We had a wonderful day with our guides Virginia and Alessandro on a Sian Ka'an trip.

When they picked us up at our hotel we knew right away that we had made the right choise by choosing Riviera Adventours. Both guys are so friendly and fun to be with.

We started out with some great snorkling outside the Tulum ruins. Eventhough the weather was perfect I felt seasick and had the best support in our guides. Virginia helped me feel better and I was so happy she did not rush anything. She told me "I have all day if you guys aren't in a rush to get home, we'll stay here as long as it take for you to feel better". Her support was amazing and soon I felt better.

We then visited some maya ruins and saw a lot of different trees. Interesting to visit this place with guides. After that we went to Sian Ka'an. This was AMAZING! Virginia showed us a trick to put on our life vest as a diaber and then we floded down the mangrove all by ourselves. This was very romantic and I feel so happy to experience this.

The day ended at Oscar and Lalo's - very yummi!

Virginia and Alessandro went out of their way to give us a great day and we are very thankful. If I could, I would give this review 2 more stars - 1 for Alessandro and 1 for Virginia.

“Customized tour is the way to go!”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

I set up my tour before I arrived in Mexico and everything went off without a hitch. Oscar and Virginia answered all my questions via email and even determine your sizes for life vests and fins beforehand. Since we had never gone to Coba ruins, we selected this tour and added sea turtle snorkeling. The day before, I received an email and then a call to our resort room verifying the time of pickup and who would be accompanying us for the day. They tell you everything you need (or don't need) to bring. I felt our possessions was always safe as the driver stays with the vehicle. We picked up a family first and went to Akumel for the sea turtles. What's great about this company is that they plan your trip so you are the first ones to arrive. We had the sea turtles all to ourselves and I was able to repeatedly follow them up when they surfaced for air. Fantastic experience! From there, the other group split off and the rest of the day was a private tour! Our guide Francisco really enjoys what he does and never rushed us at any point. We stopped next at a cenote that featured crystal clear water and underground caves. Again, we arrived early enough that we had the place pretty much to ourselves. By the time we left, it was starting to get crowded. Another amazing experience! From there, we headed to the interior for the Coba Ruins. The tour included a Mayan descendent guide who gave us a little background and history lesson. Francisco picked out some bikes for us and we rode from site to site. He even took tons of photos on our camera for us as we were ascending the big temple (the only one you can still climb of all the ancient ruins in the Yucatan). Then, we ended with lunch at Oscars & Lalos. Regrettably, the owners weren't there, but we had a lovely meal, complete with fresh coconut juice in the coconut. Francisco called ahead and got our order in, so as soon as we were seated, the food was served. He took another great photo of the two of us at our table, which is now my FB profile pic! O&L is a relaxing place, right off the main road, but once you're out in their tropical patio, you'll think you're out in the jungle (which you are technically, but this place isn't close to any of the resorts). Driving into our resort, our driver spotted a boa crossing the road. He was more than happy to stop and we all took lots of photos and video. All in all, it was a very fun day. In summary, if you want a more private tour or if you have a group, Riviera Adventours is the way to go as they are very accommodating. Only one caveat: depending on your resort or pickup spot, there may be a fuel surcharge. This info is somewhat buried on their web site, so be sure to find out the full cost before you commit. It's just a pet peeve of mine to be nickel and dimed. Still, they really take care of you...and another shoutout to Francisco!

There are a lot of tours on offer in the area, so many so that you almost think that there couldn't be much that distinguished them apart. They all offer snorkeling, cave exploring, Tulum ruins, a great lunch etc. BUT these guys are different! Extremely efficient, action-packed (without feeling rushed or energy-zapped), great delicious lunch (the Oaxaca cheese on the quesadillas is amazing!) and our tour guide FRANCISCO was brilliant. He is laid back but incredibly interested/ing with great knowledge on the area. He goes on-and-above to please. It felt like he was our long-time mate showing us his home town. Do yourself a favor and book this tour, you won't regret it!

“Amazing Day”
Reviewed 8 January 2014 via mobile

Wow what a great day. Our guide Francisco was fantastic. First stop the beach and coral reef to go snorkel with sea turtles. Within 2 minutes we spotted our first and saw about 10 in total. Some were huge, the shells were bigger than a circle you can make with your arms. Second stop Tulum ruins, they are right on the sea there is a beautiful view, third stop was the point where an underwater river comes out near the ocean. It had a combination of fresh and salt water and you could feel the layers, colder fresh water on top and the warmer ocean water on the bottom. The salt in the ocean water made it heavier. The schools of sardines were amazing. 4th stop was the cave Cenote snorkle. This will never be forgotten and was the highlight of the tour. Snorkeling below and around massive stalactites was very cool. It seemed like we kept going further and further in until we popped out with a skylight in the jungle. Next stop lunch. It was at Oscar and Lela's and was a fantastic meal. The Oxaca cheese in the quesadillas was awesome. They were our favorite quesadillas ever. Final stop another Cenote to zip line across and then after the long zip line we canoed back. Pretty fun. Then A short walk to a cliff jump into another Cenote and that is where we ended the amazing tour. Instead of just dropping us off at the hotel they brought us to the bus station as we needed to catch the bus out, then as there was a long line they took me back to the hotel to get the bags and then brought me back to meet my partner at the bus station. Such great service from an amazing company that has customer service engrained into their way of business.

“Fabulous day”
Reviewed 30 December 2013 via mobile

We just came back from a fabulous day long adventure with Riviera Adventours. Everything that this company promised was delivered top notch. My husband and myself, and our four adult children spent the day snorkeling with sea turtles in Akumel, exploring the ruins at Tulum and swimming at the fabulous Tulum Beach. We then went to Paridiso Beach for a boat trip to see Tulum from the Ocean and did more snorkeling on the coral reef. Following this we went Zip-lining and swimming in a magical jungle cenote. The day finished up with a wonderful 4 course lunch at Oscar and Layla's restaurant - great fresh local food in a delightful natural setting. Our guide, Francisco, made the day perfect. His English skills were excellent as was his knowledge of the area. Thank you Francisco, for making this such a memorable day for our family. It was special.
