“Great, inexpensive food!”

Our hotel (Nueva Vida de Ramiro in Tulum) recommended this place to us, and it was worth the wait for some great fish tacos.. yum!

“Best seafood in Tulum (and probably the entire Riviera Maya)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Just ask for a small ceviche de pescado and you will immediately know you've come to the right place for seafood. Good quality, huge portions and low prices. What else could you ask for? Of course, a cold beer. Just pick your favorite.

“TYPICAL MEXICAN SEAFOOD”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

I was extremely happy to find this place by coincidence on a family trip earlier this year. The octopus was very well cooked, not chewy or hard to eat at all; in my opinion, well-cooked octopus is one of the hardest finds anywhere you go and for me it speaks by itself of any seafood restaurant. Fried fish was excellent, tasted like the good old times (this is coming from a mexican who hadn't been to Mexico in a while ok?), all kinds of ceviche tasted like heaven. I also liked that they have natural fruit drinks/juices like cantaloupe and pineapple, ask for one of those. Be aware of spicy food, it is actually really spicy (yum)!! The bill was decent taking in consideration all the food we ate. I gotta go back one day!

“Nothing special, low quality for low price.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

Me and my wife decided today, July 21st, after a long time, to walk again into el camello, after a not really exciting experience last year.
Seing long queues everyday outside the place, convinced us that something must have changed in the quality of the food there (we were sooooo wrong).
We ordered breaded fish tacos, breaded shrimp tacos and guacamole.
The quality of the food is still quite low (cannot understand why is it always so crowded): the fish was really dry, with a strong taste of burned oil, the shrimps didn't even taste like shrimps.
Only the guacamole and... my beer, a Bohemia Obscura, were good.
But the most irritating thing this time was the waitress... So sleepy... We had to ask 3 times for knives and forks, which arrived well after our food was brought to the table.
Even the starters made their way to our table just a few minutes before our ordered food arrived.
My wife ordered a fizzy lemonade, but she brought one made with still water!
What to say?
Before queing, have a good look around, you'll surely find better food anywhere else.
We'll try again in a few years, maybe.
You can continue queueing under the sun, but don't say we didn't tell you!
