You know how you hope that when you book a place you so hope that it is as good as the photos you've seen on the website... Zamas exceeds expectations. We loved the location - it's own beach, plenty of loungers and hammocks, the lovely colourful cafe/restaurant for leisurely breakfasts, lunches and also dinners, the cabins and that basically you arrive and live in your flip flops and relax. The hotel staff are lovely and there were two excellent managers - one daytime and one in the evening who are very visible and approachable. One of our children needed to see a doctor and they were able to arrange for one to come to the hotel in half an hour. It is an environmentally conscious hotel which is reflected in its cooking on a wood fire, homemade bread and wood oven pizzas. Lots of choices on the menu and all good. We were lucky to enjoy a couple of dinners with visiting chefs from San Francisco which was a bonus! Mexidivers start their trips right from the beach so you can go diving or snorkelling at the reef or centotes. The hotel recommended a great place for yoga which was a 5 minute walk (Maya Tulum) as well as cenote's etc. Behind the hotel is a small strip with some places to eat and some stalls selling jewellery and other souvenirs so you have wander nearby. And I have to mention the music - Zamas has some great playlists (which was the first in our 3 weeks on the peninsula!) Tulum seems to be divided into one long strip of hotels right along the beach (just beyond Zamas) where you feel you are part of a long line of hotels). So Zamas, by being set apart, feels that bit more special. Thank you to everyone at Zamas!

Room Tip: We're a family of five with 3 teenagers. We booked beach rooms and they were just set behind the...

Absolutely great place to just sit back and relax. The cabanas are very spacious, with 2 queen beds and a very big bathroom. The hammocks outside the cabana are a great touch!
The restaurant of Zamas offers quality and fresh food all day.

Only minus is the beach. There were huge amounts of seaweed on the beach, so we didn't even try to swim there. We had a car so we just drove around and used other beaches instead.

Room Tip: The cheaper side sea view cabanas are just as great the the ones that are on the beach, as they are...

We loved this small quiet spot on the Tulum beach, everyone from the restaurant help, concierge, managers and owner were accomodating and friendly. The restaurant is great too, very fresh food: breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Room Tip: We had the family room, with a king, a queen and tow twin beds, very spacious.

My husband and I started our vacation at zamas by spending 4 blissful days in a cabana on the jungle side. It was more like a small cottage. A huge bathroom, sitting area and lots of space. The pictures on the website do not do it justice.

We loved the low key vibe, quietness, and peace. There was no pressure from staff for anything. We kept to ourselves, went up and down beach row, visited many different places and early to bed. It was the first time in years I slept the entire night through without dreaming. Loved it.

I wont repeat as many of the reports comment on the wifi, restaurant and nice staff. I agree.
Tips:
You can bring a collapsible cooler for beer or other drinks. About 5 minutes from the hotel there is a little store that sells ice and what ever you need.
Sunscreen is outrageous in price. Brings a lot.
Bugspray is a must. I got many bites even though I did use it.

Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Great place to visit.

Our stay was amazing. We stayed on the beach in a cabana. The room was small but perfect for the two of us.
The only issue that I had was the evening hours, there was lots of traffic, head lights, music and noise. When sitting on the beach trying to enjoy the sky and peacefulness it's not possible before 10-11pm. But, I would stay at Zamas again for sure. I love how they care about the environment and have such respect for the beach and land. Hats off! The staff was awesome and very helpful.
Thanks for an amazing vacation!

My stay at Zamas was beautiful, clean, easy going, and friendly. I honestly can't say enough about this place. The location is terrific and the oceanfront cabanas are more than worth the price. Hammocks on your porch and 50 feet between you and the coastline! The hotel restaurant serves excellent food and drinks, complete with ocean views. However, the best part of Zamas is the staff. I really enjoyed getting to know them over the course of 5 days. They're full of great advice for things to do and very patient with my almost non-existent Spanish. At Zamas, time slows down in the best possible way.

Wi fi not available in the room, but accessible in the reception/restaurant area. It worked well enough for vacation purposes (Instagramming, email, texting, Twitter, Google Maps, Google Translate).

Also, the mojitos are amazing...just sayin'.

Zamas was a little piece of paradise for our family in our recent Spring-Break trip in March 2014. We stayed in a two-queen-bed cabana across the 1 1/2 lane road from the restaurant and beach, right next to the dive shop. The view from the cabana porch was gorgeous. Every morning we awoke to the songs of birds and the sound of the waves, the morning light playing on the (pretty but unnecessary) mosquito netting around our bed.
The restaurant was our home base for meals, always delicious with good service. We trusted the safety and quality of the food, and we were glad that we were able to venture out to other places and not feel limited to just eat one place. Nonetheless, we kept coming back. Loved loved loved the Gambol Pil-Pil. OMG. My 12 year old daughter fell in love with shrimp on the trip, and consumed her weight in Watermelon Agua Fresca. We had just enough Wi-Fi at the restaurant to check out emails and post a picture or two of our trip on Facebook.
The private beach was very nice by most standards. Secluded, a little rocky on the edges, but fun for playing in the waves. It only suffers in comparison because a couple of km away there is a world-class beach. We enjoyed both. The beach at Zamas had fewer people, a bit more shade, a more relaxing scene. But the other beach was powdered-sugar perfection, and dazzling sun, that went on for miles and miles. We spent time on both and each had their charms.
We liked the music scene at night at the restaurant -- just a bit of laid-back entertainment, not the whole falderal of Disney-type production at a big resort. Just a nice way to pass the time, with a drink, watching the waves, enjoying the moonlight. When we were ready for bed (we are not night-owls), it was nice to be able to get away from the music by going to our cabana. We could hear it faintly, but it was in no way a disturbance to our dreams...

Room Tip: The second floor cabanas across the street are perfect for a small family and only a two-minute walk...
