My husband and I just returned from an 8 night stay at Blue Tulum. We have traveled a lot over the years and this was the best all around resort we have ever stayed at. What made it so special? The location, the huge rooms, the food, the staff, the bikes, the beauty, the view, the ocean, the service, the wine (and champagne), the ambiance, and the way the entire staff accommodated our every need. The beach was aquamarine and deep blue touching fine white sand . It was small enough to feel taken care of. All I can say is I WANT TO GO BACK!

Our group of friends stayed at Blue Tulum for a 5 day getaway.
We were greeted by a friendly, helpful staff and offered champagne while we were checking in.
Our rooms were clean and very nice. The restaurants were all very good and the staff was excellent. They made our meals enjoyable.
The view was fabulous....we went there to relax and that is exactly what we did.
The bars have a great selection of liquor.
I do not have one negative remark about our stay. We met some great people because it's not a huge resort and you get to know the guest.
We enjoyed the beach and the picnic lunch the hotel packed for us.
We are going to make this an annual trip.
I would highly recommend Blue Tulum.

If chilling is what you want, this place is just right for you. My wife and I are expecting are first child, so we wanted a low-key "babymoon." We bid/won this stay through an online auction due to Tulum's "tame" reviews. I would not pay the $500+ per night rate that the hotel offers, but I'd pay the same auction bid - we got a screaming deal. Realize Tulum is about 2 hours from the airport, and transportation is not as cheap as we expected. There were very few guests, which made the stay glorious. The rooms were nice, but the beds were a bit firm. The jacuzzi tub on the balcony is cool, but it takes a really long time to fill it up. The all-inclusive aspect was just what we needed - in general, the food was slightly above average, although the "fresh" fish was not fresh. If you want to be blown away by the culinary arts of your hotel, you probably will not achieve that goal here, but again, I thought it was pretty good. We received $75 spa credits per person with our auction; however, the spa services are on the expensive side. The credit only covered half of a 50-minute massage. The staff is super-nice - we actually tipped a few waiters and bartenders (not required/expected). Beach access is limited at the hotel - i.e., the hotel is on the water, but you can't swim in the ocean right at the hotel, which didn't phase us since we we're expecting to swim too much due to the season. The beds and beach chairs are in the sand, so you can still listen to the waves crash and see the changes in the beautiful blue water. No need to reserve the cool cabana beds - 1st come, 1st serve. The pool is not heated, so be prepared for a little initial cold shock if you travel off-season like we did (bring a couple of long-sleeve Ts!). They pay for a taxi to take you to their designated beach area about 5 minutes away, but we rode bikes (included in our package) to and from the beach and Mayan ruins. You can ride the bike all the way up to entrance of the Mayan ruins, despite what the local policia say - there are bike racks right next to the ticket counter (about $5 entry fee BTW). Oh yeah, it was a tad windy but not unbearable - not sure if that's the norm like some of the Greek Isles. The fitness center was pretty nice too - yoga, dumbells (50 lbs), cardio/weight machines, etc.

We just returned from Blue Tulum that we chose based on our desire of finding a spacious room with a clean mattress and towels and air conditioner- away from any echo-cabana experience. It was a last minute decision, so we didn't know what to expect. The place is a gem. Great food (try El Ocho's ceviches), gorgeous resort and pool and amazing personal service. We seriously can't say enough good things about the hotel. We would 100% return just to stay at Blue Tulum again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Blue Tulum a few weeks ago, and we wanted to write a quick blurb. We were quite apprehensive about our trip after reading several negative reviews about the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised from the moment we saw the beautiful entryway. We had a lovely room, the grounds were beautiful, and the Caribbean was, of course, amazing. The pool was nice, and a beautiful white sand beach with reserved chairs was a very short cab ride away. The buffet certainly can't compare to eating at a quality restaurant, but was surprisingly good for an all-inclusive buffet. The staff was attentive and accomodating. There were a number of families staying at the same time we were there, and the facility seemed very family-friendly, but still managed to maintain a romantic atmosphere.

We ultimately felt that the hotel wasn't really our style, as it was a bit too luxurious, and felt a bit too isolated/protected from the locals, but this is more a matter of travel style than an indictment of the hotel. I also ended up feeling a bit guilty when interacting from anyone staying pretty much anywhere else in Tulum, as this is definitely not an eco-resort.

So if you are looking for a luxurious all-inclusive hotel in a beautiful location far away from the craziness of Cancun, I would not hesitate to recommend Blue Tulum. If you are looking for an authentic taste of Mexico, or if you are a very environmentally-minded traveller, this might not be the best place for you.
