“Best Vacation of my Life”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

I stood at Zenserenity this past week. I had called prior to my stay to let them know I was celebrating my anniversary, the agent was very kind and took note of all the details I wanted in the room and they were so kind to comp the amenities I had requested (champagne and a fruit platter). As soon as we arrived, the clerk was very welcoming and charming, walked us to our room and gave us a welcoming refresher (amazing btw). She explained to us everything we needed to know about the area and things to do during our stay. 2 beautiful Beaches walking distance (5 & 10 minutes away). You can rent bikes $20/day and head to town if you want to try great ceviche and margaritas El Camello is well recommended with fresh fish daily (LOVED IT). The food at the restaurant was GREAT and each day the menu vary, options were Italian, Mexican and Asian. Best breakfast too and room service 24/7. Many sightseeing not too far from hotel such as Ruins and Zenotes. If you are looking to party you can take a public bus (very safe) to Playa del Carmen (it's like south beach Miami) only 40 min away. This hotel will have me as a loyal guest. Zenserenity provided me with the best customer service specially Sandra (meditating/jing zou instructor. Best service I've ever received in my life. I truly recommend it. (Best couple retreat)

Excellent location walking distance from the ruins, delicious food, gorgeous rooms, and very friendly and genuine staff service.
A lot of nice details from arrival to end... Cucumber and mint welcome drink was so refreshing, little appetizer from the chef before dinner, nice amenities in bathroom...

Room Tip: Jacuzzi rooms are huge!

I only gave this a very good because the hotel rooms are amazing....my husband and I stayed there for 3 nights out of the 7 nights that we were in Cancun. we were staying at the Golden Parnassus originally, we saw a video in the Parnassus hotel advertising this hotel and thought, what the heck, lets go try it out for a few days, so we knew there was no beach, but that was ok for a few days, the rooms were amazing, but there really is nothing to do at this resort, so bring a few books, because after dinner, they roll up the sidewalks, go to bed, there is 11 tv stations, 9 in spanish....the food was good, but not much of a selection..the bartender at the pool didn't show up in the Saturday we were there, so the inside bartender had to do double duty. the girls serving at the cabana's don't know the difference between a beer and a sprite, I know it just changed hands, but they still need a lot of work with the employees....loved Guadalupe at the Emporium gift store, thank God she spoke great english, and she was very helpful with everything, her husband is also a taxi driver, not for the hotel, but you can request him, just tell the hotel front desk that you wish to have him as your taxi driver, we had a blast in the car with him on our way back to Cancun...this hotel was very, very quiet. there were still a few gay people there, don't know if they just liked the hotel it self, or they booked it when it was the Adonis and didn't get the message that it was no longer just a gay resort, but everyone seemed to enjoy it anyway. it had a nice pool, and 3 outdoor jacuzzi's, and a lot of cabana's at your disposal. close to the Tulum ruins, and a beach near by if you wish to go to the beach. the waitstaff was very pleasant, and front desk was also nice. I just wish it had a little bit of entertainment in the evening. If you are into yoga, this is all it had, it has a gym, biut it was under construction while we were there. so we couldn't use it..it has a spa, but we did not use it. a pool room, but it was all guys, no woman..

Spent 10 days at this hotel in early March 2014. This hotel is in transition as it was recently taken over by the Parnassus chain of resorts in mid 2013. The transition is very positive, as we saw many changes happening while we were there. It is obvious that they are spending the needed cash to update many areas of this hotel. It is very clean and the grounds are well groomed. A new lounge, Spirit, opened while we were there and they were opening the new gym with all new equipment. Rumour has it that they are getting a top chef in to update and upgrade the dinner menu's. Bottom line is, people who are going there in spring '14 and after will notice a very nice, clean and good value hotel.
As for the service, we had excellent service while we were there. A big shout out to Eusebio at the resto, Marco at the bar, Gabino, Flor and Sintia and Isla. I know I forgot a lot of other people there but they were all great. Everyone understood English and communication was not a problem. An effort in speaking Spanish from us went a long way to get what we needed as well as a friendly smile from the staff.
The rooms were spacious and always very clean. A few things need attention like fans that work when they want but otherwise they are very comfortable.
The hotel only has about 96 rooms so this is not your glamorous resort which when you think about it, is great as the service is more one on one. Adults only and all inclusive and you can't go wrong. There is no beach as the hotel rests on the cliffs over the Caribbean. There are 2 beaches near by. Playa Paraiso is a 5 minute bike rise north of the resort and is fabulous. You can rent chairs and there is beach service which is very good. The beach is great. There is also a beach just a 5 minute walk south of the resort which is equally as nice.
We went into town at Don Cafeto's resto in the town of Tulum. Well worth it, great food with an authentic Mexican flair. Do some Tequila shooter's to start, they have an extensive menu for tequila. So much better than most of the resto's along the tourist strip. We tried to go to Hartwood one night. I cannot honestly review as it began to rain and the restaurant is outdoors so we left. We went to Posada Margherita's and it was excellent.
I hate to say this but the hostess at Hartwood is not the most friendly person you want to meet. Let's blame it on the rain this time!!!!
The Tulum ruins are very close by and makes for a nice excursion for a few hours. It is along the sea and provides for some great photo opp's. You can also head down to the beach there.
Overall, everything is a short taxi ride from this hotel, whether you are going into Tulum, up to the beach or down to the strip. 80 pesos max.
Had a great time and I guess the true test is whether we would ever go back. The answer is a resounding yes, as Zen Serenity is spending the money to improve their product. This will no doubt be a true 4 to 5 star hotel once they reach their goals.
Thanks for a great trip.

This is the best hotel to stay in Tulum. It is beautiful with lots of little paths surrounded by trees and flowers. The ocean view is spectacular. Is walking distance from Tulum Mayan ruins ( which you must visit ). The service is great, everybody was nice and helpful. The spa is beautiful with different amenities. The ambience of the place is full of peace and Zen. I have been in different hotels in playa del Carmen and other places in riviera Maya but this one is the best.

I recently stayed at the Zenserenity resort and all I can say is "Wow". I've been to Tulum many times prior and have always stayed in a beach bungalow. We opted to stay in a "larger" resort this time around with the thought of experiencing something different. We were hesitant at first because we knew the hotel would be at capacity but we couldn't have been happier by the end! You still feel the rustic, bohemian, Tulum charm while enjoying high quality amenities and stellar service. Our room was beautiful and huge! We were on the second floor and next to two of our friends. We didn't hear a sound as soon as we closed the doors, which was good because it was a rowdy bunch staying there. We were fortunate enough to have a room in the front villa with a gorgeous view. There isn't a beach so luckily the pool is beautiful and clean. The public beach is just a short walk from the hotel though and if you keep walking you will eventually hit the ruins, which are a must see for anyone that visits Tulum. Food with an all-inclusive plan is always hit or miss but we had absolutely no complains. We were introduced to the newly appointed chef one night and could tell he is genuinely passionate about serving good food to his guests. The hotel staff was very attentive and would be as helpful as they possibly could. There is obviously a language barrier but they were kind and patient. We never had to ask for anything twice and they always managed to figure out exactly what we needed. I got my hair blown out at the spa and had no complaints. My husband mentioned he enjoyed his massage and time in the steam room. All in all, it was wonderful weekend and I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms in villa 5 have the best view!

Absolutely beautiful....awesome views, great pool. Room was spacious and bathroom large. Pictures on the website do not do it justice. The 'swim up bar' was a favorite place and the bartender, Marco, was amazing...super friendly and great at making drinks (and shots!). The staff went out of their way to meet our needs and was always friendly. Only 20 rooms were open while we were there (3/1-3/8) and the main dining area (with a buffet) was never open....each night they rotated two of three menus (asian, italian and mexican) and each of the three menus did not change. Food was well prepared and tasted good, but would have liked more options during the week. Free WiFi was near/at the front desk in the lobby only. Spa was a bit overpriced, but again staff was super friendly. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: All room/areas seemed great. We were in building 5.
