a truly magical place the hotel really does have the best beachfront rooms on the beach (which we ran along every day0 and you really are 20 metres from the sea. we stayed in a room called Nube which was beautifully furnished with a wonderful king size bed lovely sheets, pillows etc and very clean and an incredible sea view.
We were met by the new management who could not have been more helpfull and we went on a couple of great trips (fly fishing/bird watching).we had beautiful fresh fruit platters for breakfast and lovely salads and fresh fish for lunch they also make a mean cocktail. We will definately be going back to the same hotel next year as had such a great time.

Room Tip: go for a beachfront room they really are fantastic

We stayed at Luv Tulum for 6 nights and our room was called Fuego. We loved our stay really much and everything was what we expected it to be (and more). Beach was really private and beautiful, staff was really friendly (especially at restaurant) and our room was really lovely. Each morning we woke up in the sounds of waves, absolutely relaxing. We ate at Luv Tulum restaurant several times and it was actually best restaurant we had on our 3 weeks Caribbean holiday. There was only three things that wasn't that great; roomprice (really expensive at high season), no proper lights in our room and no fresh water at the shower. Although those things didn't bother us because everything else was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

I was in Tulum last Christmas and New Year and enjoyed a couple of fun parties at the Luv Tulum Hotel but my boyfriend and I had considered it a bit to Eco for our taste. Then after a late change of plan ended late change of plan ended up staying there this year....thank the Mayan gods we did.....the decor is chic without trying too hard the layout of the place makes it feel as though you are on an intimate private beach. The staff are relaxed but efficient.....by the end even the slightly salty showers left us with a sweet taste in our mouths. Heaven! (we stayed in Aqua)

Restaurant service and food (lunch and dinner mainly) could be better, though it dosn't really matter since Tulum has other very nice restaurants in the street and in other hotels. General service in the hotel is nice. Nobody mess with you. The rates are appropriate for the conditions of the hotel, which in general are also very good.

- incapable and non-communicative management:, a ruined honeymoon by double bookings and lies
+ the beautiful location and cabanas, and the excellent staff at the bar/restaurant (different management)

WARNING One reason to book Luv Tulum was the promise of a friendly couple running it that was very attentive to its customers. During our stay we found out there are new owners.

We booked nearly all of Luv Tulum early October 2012 for a 36 persons (friends, family, families) honeymoon week in February 2013. Yet...
On arrival two cabanas, Viento and Corazon, turned out to be double booked. Even though we had contact in the days before arrival and booking 5 months ahead no one at management even considered informing us beforehand. Instead, at arrival, we were lied upon by claiming the Viento cabana was ‘blocked’ by water damage and an attempt was made to hide the double booking on Corazon by trying some tricks with switching cabanas. In a location this small such lies could not last long…

There is much more to this, but I keep it short here. As a result half our group was confronted the first 2-3 days with a lot of undesired sharing of beds and cabanas by single adults, of which one was ill and on antibiotics, and several extra mattrasses were put on floors to fit all.
No excuses or proper arrangements were taken by management, leaving us stressed and in hideous negotiations for three days. When the first financial offer came two days later, the price turned out the same! After many days and hours the absolute minimum of a compensation was offered, without any kind of excuses.

To be clear: the location is absolutely great. The cabanas are really nice. The bar/restaurant, which has a different management as it is rented from Luv Tulum, has the most loving, attentive and fun staff which was also new upon arrival.

The seriously increased prices that I now see at their website do not justify the current capability of management.

I spent two nights here in possibly the most beautiful room on earth. It was just next to the Luv Tulum restaurant and each morning I woke to the sight of sparkling blue sea and bright white, powder soft sand. The beach is so peaceful, the sound of the waves will lull you to sleep. The beach service is marvellous, the restaurant quirky in design and delicious in food, the rooms spotless by mid morning, with a dream bed fitted with velvet cotton sheets and the manager, Daisy, was so accommodating. It was just how I wanted to remember my trip to Mexico. Be warned, the shower and tap are partly salted, so the water in the bathroom is for your teeth, not for drinking! After the noise of Tulum town and the tourism of Playa Del Carmen, it was the perfect getaway. Couldn't have asked for more in my last few days in Mexico.

We booked to stay 9 nights in playa del carmen, and on 1st day we were hugely disappointed! it was just as build up and expensive as cancun is, only difference is playa's building are lower, but still only built in last 20 years, just like cancun with big resort. but biggest disappointment with PDC is the beach has a weird smell (a bit like sewer but not 100% sure) and beach chair is packed like sadine. So we didnt bother with PDC's beach

We went to this Tulum beach on a day tour and immediately fall in love with it! Tulum beach is everything we thought Playa Del Carmen was going to be! It is mainly with boutique hotel along an extremely long stretch of beach (Luv Tulum is at 8.5km mark, and easily has another 5/6km in sight). So even though we have prepaid our sty in PDC, we decided to find a place to stay in Tulum beach area as walk in for 2 nights just to live that 'carrebean paradise'.

Most place have 1 or 2 room vacant, but we weren't sold on what we saw. By the time we come across Luv Tulum, it's the fourth place. The receptionist show us the $245/night room (high season), and we fall in love with the room (name of room 'Sol') immediately! It was full frontal ocean view on ground floor 10 metres away from the water! On top, it is next to communal sun chair area which we loved because it was so convenient to grab things that you forget, take off your wet swimmers or use your own bathroom! The interior of the room has 4 post bed with mozzie net and has Mediterranean deco and very spacious with L-shape lounge and a secrete rocking chair! Gas hot water so doesn't run out ( having say that on a windy day, the pilte light can blow out, and we heard not her room gas bottle run out. But they fixed it within minutes. So if you stay and find no hot water, tell them, they fix it very quick from our experience! Oh, and king size bed was super comfortable! It's soft but film at the same time which supports your back well (I have a bad back so we know a good quality mattress when we sleep on one)

The highlight of the room is we were able to see the sunrise over the horizon while lying down in our bed! Because we were on ground floor, when lie down, you are on the sea level which makes it even more stunning experience!

Shared (guest only) sun chair area was one of the best compare to other hotels, they have combination of sun chair, double sun bed, hammocks, tables and chairs, and the high light is they have a swinging sub-bed! And plenty of palm tree for shade. All come with loose outdoor cushions to make yourself comfie! (Other hotel don't seem to have loose cushions) Only criticism is they don't have enough quantity of sun chairs for all guest staying, so all the guest need to go down early to mind a seat. They need to have more than enough chairs VS quantity of rooms

Restaurant menu selection is not huge, selection is basic, but everything taste good. Complementary breakfast is excellent, it's a full hot breakfast with juice and coffee. If you go there, make sure you have night drinks or 1 dinner at the restaurant, they mut put at least 30 candles everywhere inside, it was so romantic and beautiful!

All in all, this place was PERFECT! You can't go wrong if you take one of the ocean frontline rooms! But make sure you read my room tip for other rooms! No all ocean view room is as good.

Room Tip: We stayed in room name 'SOL', it was the best view and room in our mind, since its on sand l...
