Kore Tulum is a beautiful resort that will offer you great views from their beach lookout area and is nuzzled right between the Tulum beach and Ruins to the right, Tulum city centre to the north, and the Tulum beach strip (i.e. papaya playa; ziggy's) to the left. We managed to visit all of the above, including the Coba ruins and five cenotes in the span of 6 days only. You will receive extremely friendly and attentive service here - Leoncio; Marcos and Alfredo made our time at the restaurants very enjoyable. The staff are always ready to please and deserve a good tip as they never disappointed. The pool offers volleyball and fitness activities almost every day. You will feel extremely secure staying at the resort as the gate attendant makes sure to check in and out every visitor or guest going through. The pictures on online websites do not begin to do this place justice. I would highly recommend. The only downfalls is that the food is not exactly the most flavourful and there isn't resort-wide or in-room wifi for free.

I will always read reviews and believe them, all the reviews are correct... don’t stay at this hotel!

Where should I start? The food, the communication, the cleanliness, the resort?

If you are looking forward to a hotel full of Mexican food and culture, this hotel is not for you! This hotel lacks everything a mexico hotel should, in fact any hotel about a 4 star has.

From the time you check in, you start to notice in the front foyer the lounges and lamps are covered. If you look up to the roof you will see the holes in the roof! Teepee style.

Check in was just below average, unfortunately the receptionist speaks minimal English and didn’t explain how the hotel works and what it has to offer.. she spoke so soft at times I thought she wasn’t speaking.

The room looks clean but scratch below the surface and you realise it is not clean at all. The pillow covers smell like they haven’t dried properly. One set of sheets freshly made had a blood stain, the shower looked like it had poo stained to the tiles? The shower has minimal water flow and pressure so never felt relaxed and refreshed from the shower.

The food for dinner is horrid, tasteless and not even fresh! They barely have Mexican on the menu and if they do it is bland with no flavour. No fresh limes or spices etc. you can choose from Italian, Asian and chef special, all of which is below average! Perhaps the chefs are apprentices.

The Diet Coke, wine and beer is all watered down! This is clearly seen as the Diet Coke was light brown! Breakfast is bareable and same with lunch.

If you want to drink bearable alcohol this is not the hotel for you.

On the morning we left the receptionist cut our wrist band and said your free! I felt a sense of relief that I was leaving this hotel, not because it is was like being captive but because it has no Mexican feel, I want culture and tasty food and Mexican way of life! If I want to swim in an average small dirty pool or lay in the bed all day fair enough!

If you want to do nothing and go on a diet and not eat, then this is the hotel for you.

It rained everyday, I rang receptionist to ask for an umbrella advised they had ran out. Guests of the hotel walking around in heavy rain because there are no umbrella

A travel agent recommended this place, 3 emails sent once staying at the hotel to ask why she recommneded this and not to recommend to other travellers.

The only saving grace for this place, is the hard working meal staff and cleaning staff they should be commended!

I plan to email the hotel manager to outline my concerns.

The grounds of the resort are very lovely.

The hotel needs a full makeover and money spent to bring it up to par.

Please trust this review, I should have read TripAdvisor before going and not trusted the travel agent.

Poor hotel on every level

Hola Buffet8,
With astonishment and sadness I read your comments about your recent visit to the Hotel, I deeply appreciate that you have taken the time to share your experience. Unfortunately it is very difficult to please everyone, each person has different expectations and tastes, definitely each opinion is very respectable and worthy of analysis. I will pass your comments to the corresponding departments for follow-up. thanks for your comments.

Nice hotel stuck in late 90s/early 2000s deco and amenities. The hotel doesn’t have access to the beach, the food is bad, and it seems to be geared to couples and older people (over 40). The service was excellent, and the staff were very kind and accommodating. I recommend staying at a newer hotel on the same strip, for the same price.

I enjoyed the solitude and quietness. The food was OK, nothing special but not bad. The spa was good but a bit pricey especially when they charge less in town. Tulum is a great area and ZEN. I would go back.

Decided to choose this location for a solo getaway based on both reviews and value - was very impressed and satisfied. Let me try to break it down by category:

Resort Type: Couple Oriented, yet Friends/Solo friendly

Service: Fantastic - everywhere you went, you were treated very well by the staff. They are extremely attentive and willing to talk and go above and beyond to keep you happy. Loved this aspect of this resort

Value: Great considering the balance of the all inclusive aspect, but also the property is gorgeous. Only drawback is the beach front is very small, don't expect much here. However, local beaches are easily within biking distance

Restaurants/Bars: Try Mateo's, Clan Dystino, and Ice Cream Bar! Otherwise downtown area works as well!

Hola Ray A,
Thank you very much for sharing your review, it will surely serve our future guests. As you mention, our access to the beach is limited by the rocky area, but we have an agreement with a private beach club called Paraiso, where you can enjoy the sea just a few minutes from us, we have scheduled transportation every day, or You can arrive by bicycle. We hope to have you back.
