This was our first trip to Mexico with our toddler. My husband and I spent alot of time choosing a resort as we both dive and we wanted to be near the cenotes/sea.
On arrival we were NOT offered any welcome drink or refreshing towels, after a 5 hour drive to the airport, 3 hours waiting at the airport, 11 hour flight then a further couple of hours to Tulum this would have been a nice touch and a standard at a 5* hotel I would have thought.
We were soon checked in an offered an upgrade for $50 per night, we declined. We turned away from the desk and boom there was the timeshare guy, on reading previous reviews we politely told him we had no interest and we were not bothered again for the rest of the holiday.
We were soon within our room with was a standard garden view, room 4207. It had a slight musty smell on entering but I think this was the A/C as we turned that off straight away for the rest of the trip and the smell went. The room was lovely and well laid out but I was very dissapointed there was no bed provided for our toddler, we had paid nearly as much for her as we did for ourselves and sharing a bed, albeit a rather large one for 2 weeks was not the best arrangement.
The room was cleaned daily between 4 and 5 pm, rather late I felt as most of the time when the cleaner called our daughter was trying to nap, maybe this was done on purpose? When the room was cleaned it was alway done lovely. We only recieved turndown service 2 time in the 14 nights we were there, again this should have been done every night as standard.
Food in the ala cartes was lovely, our favourite was the Hitsumi with the French a close second. I personally found the buffet food selection dire and service for water/coffee very slow so after a few days we had room service for breakfast, something our 3 year old adored.
A couple of times there was a gala event on the beach either a barbque or mexican night in the plaza, we went once but the selection again was limited for our daughter and the light was so poor ( I like to see that my food is cooked correctly before consuming) we walked away and dined in the ala cartes.
The big bonus at the resort for us was the Coco Cafe, how lovely to have a place to get freshly made coffees and cakes. We just wished it opened a bit earlier, there were a few people wondering around early with no place to get coffees from.
The smoothies bar was also a lovely addition.
The beach and pool were also kept spotless but we found drinks service around here very slow.
Our daughter adored the Paint a Pot hut on the beach and made several lovely items for a resonable price.

The entertainment team were lovely and very friendly, not really my taste but my husband enjoyed the stretching class and pool games. A special mention to Juavez(Chuck), who made a real fuss of our daughter.
The Explorers club and the girls were AMAZING. Probably as a parent the best thing about the resort. We had no intention of our daughter using it but after she had met the girls there was no stopping her and she asked to go and went for a couple hours every day. Coral came out with lovely braclets and hats and drawings she had done, special mention to Ana and Bernice and Marianna whom were most enthusiastic and fun to be around.
My husband and I planned to both dive on the trip and I spent some time on the internet before travel locating a GOOD dive company, We are both instructors. On arrival we went to browse the hotel dive shop as I could find very little info on them before we travelled. On the surface they seemed very nice but when there found out we had a three year old with us their attitude changed and we were told to "ditch the kid" not really what I would have expected to hear. Instead we dove as planned with La Calypso in Tulum. We caught the local collectivo but there for 30 pesos and had the most amazing dives and attention with them. They even sourced and helped with a nanny for childcare for our daughter. I'm guessing the great personal service La Calypso give and that they are a fraction of the cost of resorts dive shop is the reason why they are the number 1 in Tulum. So divers, if you want to dive with a professional dive shop choose La Calypso.
The hotel grounds are kept spotless and the gardners do an amazing job. I personally thought the resort was quite small compared to other AI I have visited in Cuba, DR, Antigua and the Med, Europe.
We used the hotel gym which I have to say was rather large for a resort this size, althought it was a bit on the warm side and the A/C could be improved in there.
We will probably return to the Dreams chain again as we all had an amazing 2 weeks.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms were lovely and quiet, manicured grounds were lovely.

The resort was very nice. The beach was one of the most beautiful beaches we have been to along the Riviera Maya (this was our 16th time there) The specialty restaurants were outstanding and the food at the buffets were good, breakfast could have had a little more variety, but all in all ,the food was good. The rooms were very quiet (we were in the back side of the resort near the spa) and the grounds were manicured and lovely. We took the collectiva (public transportation) to Akumal Bay to swim with the turtles. Don't take a taxi- they wanted $30 US money each way. We paid $3. This is a great place to visit if you have already seen the ruins and xcaret. I would recommend this resort and we would definitely return.

I'll start off with I've been to Mexico 6 years in a row now staying at a different resort each time. This was the most expensive out of the six and our least favorite. We always travel with 5 people, getting 2 rooms.

As far as the pool, amazing. We also had a swim out room, which we had to upgrade. They told us $100 per night per room and we talked them down to $60 a night per room. My parents shower didn't drain so they had water all over the floor. Paint needed to be touched up, air didn't get that cool. We also found a cockroach in our room the first morning there.

The beach was only super sandy in one area. Otherwise it was all seaweed. And once the resort ended it became all rocks.

As far as the food, we were really disappointed. The buffet was closed 2 nights while we were there which is hard if you have picky eaters. The buffet was also limited and small. We have been to places where the buffet was never ending. Also the room where the buffet was, lacked air conditioning. Having lunch in there wasn't enjoyable since it was 85 degrees out. The specialty places weren't the greatest we have been to either.

The resort overall was older. They tried updating it but you could tell. We have been to RIU, Barcelo, Princess resorts, etc. for much cheaper and they were a lot nicer and newer.

Excellent hotel. Great options for eating, all excellent. Service superb. Great team of people who were all very friendly and helpful. Daniel by the pool, Eduardo and Galamiel at sugar reef bar and Chuck from the Entertainment team all particularly memorable and helped our holiday to be excellent. Would certainly recommend.

This has been our third trip to Dreams in three years. We come back because we love the resort. Its very clean, very well kept and the food is amazing with no line ups. We have always been treated very well. We want to say a special Thank you to the Entertainment Manger and his Crew...Fernanda, Sebastian, Penelope, Luis, Carlos, Miguel, Javier and Dio for making our stay extra special and including us in all the activities that the resort offers. We had soo much fun with all of you. Another special Thank you is to Sylvia and Carlos our waitress and waiter by the pool.

Our room was incredible. We had a swim out pool that was across from a beautiful patio with an afternoon bar where Jorge and Meteo helped us with our Spanish lessons. They were we so incredibly willing to help us learn.

Thank you Dreams Tulum for another fantastic holiday. We will be back.

We've just returned from another amazing trip to Dreams Tulum and if you are looking for a beautiful Mayan Riviera, All-Inclusive look no further! This was our second stay at Dreams Tulum and for 10 days we soaked in all that this beautiful beach resort had to offer. The beach is stunning with white sand and a shallow walk out into warm turquoise water. Palapa's and lounge chairs are plentiful and the beach drink service was timely and friendly. Shout outs to Neysi, Guadalupe, Rally, and Silvia - all amazing servers who were great with our kids and kept the drinks flowing (alcohol free and the adult kind!). Be sure to order local favourites like the Poloma, Cha-Cheech - I think that`s how its spelled! (Mayan for Ojo Rojo - Bloody Beer!), Paradise, Ice berg, the list goes on! The food for an all inclusive is very good. For those travelers who go to Ai`s and expect the highest 5 star, foodie lovers cuisine, they need to check their expectations. The best bet is to eat the cuisine that closest resembles what the locals would eat. Seafood, nicely grilled meats, chorizo, lime, salsa`s etc. Don`t get me wrong, this resort presents decent ``Italian,`` Asian-inspired,`` ``French,`` and typical ``American -fare,`` but its the Mexican dining represented at the World Cafe and El Patio restaurants that must be considered as top dining destinations. Get Alberto (Omelette station in the World Cafe) to prepare a few over easy eggs and put them on the delicious chilaquiles, ask for the Haberno Salsa to spice it up!! Room Service breakfast is always a good choice too and we had the privilege to stay in the new Swim up suites - these are beautiful and offer an nice oasis from the hot afternoons, and allowed for our children a great place to get out of the sun and still get lots of swimming in. Added bonus - these swim up suites have their own bar and bartender service in the central garden!! Another recommendation would be to take a trip to Coba and the nearby Cenotes - a definite must for a day trip. We even went into Tulum after and ate El Camello - a must if you are going into Tulum. The BEST ceviche I`ve ever had!! More thanks to Roland and Javier and the rest of the friendly staff at Dreams Tulum!
