“Just Amazing”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

My girlfriend and I needed a hotel that suited our needs/budget and we found so much MORE at Las Palmas Maya! Both of us are seasoned travelers and what we found was a great home base with everything that you will need to enjoy in Tulum! The kitchen was cleaner than my own and always had water and ICE at all times!!! The room had everything you will need (including ceiling and another fan which we enjoyed immensely), an awesome bathroom that always has hot water and daily cleaning that was great without being invasive.

Tom is as you have heard. Thorough, respectful, humorous and above all reliable. From smart food choices to inexpensive ways to enjoy everything you want. He has trained an amazing staff who are honest, helpful and playfully fun to speak to.

The thing to realize is that Las Palmas is RIGHT where you want to be. We went up and down the strip to find a better location and we couldn't. What you have is the perfect spot and jump on it!!! With the relationship they have created across the street you have the beach in 30 seconds and you have a KITCHEN to absorb cost!!!! There is a small market down the street where you can get your small stuff...a fridge to keep it in and then the beach. Honestly folks don't miss this gem.

Room Tip: All of them are good from what we saw. Lower rooms will be cooler but that is just thermodynamics.

My family and I stayed at Las Palmas Maya for five nights. We had a great experience! Tom (the manager) was extremely helpful and friendly, and gave us tons of excellent travel tips. It was great having the communal kitchen so we could prepare our own meals and there was always a full water dispenser! The hammock lounge above the kitchen was great for breaks from the sun. The grounds were very clean and tidy and there are bicycles for rent for cheap! There was access to the beach right across the road (be careful to watch for drivers while crossing there are a lot of dangerous drivers) and it is a perfect place for a family to stay! Thanks Tom!

We are thrilled that you and your family had such a great stay at LPM, and appreciate your thoughtful review. The communal kitchen without a doubt helps save on one's budget and glad you made use of it. Should your travels bring you back to our little piece of paradise, we hope to see you again!

LPM is a special place run by special people. We recently spent 6 nights there in a standard room. We are so glad we stayed at LPM. Tom was great, as was all the staff. Cheryl was terrific with reservations, making travel arrangements and providing information before our arrival. Everything worked as planned. We were curious to know how living off the grid was accomplished and Tom was gracious enough to show my husband how it works, it was quite fascinating. He also made several arrangements for us and everything was perfect! When we arrived time was taken to show us around and how everything works. It’s that personal attention that really makes LPM special. The shower was a delight and definitely worked as advertised. Our room was basic and spotless, mosquito netting worked like a charm, bed was comfortable (we slept great!), and an in-room safe was provided for money and small valuables. The property was tropical and well maintained. We felt safe - the property is staffed pretty much 24 x 7. Wi-Fi was available but we had trouble getting a signal in our downstairs room. The kitchen was a bonus and we used it on and off as we also enjoyed dining at the many restaurants nearby. There were a couple families staying there during our stay that were obviously making good use of the kitchen! We spent most of our beach time at Om across the street. Not only is it an incredible beach, but the staff and food at Om was great! There were plenty of restaurants and a small tienda in walking distance. We rented a motorbike (moped) for a few days – to travel to the grocery store (Chedraui), ruins and explore the area. Taxis are abundant on beach road and we never had to wait long for one to drive by. We loved Tulum, beautiful, quieter beaches, friendly people, and good food. We look forward to our next trip and stay at LPM!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experiences at LPM! Off-the-grid living can be a challenge, however we have worked hard to make it almost transparent. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. =) We appreciate your kind comments and hope that you are able to return soon. Thanks again!

We had the opportunity to spend three nights here at the beginning of our stay. Although it is the first time we have stayed here, we have visited every year since they opened up. Our room was great, we had the two bed room on the lower floor of the front suites. Very comfortable beds and a very clean room. The Manager, Tom, was accomodating as always and even loaned us a cooler to keep our beer cold for beach days! We really liked the community kitchen,so we could cook a few meals in and save a few dollars. Tom, or one of the staff, had coffee on every morning by 7 or so..(it was ready when we got up). The upstairs lounge is a great place to bring your own drinks enjoy a cocktail or two before dinner. The location is on the jungle side of the road, but there are numerous restaunts close by and access to the beach through the OM beach club right across the street. Just a few steps north is a little tienda that has cold beer, mix and some alcohol if you need it. If you want a real nice place to chill on the beach road, this is the place!!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, they do have a couple that will accomodate two couples if you are travelling...

Thank you so very much for the wonderful review. We are so happy that you were able to stay with us, after visiting before! Happy to hear that the Garden Suite, which is our newest room, was clean and comfortable and that you enjoyed the kitchen, hammock lounge, location and coffee. One's beer must stay cold, so glad that Tom was able to help you out with a cooler. Hope to see you next time!

Just back from 2 weeks at LPM. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It,s a very comfortable, relaxed place to stay in Tulum, very close to beach and plenty of restaurants. It isn,t at all like a resort, if you want that you would probably be better off going to Cancun, but a stay at LPM is like staying at a friends place. All the staff are great but Tom, the manager, is an absolute star. He works really hard to ensure every guest is satisfied and deserves every bit of praise he receives. He listens to all questions and comes up with really good suggestions for trips, restaurants, orders your taxis, books tours etc. Nothing feels like too much trouble. Thanks to you all.

We really appreciate your kind words and thank you for taking the time to write a review. There is always a bit of a concern when someone books a lengthy stay, particularly if they have not been to Tulum before. I am so thrilled that your experience was positive and that it was the vacation for which you had hoped! You said you would "happily return"...we would happily welcome you back!

I felt the need to write this review because of the excellent service that Cheryl provided to me and my family as we were planning our trip to Tulum. We reserved a spot at Las Palmas Maya, excited about all these great reviews. However, our trip took an unexpected twist and we were very concerned about how to resolve our reservation. Cheryl was incredibly patient with our questions and treated us very kindly (though we were being difficult!). I can't say anything about the location itself, but I can say that we will certainly book another trip to this place - based on the service alone! Not often you find someone so caring in the service industry!
