Tulum in general was not a great experience, compared to all the other places we've stayed in Mexico (were everyone has been really friendly) in Tulum they were anything but that.

At the 'restaurant' we ordered drinks and food, we finally got the drinks after 20 mins (and having to remind them that we'd ordered drinks). We brushed this off after all it's Mexico the pace leans towards the more laid back side of life. But after waiting over 1 hour for food we decided to ask what was taking so long. Turns out they didn't even know that we'd ordered food, even though the waiter 'very sheepishly' after hiding in the back of the bar, had admitted he'd forgotten the order, the owner's point of view was that it was my fault for not asking after 30 mins instead of waiting for an hour. After refusing to pay for the drinks as we were pretty frustrated by the whole scenario, the owner got a little prickly to say the least and then demanded that we paid triple for the drinks or he would call the police. Realising that in this situation we were in a loose loose situation we settled the bill for the original price of the drinks.

The hotel followed suit in the same vein. The room was dirty. There was semen on the sheets (unfortunately it wasn't me who had 'got lucky' but an unknown visitor prior to our stay. The shower was broken and 'spat' rather than flowed, the safe was broken, we finally got that sorted after an hour of a guy messign with it (that didn't fill me with confidenece that my things were safe).

Unfortunatley for us it was NYE and it kind of sowered what has so far been a wicked 3 weeks in Mexico. My advice is skip Tulum altogether but if you have to stop by there then don't stop by at the Andrea's Tulum 'Hotel'.

I very rarely write reviews about hotels because I stay in at least 1 a week with my job, so when I write a review I am either very very impressed or it was that bad others need to be warned

Bad Points
*Old Fashioned Rooms
*Security Box was broken on arrival
*Arrogant/Rude/Bored staff
*Expensive (75 pound per night over New Years)

My experience at the hotel , we decided to order food and drinks from the bar downstairs, 2 beers and 2 soft drinks .... 20 minutes for the beers to arrive and we were the only 3 in the restaurant. We ordered 1 mixed grill, after 1 hour of waiting I spoke to the waiter to ask where my food was and was told we never ordered any food. It was my GF that ordered the food and she is Mexican so speaks fluent Spanish , so we cant even use the excuse that of a language barrier.

The manager then come to my table with a menu and said order now , no apology ...he just said his staff must not have heard. My friend then said would they discount his drink for the inconvience of him waiting 1 hour for his food , the manager then became aggressive and old me he was going to phone the police and charge me 3 times as much for our drinks.

The manager of the hotel then decided to come face to face with my friend. Trying to make him feel intimidated. This is not customer service and just made me feel like leaving the same day

So if you want an hotel where guests are made to feel uncomfortable by the Staff - Andrea's is the one !!!

But do yourself a favour and do not book at this Hotel
