“great hotel; great food; great beach”
Reviewed 5 January 2011

My wife, our 6-year old and I stayed at Villa Las Estrellas for almost a week just after Christmas 2010. The hotel is a great place if you want to be right on the stretch of amazingly pristine and beautiful beach but want to get away from the touristy, busy beaches and impersonal service that you would get at a big resort. The owners, Simone (an Italian who has been living in Mexico for the last 8 years) and his wife Thais (who is Brazilian) have created a wonderfully relaxed and comfortable atmosphere at the hotel, which they officially opened in June '10.

We were in suite 1 (of only 6), which opens onto the beach and was very large, airy and comfortable for all three of us. Whether lounging in the hammock in our terrace facing the carribbean or sitting on the beach, we had just enough privacy and safety to feel very much 'at home' during our stay. Even during rainy or windy evenings we were able to stay 'outside' on our terrace, which avoided getting cagey in our room... in fact, other than for sleep we didn't spend much time in the room. The terrace, room and large bathroom were exceptionally clean, comfortable and nicely decorated.

The restaurant is perfectly small and cozy. The menu has enough range that other than a few lunches we didn't need to go anywhere else to eat. The quality of the food and the cuisines is top notch, lots of seafood and a signature paella that is not to be missed! Great breakfasts too.

The staff are all amazing. The quality of service leaves nothing to be desired, and everyone was so attentive, helpful and considerate; as a bonus, Henrique makes mean margharitas and pina coladas. All the staff were very accomodating in terms of flexibility around when, where or what we wanted to eat.

All in all, it was a perfect place to stay in every way, and we'd strongly recommend it, whether for a fun family holiday, a romantic getaway or just to relax on the beach away from the noisy and busy parts of the carribbean! We talked to other hotel guests and a few local expats who come there frequently for meals or to just hang out on the beach, and nobody had anything but accolades for the great food, friendly service and comfortable set-up.

We can't wait to go back to Villa Las Estrellas and have already started hatching plans to take the place over for a week or so with 5 other couples.

We are just returning from Tulum and really wanted to share the great experience we had staying in this cozy hotel. The owners and Lulu, the manager, create such a confortable enviroment that is transmited to all the people working in there and the visitors. The beds are wonderful and you can´t miss the paella.

Not write well in English but the important thing is I can understand. Thank you very much for choosing to spend their days off, restrictive practices every day to improve the service and make the stars hotel villa home in the Mexican Caribbean! Every day we hope to improve and exceed expectations. Have a beautiful year full of achievements. Thanks for being part of this story ...

We took over Villa Las Estrellas for one week with 12 of our friends to celebrate our wedding week. It was such a perfect place to stay! We loved the owners, the staff, the FOOD IS AMAZING (thank you Roberto!), the beach is a dream, the location is perfect, the rooms are wonderful and the beds are very very comfortable, I loved my bathroom too! The rooms have great light and can handle hairdryers if you need one (i did on my wedding day ;-)
Everyone in our group fell in love with Villa Las Estrellas, it was the perfect place to relax, bond and enjoy the beauty Tulum has to offer in total comfortable and beautiful accommodations. We had our wedding ceremony on the beach in front of the Villa and I am so very happy we did this. My husband and I were able to get ready in our rooms then just walk out to the beach to get married with all of our family and friends. It really was a magical time and I can't wait to go back home to Villa Las Estrellas next time we return to Tulum. I highly recommend this total to everyone and anyone, even if yo have children, this place is fantastic for all!!! Thank you everyone at Villa Las Estrellas for making our wedding week so magical and memorable, we will always cherish our time there and all the amazing memories.

We are a group of 4 Italian friends. We found a cheap flight to Cancun and then we stayed for a week at Villa Las Estrellas in Tulum .... What a paradise!
The hotel is on the beach, near the ruins, surrounded by nature.
The rooms are directly on the beach ... the sea is beautiful, like the beach... every morning you wake up and you see the fantastic Caribbean Sea ! There are fantastic sunbeds and hammock on the beach... only for the hotel guests.
The rooms are cozy, clean and well decorated! The breakfast is abundant and there is also an excellent restaurant with a very creative chef! You can eat every type of fish, vegetables, pasta...
.
We had a very nice days, ! For a special holiday, I recommend it!

My husband and I have just got back from a fabulous holiday in Tulum, Mexico where we stayed at Villa Las Estrellas which is situated on the beach front on the Tulum-Boca Paila Road km 8 leading out to the Biosphere reserve and Punta Allen.
The posada is run and owned by Simone (who is Italian but has been living in Mexico for the last 8 years) and his wife Thais, and they have created a very relaxed and homely atmosphere. The villa is new and has been very tastefully designed and decorated. The color theme throughout is white/beige and this gives you the feeling of open space and freshness. There are 6 suites and all are very large, airy and comfortable. All have en-suite bathroom and large terrace facing the sea with private access to the beach. The villa itself is basically on the beach and is only 25mts from the actual sea…… Each suite can accommodate up to 4 people so it was very spacious for just the 2 of us. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoons on the hammock in the peace and quiet of our own private terrace. Although we were there during the rainy season the posada was well equipped to protect the building from the rain and it was still possible to lie out on the terrace and enjoy the rain without actually getting wet!

The restaurant is small but has a great menu and a wonderful chef! Although the chef is Mexican there is a hint of Italian influence in the cuisine. The food was excellent and we ate there most days during our 2 week stay. Seafood aplenty and one of my favorite dishes was the paella. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and while we were there, many people who were just strolling by on the beach, popped in for a meal. There are only 6 tables and we would recommend that you book for evening meals over the week-ends. During our stay we noticed that Saturdays and Sundays proved very popular with both local and expat residents who enjoyed the hotel and its facilities most weekends.

We found the staff (both hotel and restaurant) very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant staff, (including the chef), also speak excellent English.

As animal lovers we also enjoyed playing on the beach with the owners 2 dogs. Swimming, snorkeling and walking along the beautiful clean beach made this a very special holiday for us. Another highlight of our stay was the privilege of witnessing turtles hatching right on the beach by the hotel restaurant and all guests and staff helping in getting the little turtles down to the sea as quickly as possible.

Simone was telling us that he has only been open since June and has plans for the near future. He hopes to open up a small boutique in the grounds of the posada near the road side and also plans to include massage facilities in his services. The garden grounds are very well cared for – lawns and tropical plants abound. All in all a lovely well cared for spot of heaven.

We will certainly return and hopefully in the not too distant future.

My husband & I have traveled to Tulum many times before but discovered this gorgeous new hotel on our most recent visit. Opened in June of this year, it's obvious that a great deal of thought has gone into every aspect of Villas Las Estrellas. It has just 6 rooms and all of those that we were shown were beautiful --- huge, comfy beds with lovely clean white linens and canopies, an in-room safe, good pressure in the shower with plenty of hot water, lots of storage to pack your things away (including the many pieces of reclaimed wood from the jungle that have been tastefully moulded into the walls to use as various hooks and hanging spots --- a very nice touch) and the most incredible view from your hammock on the spacious balcony overlooking the best part of Tulum beach. The Italian/Brazilian owners, Simone & Thais, and their staff are wonderful people who made us feel so completely at home during our week with them. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the ocean was a fabulous way to start each day with one of their spectacular cappacinos, a tasty bread/pastry selection and thoughtfully decorated fresh fruit plate. In fact, the food in the restaurant really does deserve a special mention as we were thoroughly spoiled by their chef, Roberto, throughout our stay. The much-loved resident hounds, Tequila & Polo, also get a special shout out --- l miss those sandy dogs! We were also lucky enough to be there during turtle-hatching season and were treated to three nights of baby turtles scurrying to the ocean from the surrounding dunes --- we even got to help a few stragglers along their way. We absolutely loved our stay at Villas Las Estrellas and are planning a return visit already.
