We didn't stay here but had many meals and drinks over our week in tulum late July. We discovered the hotel after a SUP tour with Mauricio who runs paddle and kite boarding lessons from the hotel - highly recommended! The food was some of the best we ate in Mexico and the service was the best we had experienced in our 3 week vacation! We are already planning our return trip to tulum and will be staying at the Ahau Hotel.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in.
We had 2 ocean view rooms, beautifully appointed and totally in keeping with this wild strip of beach. The food is very good and the kitchen will accommodate for specific requests too. There is a raw food cafe on the property which has delicious pizzas. The atmosphere that is created mostly by the staff and the super cool music is truly wonderful. Easy to relax or as we did both relax and explore. The hotel organised a superb diving cenote trip and the on-site kite and paddle surf is exceptional. We partcipated in yoga, aerial dance, massage and traditional healing ceremonies, There is a lot to do if you want to in Tulum but luxuriating on the beach in a sheltered hammock was just as wonderful. thank you for a speical holiday - we will be back

We stayed here last June for 10 nights. It was a perfect getaway at the end of a Canadian winter.

We were upgraded to the Junior Beachfront Suite and couldn't be more pleased! The room was beautiful with a private patio with a hammock and just steps from the ocean. They offer bikes for hire, which was how we got around, its a nice cycle into town and also to the ruins.

The food at the restaurant was great, best octopus I've ever had. Meals were similar to American prices but worth it.

Excellent hotel with a nice restaurant serving everything from Breakfat to lunch/dinner. Located on the beach so if you like to walk around in the sand this is the place. Relaxed feeling, nice staff and great value for money. We stayed in the Bali Hut. You share one house with another couple, we had the ground floor. Houses are small, but works fine for beach life where you have the ocean just in front of you. Ahau also offers more spectacular and more expensive houses. If we where getting back to Tulum we would stay here again.

Room Tip: TOP floor more silent but ground floor has very nice and more immediate access to outdoor bathroom

We stayed at Ahau Tulum and loved it but the real gem was the Raw restaurant on the premises. The food creation is artistry created using fresh food and flora from around the property. The shakes, food and deserts were complex and fresh. Niki and her husband (unfortunately I do not remember his name) are a beautiful couple infusing love for each other and love for the earth into every creation. I MUST for vegans, raw foodists and anyone interested in trying very special cuisine.

Room Tip: I like the ocean view junior suite. I missed out on the one on the lower level with the a/c and was...

Ahau Tulum is the quintessential Tulum accommodation. It embodies everything wonderful about Tulum -- eco-conscious rooms, delightful and friend staff, and overall zen tranquility permeates throughout Ahau. The location is on a great part of the beach (no coral, seaweed) and everything is kept so pristine with lots of love. We looked at Be Tulum as an alternative, but it seemed a bit too inauthentic for our standards (which was confirmed when we visited the property). Ahau will not disappoint. LOOK NO FURTHER!

Room Tip: If you're going during a cooler time of the year, opt for a room on the 2nd floor, this way you...

Hello!

We are very happy to hear that here in Ahau we were able to make your vacations a great experience. We are also glad to hear that our staff delighted you and that you experienced and enjoyed our rooms and tranquility. Our maintenance department works hard to keep our Tulum piece of beach clean every day and with your great comments about it we know that the work is worth it. We really would like to see you again back un Tulum and in Ahau anytime soon.

We visited many of the restaurants and hotels in Tulum during our stay last week, and we both agreed that the food, service and architecture at Ahau were our favorite and we were very glad we selected this amazing place as our home for the week. We stayed in the master suite and it was divine. We were worried we wouldn't really make use of the patio, but it is a great place to relax after you're done being in the sand for the day. I think we spent every evening out here before and after dinner. Ahau is a pretty quiet spot at night, so if you want a little more lively scene, make sure to visit Ziggy's Beach Club. It's just south of Ahau and we had a blast here on Wednesday night (live music almost every night I think). At the Ahau restaurant, we basically ate everything, and all was good. First night I had the pepino margarita but soon switched to the stronger Dorada and drank those the rest of the week. Don't be afraid to ask for buckets of beer on the beach, or anything else you desire, as at Ahau, they pride themselves on making your stay comfortable. All of the wait staff was super friendly, and the housekeeping staff was very thorough; we even had turn down service without requesting it. The beach is incredible here, but if you're willing to go north up the beach road, check out the public beach near Mezzanine Hotel. We definitely experienced the best water of the week here.

Only negative thing I can say is to rent your bike elsewhere. We found ourselves eyeing bikes that were in better shape, and regretting just getting them from the hotel. Also, service in Tulum, in general, is slow. Don't expect to be waited on like you are in New York or LA. Just relax and prepare yourself, as it's just the speed here.

All in all, Ahau is a remarkable hotel in a remarkable place. Make sure to explore and enjoy!

Room Tip: The master suite was wonderful, but we would most likely take a junior suite next time; still wonder...
