We spent 10 days in this lovely accommodation and loved every minute of it. this certainly isn't a place to go if you want entertainment, but if you want peace, quiet and a beautiful beach then look no further. People that criticize places like this just don't do enough research into where they are going as I can honestly say that it was even better then some of the good reviews. Yes you really do need a car to get there, but after that take you shoes off and lay back and relax on the lovely sunbeds. no fighting for one here as there are one for every room. Yes the rooms are quite basic and it would have been nice to have a fridge but we really didn't find it a problem as the bar drinks are not too expensive. the food is very good and compared with having to negotiate the speed bumps and crabs on the road back into Tulum at night just atay and eat there, or walk up the beach to one of the other hotels.
The staff were really lovely and couldn't do enough to help.
We were very fortunate to have been on the beach one evening when a nest of Turtles hatched, and were able to help keep the frigate birds away whilst they rushed to the sea!

Room Tip: All nice but a beachfront is obviously best

Modern bungalows with AC smack-bang on the beach. We had a very enjoyable 3 nights here, loved the spaciousness & modern relaxed feel of the resort, the friendly staff & the fantastic restaurant on site.

I was so happy we picked this hotel for our stay in Tulum, the only regret was not being able to stay longer!

We enjoyed the beautiful beach, lying on the comfy day beds, drinking yummy cocktails and eating fresh fish ceviche & tacos on the beach.

Only negative is the walk from the hotel to the main part of Tulum is a bit scary at night as the road is not well lit. But given the on-site restaurant is excellent value & serves amazing delicious fresh seafood, Italian & Mexican dishes we actually preferred to stay in for dinner!

Room Tip: Get one of the oceanfront rooms!

This was the last place we stayed on our honeymoon and is definitely the one we'll go back to! Great staff, food, environment and pretty much everything else. Since it's a bit further down the coast than many of the other hotels/eco resorts, it was much quieter and less crowded than other places in Tulum and the quality of the beach was better.

Tulum now holds a special place in my heart. I will always remember this vacation as the whole experience was very special.

Stayed 7 nights/ 8 days end of August through September 1 in room #10. Our reason for vacationing here were to attend a wedding at this resort. We pretty much booked the whole resort out for almost the whole week (some people arrived later).

The owners were genuinely warm, caring and attentive. I work in hospitality and noticed how a watchful eye was kept over the whole resort and guests.

The restaurant staff, Jorge, Jose Manuel and the rest of the team provided exceptional service. We are a big group with many needs and request at different times. Their delivery was always friendly. They learned our names. Two rooms in our group had 3 people splitting a room and consequentially the tab. They had little electronic devices so that they were accurate in securing the order and indicating who ordered it so that the bill would be split for each person at check out.

We spent a lot of time lounging on the beach ... ordering drinks and food. I noticed how they would always look at each guest and party and notice when a drink needed replenishing or when someone needed to order a snack or meal.

Housekeepers were consistent in how they cleaned the room. They would put everything in a nice and orderly manner and the room always had a clean, spa aroma after they left. No trace of harsh abrasive detergent smell.

The Reception Desk Team were extremely cordial, outgoing and helpful. They gave us great recommendations, helped us out even when one of our friends fell ill with the flu and had the chef cook some chicken soup (not on the menu). Another time a friend's daughter had some little insect bites/rash and the owners gave them some ointment/cream to use.

The rooms have AC (a very rare thing indeed in Tulum), a safe big enough for cameras, lenses, passports and even a small boss system, saltwater showers, and electricity.

We stayed in room #10, 2nd floor and loved the breeze that came through. Being that its rainy season... in the middle of the night the winds would come but our room was set back a bit so we were sheltered from the strong gusts.

Since we had the whole resort, we explored all of the rooms and we agreed each one, even the garden rooms were delightful. The bride got ready in Garden Room #15 which is very large and chic.

At the end of the day- you have AC so any room really would be fine. We never spent much time in the room except for getting ready to head out or retiring for the night. All our daytime naps were on the beds and hammocks out on the beach.

Tulum in general has a Bohemian vibe. Eco Chic. Yoga is prevalent. The road is two lanes. Tree lined and covered. Reminded me of the Hana Highway in Maui.

So you land in Cancun where the hotels are Vegas Style Large and resorts are 2000 rooms deep. I envision Cancun is to tourists to what cattlefarms are to cows. Then you get to Playa del Carmen, where resorts are probably 500+ rooms large, more elegant..... think of a classy mall in Miami... you still have crowds and one big hotel after another.

In Tulum you will find small boutique hotels that are from 5 to 20 rooms. The pace is slow. The people have brilliant eyes and perpetual smiles. The beaches are tranquil. In the air you'll hear the sound of the waves and the occasional birds. As you walk you'll encounter people doing yoga, or having easy, lazy conversations. At night, you see the stars. There's no light pollution. And if you're up late enough, you'll see the moon rise and if you're lucky - turtles.

When you're with friends you'll have a chance to really reconnect.

Rosa del Viento's location is towards the end of the Tulum road of boutique hotels, closer to the reserve. When we drove this road I would feel the stress from the hustle and bustle melt away and we'd slow down to the pace of total relaxation.

Thank you so much Rosa del Viento for such a wonderful and heart touching vacation. We hope to see you again!

Room Tip: We loved room #10 which is a 2nd floor ocean view. We did see all of the other rooms and you can...

My wife and I stayed at the Rosa del Viento for 6 nights in May 2013. This hotel was selected by our travel agency back home in Paris.

The experience was average and the service inconsistent.

The room we obtained was on the ground floor which in itself is not a problem but its orientation and location made it so that we had to close the curtains almost all the time because we were in full view of the center square of the hotel complex.

The room itself was well organized with a comfortable bed, a sofa, a cupboard with a safe, and a nice bathroom.

During the first day, we did not have the remote control to modify the air conditioning because the staff could not find a remote control that worked. It was sorted out the day after our arrival. There seems to be occasional issues with the electrical power at night, because every night, the current would go out and we had to turn the air conditioning back on.

Staff was generally helpful.

The restaurant menu lacked some typical Mexican specialties. We dined there a couple of times. The quality of the food was very good sometimes but below average at other times.

eco-friendly hotel, nice staff. it's in front of the caribbean sea, right beside sian ka'an nature reserve, a bit far from stores, bars and restaurants (and the city of tulum itself). has some umbrellas and hammocks for its guests in the beach but it's also open to the public. Has 24x7 room service and electricity supply (from a generator), that feeds air conditioning in the rooms. the menu prices aren't high. the bad point is the smelly and salty tap/shower water, probably from a well.
