“Posada Luna del Sur is like a home away from home”
Reviewed 5 November 2008

My girlfriend and I haven't traveled in quite a bit but most recently we decide to take a short 6 day trip in Mexico. We both have been to Mexico numerous times in our lives but not on a vacation together, this trip to Mexico we found to be the best yet.

We wanted to see if TRIP ADVISOR was ultimately helpful in finding a place to stay and if the recommendations where what they said they where. We had no Idea how wonderful our trip to TULUM could be until we started to exchange e-mails with the owners of the Posada Luna del Sur. From the moment we got off the bus we knew TULUM would be a great starting point for our short vacation.

Jack the hotel owner of Posada Luna del Sur and I had been exchanging emails for the last couple of weeks basically asking questions on my part. He was very helpful in directing us what to see and where to go when we do get there.

Upon our arrival we where warmly greeted by the hotel personal and we where able to drop our stuff off at the room, within 5 minutes of us walking into our large wonderful room, Janet the hotel owner came to pay us a visit and let us know how things worked in the room.

We washed the road traveling off our bodies and visited the hotel Owners and spent a wonderful time chatting with Jack and Janet about everyday life and our plans for our trip.
Janet and Jack took us to the most wonderful family owned restaurant in town and we proceeded to eat until our gourds where full.

We cannot express in words how much fun we had talking with our new friends and how much we enjoyed our two night stay in TULUM at the Posada Luna del Sur, again we could not have picked a better starting point for our short trip

If you can't be happy here....you can't be happy anywhere!

Thank you Posada Luna del Sur (Jack and Janet) for making our mini vacation EXCELLENTA!

We stayed in the beginning of October 4 days in Posada Luna del Sur. We had a great time. The room was clean, big and we had clean towels and hot water every day. Indeed Jesus suprised us every day with his towel creations. Cute! Jack and Janet were very friendly and helpfull and that made our stay even more pleasant.
Overall we had a perfect stay and start of our trip through Mexico and Guatamala. It was one of the best hotels of our trip!

Thanks to Janet and Jack (and Jesus)

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. The rooms are large and comfortable. Plus you get to be surprised each day with amazing towel origami by the housekeeper Jesus. Anyways, no complaints at all, you get AC, fridge, television, and a small closet safe. They don't offer beach towels which would have been nice and you do have to turn on the hot water heater and wait ten minutes before taking a shower and then turn it off after. Not that big of a deal because I know they are just trying to save on electricity. We had to buy our beach towels at the supermarket, they were like $4 each. They also offer covered parking, but there are only spots for five cars so if you go in high season you may want to inquire if you will be able to use it.

This hotel is in town, so if you don't have a car you are looking at a 4km walk to the beach, so you'll probably want to catch a taxi. Other than that you are close to numerous restaurants. There is an ATM a 5 minute walk away (they only take cash for payments) and there are several internet shops close too (no internet available in your room).

I highly recommend this for folks who are willing to stay in town and pay way less than you would if you booked one of the beach hotels. It was nice and quiet here and I felt very safe. Thank you Janet, Jack and Jesus!

My wife and I have family and own property in Mexico. we wanted to sample somewhere secluded and elated we found Posada Luna del Sur. This facility far exceeds $$$ all inclusive resorts (i.e. Dreams) which should be called "Nightmares". Lunda del Sur is by far the best place to bed down and enjo cool comforts and 5-Diamond service from Jack & Janet. We would need much more space to tell anyone reading this that Luna was clean, safe and well lit for security (including the hot water heater light....gotta go to witness this fun feature). We are proud to say that we departed after our 5-days culturing a long term friendshiop with Jack and Janet which will last far into the future. The hotels on the beach were just that and mucho $$$. Get a bike, smartcar,m rent-a-car and take the 5-minute ride to the beach. The beach is beautiful and tropical. Luna del Sur is more beautiful and warm and friendly. We truly mis our mew best friends and plan to return soon.

My boyfriend and I just spent 4 nights at Posada Luna del Sur at the beginning of September. We had a great time! The room was spacious, sparkly clean and wow was the bed huge and comfy! The hotel was quiet, super cute and right around the corner from a grocery store so you can fill up the fridge in your room with drinks and goodies. Our room also had a little outside area and hot water! This is not always common in Mexico.

Janet and Jack were super nice and had great recommendations for things to do that were not overrun with tourists. Janet arranged for a friend of hers, Manuel, to pick us up one morning morning and we spent an awesome day together. It was just the 3 of us so the excursion was very personal. Manuel took us first to the nearby Yal-Ku Lagoon where he took us snorkeling. Simply beautiful. And then we were off to a private cenote where we went snorkeling again...in a cave...with flashlights! It was awesome! You should check out their tours. It's called Manzanos Expeditions. Look them up online.

And it's pretty easy to get to the ruins and the beach. Just catch a cab or collectivo van. It's super cheap. Also, the beach is public so you can bring your own drinks and food.

But we had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

The owners were incredibly helpful and nice. Rooms were big, quiet, and clean. It was a pleasure to stay there. From there, we were close to the Tulum temple and the Xel-Ha park.

The room was the cleanest among all the rooms we visited during our holidays in Mexico, and it is well furnished too, with all things you could need.
They gave us breakfast included and it was good and rich.
Janet and Jack are so nice, helpful and attentive, they give a lot of useful information to live your vacation in the beast way.
Thanks also to Jesus for his beautiful towels sculptures!
