Great "Winter Break" location. Just spent 10 days in March 2014 at a one bedroom villa at clothing optional Mak Nuk Village resort. Large modern unit with private hot tub. Great staff and good food. Walking distance to Tulum village with shopping and restaurants. Only down side is it is not on the beach but they have frequent free shuttles to a nude beach.

Room Tip: Consider taking local bus instead of airport taxi - much cheaper.

Just spent the week there with Exotic Travel and stayed a few more days after. Beautiful resort and my husband and I really enjoyed the beach area. Yes its about a 30 min drive to the beach, but the resort does provide a shuttle service. We rented a car so it was a short drive. The beach is very nice and Mak Nuk does have a rest room on the beach site.

We had a one bedroom with kitchen. Which was great. The resort is within walking distance of Tulum and everywhere we ate in town the food was great. It was very easy to get to the local grocery store for supplies. There are a lot of side trips you can take in Tulum and would recommend you take time to see the Maya ruins. But if you want to just stay at the resort and relax you will enjoy it.

Brand new complex of studio 1or 2 bedroom condos with a/c satelite tv with us channels
Beautiful apts overlooking huge pool with swim up bar and newly opened restaurant
Great staff
Close to town and beach
Clothing optional which was kinda strange at first but after a while it's just another naked person in the pool- no big deal
They also have a beach club
Mike and Chrissy have really created something special here in tulum that blows away any other hotel in the area by leaps and bounds
Give mak nuk a try

Mak Nuk is new and the rooms are high end; very nice. Exotic Travel Services had an all inclusive trip with all food, drinks and fun you could want. Live bands and a great place with a swim up pool to each of the first level rooms. They are planning another trip in October. Can't wait to go back. This place is close to Tulum and they have a private beach, white sand, blue ocean. WOW

My wife and spent last week at Mak Nuk and it was as nice as described by the earlier reviews. We were part of a group that had pretty much filled every room at the complex.
We had a suite, which is the smallest room offered. The suite is one room without a kitchen but is very spacious and because we were on the all inclusive plan, the kitchen was not missed.
We generally do not like all inclusive plans but here the food was very good and usually included two choices. The drinks were made fresh and were very good.
As this was there grand opening, there was some confusion at first. However, by mid week everything was running well. The staff is a major plus for this complex.
The complex is located about 3 blocks from town. It feels like it is in the jungle. The beach is about 20 minutes away and a shuttle is available multiple times a day for transport to and from the beach. It is their private beach and is isolated and very special.
There are still some kinks to be worked out and some things to be finished, but we would love to come back and it is a bargain at the current prices.
