“Friendly, relaxing and comfortable stay”

My daughter and I wanted a quiet 'get a way' vacation. We loved Posada Luna del Sur!
Jack and Janet were helpful and so friendly. We received recommendations for restaurants, beach clubs, activities, and more.
Our room was spotless, clean and spacious. We enjoyed the refrigerator and storage space in the room.
We loved going to breakfast and having the freshly baked Mexican sweet breads, croissants, fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit and coffee. We met so many interesting people and it was fun to hear about what all they were doing.
Janet recommended Ana y Jose's beach club and it was awesome. The beach was beautiful, food was outstanding, wonderful beach chairs, clean restrooms and showers, and great massage. The kayak trip was also great.
We loved Posada and would return again.

Jack and Janet's inn is great! You must stay here at least for a few nights. They are both wonferfully helpful and interesting. We had fun just talking to Janet and learning about Tulum and where to eat, shop, hit the beach, etc. They are truly amazing hosts and they take good care of their property.

Our room was perfect in every way. It was cute, quiet, comfortable, clean, etc. We didn't stay in it much since we used our time to explore the city but it was very nice. You cannot beat the price either.

Make sure you stay here and explore Tulum... once you get to the beach you may not want to come back into town so we reccomend staying here first.

My wife and I loved the two nights we spent at the "Posada". Our stay was a unique experience for us. Typically we stay at remote places on the beach that cost many times the price of Posada, but this time we decided to try something different and as they say "viva la difference". All the other reviewers have been accurate in their description of the cleanliness and the encylopedic knowledge of the area by the owners Janet & Jack. One thing we particularly liked was the no guests under 16 allowed. Who wants to sleep on mattresses that have been peed and [-] on? Mingling with the other guests at breakfast was also a great source of information and helped guide us in our choice of restaurants and things to do
while in Tulum. A number of the guests were repeaters and it's easy to understand why. We will stay here when we return.

We feel fortunate to have spent a week in Tulum at Jack & Janet's lovely Posada this past January. We enjoyed our stay immensely, and having a comfortable home to come back to was the perfect end to our adventurous days! Here are a few highlights that I feel are important to note about this hotel:

- Cleanliness. This hotel is spotless, and our room was cleaned thoroughly every day. I am particular about this, and I was not disappointed to come to our room every evening. Jesus' towel creations were icing and flowers on the cake. During our stay we we were welcomed by swans, a sitting girl, a turtle, and an elephant, to name a few. When you see them, you cannot resist the urge to take a photo!

- Location. The Posada is located on a side street off of the main street in Tulum, and is withing walking distance of pretty much everything in town (it is literally a one-traffic light and two roundabout town!). It is not on the beach, but the beach is easily reached by car / taxi, and I understand you can also rent bikes. The town of Tulum itself is not the most beautiful, but the hotel itself is bright, cheerful and has a lovely little garden that runs along one side.

- Conviviality. This by far was the best feature of the hotel. Every morning we would go down for breakfast and would talk to not just Janet and Jack but also fellow travelers. It was a great way to find out what to do for the day and to plan future trips using tips from other guests! Jack and Janet provided us with amazing recommendations to see Sian Ka'an (amazing birds!), a pristine cave/cenote, and snorkeling. On other days we went on our own adventures, but the ones they recommended were truly memorable. They also provided suggestions for restaurants, which was very helpful.

We had an incredible trip to Tulum, and Jack, Janet, Jesus, Don Rafael, our fellow Posada guests, and the amazing Yucatan peninsula were all a part of making this an particularly amazing experience. We feel as if we have met a part of our extended family in Tulum and can't wait to stop by again.

Seriously, you are wasting your time reading these over and over. This place rocks. Jack and Janet are the best hosts you could hope for. For those of you who just have to read it again....

Clean rooms (not always the case at other hotels in Tulum), air conditioning, hot water, great free breakfasts, wi-fi, 5 minutes to the beach, and a central location to the town. Best of all, the advice from Janet on where to eat (.....trust her because my wife got sick when we went to another place in the guidebooks) and what to do are worth the room cost alone! Hint, take the kayak trip to Sian Kaan with CESIAK guide Jorge...what a blast! Plus everyone and I mean everyone we met who was staying at the hotel was friendly and fun...... get ready to make some new friends!

If you want to experience real Mexico, eat the best local food at great prices, and spend time experiencing friendly Mayan people, Tulum is the place for you..so stay at this hotel. If all you want to see of the locals is a cabana boy bringing you an overpriced Margarita..then head to the beach hotels there are plenty of pricey establishments for you there.

P.S My wife said Janet took care of her better than her own mother.

Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

This place is awesome! The owners are two of THE nicest people. They are always willing to help and are very understanding. They speak English well, if that is one of your worries, and if you like to speak Spanish, their security guard is also very fun to talk to. Breakfast is provided with your stay and it is delicious. I would highly recommend this "Charming" place for your stay in Tulum, Mexico.

Posada Lunda del Sur is ranked #1 on Trip Advisor for good reason - it is a wonderful quaint getaway with amazing and welcoming owners! My (then) fiance and I snuck away for 2 private days in Tulum before our wedding on Isla Mujeres - and Janet and Jack welcomed us with open arms! The room was clean and comfortable, and had everything you could ever want! (a/c, large bottle of drinking water, fridge, etc.) The free breakfast was perfect - fresh squeezed OJ and french pressed coffee, fresh local pastries and fruit... and conversations with Janet and Jack, whom will point you in the right direction for anything you need! Janets restaurant suggestions for dinner were spot-on, and they even offered to set my husband up with a fishing guide for the day! They also headed us in the right direction to explore the Sian Kaan for the day, and we had a wonderful time exploring the lagoons. We cant wait to get back to Tulum to visit our new friends!
