“Perfect choice for young family”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

Maison Tulum is the Perfect Choice especially for a young family. We have two girls a four year old and a four month old. There was no hesitation in welcoming us with our youngsters. The owner is very friendly and helpful giving tips on places to eat for best prices depending on your style. Sea food? definately Camellos, awesome cheviches and filletts. Our room, (The Orange room) was spacious, unique, airconditioned and fans.

*DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A TIP*

It is a great location because there is easy access to many essentials such as an 'oxxo'. service station without fuel. Your basics: over the counter drugs. Tylenol etc. hot dogs, nachos... pampers and wipes! You get the drift :). A variety of merchants; from sombreos to natural or milk based paletas, fix it yourself tacos stand. The bus station just around the corner. Two ice-cream parlors, Roman food, *Italian* ;) Mexican, Sea food from Camellos which you can walk if you prefer. The laundromat is just a few steps from the bus station and taxi stand. Two hostels if you arrive late, you can crash until check in time.
Maison Tulum's beach club La vita e bella is great. Service on the beach under your palapa. You want to be there early to have your palapa until you are ready to leave.
One morning we went to pointe de la pierdra to see the sunrise caught a taxi to the archeological park to see the ruins. We walked back and stopped to see what Santa Fe ( the public beach where you can camp) was like and kept on along the beach with stroller and all; all the way to La vita e bella. It was so relaxing hardly anyone up early.

Room Tip: It would of been fun to have a swimming pool but we hit the beach everyday so we did not really miss...

Maison Tulum was comfortable and visually appealing. We stayed in the room on the third floor with the beams across the ceiling that is in the picture here on TripAdvisor. I liked the furniture and the little balcony was a perfect place to read in the morning for a bit. There are cats and dogs (nice ones) hanging out in the beautiful garden/courtyard. The breakfast was the standard continental, but served in the lovely eating area on cool terracotta dishes. Since Maison Tulum is also a bakery, there is a selection of yummy pastries available for breakfast or snacks and sometimes it smells like baking around the hotel. This hotel is a little oasis in Tulum town. It felt good to come back here after a day of touristing.
I have seen that there is some debate about whether or not one should stay in Tulum town when you could stay on the beach. We actually did both on this trip and I can assure you that it is cheaper to stay in town. You also are closer to better value restaurants and the manager of Maison Tulum gave us many great suggestions. It is somewhat less relaxing to stay in town, however, so you might need to examine your reasons for taking your vacation. If you need to do some serious relaxing, just go to the beach. If you want some adventure and you are going to be traveling to ruins and cenotes while eating real Mexican food, stay in town. Or you could switch it up and try both! At any rate, I recommend Maison Tulum for those who opt for staying in town.

Room Tip: We were very satisfied with the third floor!

Guillermo and Simon were very helpful in accommodating us even after expedia sent them the wrong info about the number of people in our group. Two blocks away from Ave Tulum which is the main street with all the bars and restaurants, pharmacy, bakery etc which was really great. Rooms were clean and spacious and airconditioned. Would come back if staying at Tulum Pueblo.

What a nice and cosy place! Stayed there for 2 weeks and had really great time. Rooms are spacious, clean and nicely decorated, there is little patio, roof top terrace, wifi. Good location just 2 blocks from the main street but it is quiet there. Owners and staff are very friendly and always helpful. There is also a bakery and they serve freshly baked bread for breakfast. I enjoy the place and I can recommend it to anyone.

My new husband and I stayed at Maison Tulum for 3 nights in March 2012 for part of our honeymoon and it was perfect. The hotel was so charming and rustic - we really loved the vibe. It was clean, spacious and we were lucky to have the penthouse room with it's own balcony. The staff were so helpful and friendly and the hotel had such a homey feel - we really felt so welcomed. Breakfast is included so while it's just coffee, juice and buns, it's nice to have it included...and everything was fresh and tasty. There is also free wifi so we could keep in touch with those at home so they knew we were alright. For those who are not in favour of all-inclusive resorts, this hotel and this town were the perfect alternative and at a great price. We felt very comfortable and we hardly missed the fact that there was no pool, even on warmer days. The main downtown strip with shops and restaurants was a 2 minute walk; the beach was a few kilometres but we rented bicycles and had a fun adventure making our way to the beach. When we visit Tulum again, we'll be spending a lot of our time at Maison Tulum, and will highly recommend it to everyone!

I was really please to be at Maison Tulum. The location is great, two blocks from the central park and the restaurants and the shopping/boutiques. You can have a really good breakfast. The manager Guillermo and the owner Simon are wonderfull. The really help me when I lost my key car. The change the way is see Mexico. If your traveling out of all inclusives and you wanna see a really nice town, wonderfull beaches and cenotes, Maison Tulum is the place.
