolutely beyond outstanding); Carlos,
Miguel and Isabell (restaurant staff who cared for us at every meal);
Else (room service, who left a beautifully sculptured towels on our beds
each day); and so many more individuals who made this a trip of a
lifetime!

Do yourself a favor and go to Las Raintas to relax and take in nature at
it's best. We don't want to go any other beach destination, but
here...we will be back! Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!

Las Ranitas is truly paradise!
In 2010 and 2011 we stayed there 4 times! We are going again back in January 2012 for our 5th stay. We love the hotel for its location right on the best pristine white beach, with its warm, calm, turquoise blue water. The front desk staff, delicious food and maid service are excellent and they pay attention to all the necessary details. The rates on the unique and Mayan decor /designed rooms are a really good deal and some of the best accommodations on this strip of beach... with views of the ocean from every room. They have recently made grand renovations, one being the new palapa covering the dining area and patio for relaxing, enjoying a cocktail and also enjoying the Caribbean Sea view. Privacy is also key at this small but beautiful boutique hotel. The management and staff are very friendly, welcoming and their customer service impeccable. We love Las Ranitas and can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are fabulous but we prefer Coqui 2 & 3 and Cristal Centro even though they are a l...
