This must be Paradise: long white beaches, turquoise water, palm trees and no people!
We are the owners of the Southwest Inn at Sedona, AZ.~A Boutique Hotel. We wanted to research other Boutique Hotels on the Yucatan Peninsula, so after much research, we found the Be-Tulum. They are truly one of a kind.
We stayed in a 2nd floor room with a huge, towering grass thatched roof that made you think you were in a tree fort of some kind. The room was oversized with a Jacuzzi tub in the middle, which we did not use, because the outdoor shower was so unique. The room was spotless, and had incredible beds with an aggressive a/c system that they encourage you to turn down during the day.
The drinks and meals are all made fresh each day. I’ve never had a rum drink, where the juice came from squeezing fresh oranges, pineapples and mangos. The breakfast, which is included in the daily rate, was fantastic, and the one dinner that we had was excellent.
Their front desk staff would definitely give our front desk staff a run for their money, and the gardens and walk ways were an adventure in themselves. Our walkways have native plants, and water fountains, but we will now try to cast a feeling like Be-Tulum, as you walk through the property.
This property, unlike all of the resort hotels in Cancun is all about the beach and the ocean. We walked for 3 hours one day, on the softest white sand beach that I’ve ever seen, and we only saw 20 people. Sunbather’s appear to be comfortable wearing, or not, whatever they want to; and the swimming / body surfing was fantastic.
Be-Tulum allows their guests to ride bikes around the area, or with a rental car you can easily access the tiny village where we were treated with the “best fish tacos” we’ve every had, in a restaurant that proudly displayed “flip flops-optional”.
We did tour the Mayan Ruins, which were roped off compared to 20 years ago, when we freely walked the property and climbed the step stairs to the top of the temple, where many virgins were sacrificed.
The military runs exercises nearby, so we always felt very safe.
