Friendly staff, very good restaurants. Buffet was just so-so, but unlike other all-inclusives, Dreams does not limit how many times you can visit their restaurants, forcing you to the buffet. So you are better off going to the restaurants!
The Wine Cellar was a wonderful experience - if you are a spontaneous person, tell them you like to be "surprised" and they will bring you some of the best dishes from various restaurants at the resort. We didn't even look at the menu (except the wine list, we did order a bottle which was an extra cost, but very good) everything was delicious. They have some VERY expensive wine on the list, but a few reasonable bottles (under $50) sprinkled in as well. I think if we had asked for "house wine" (which is included/no fee) they probably would have given it to us.
The pool scene was fun and entertaining, but if I was there on a honeymoon or something, I don't know how I would have felt about it! I was there with family though so it was a good time. The entertainment team was hilarious and tried to get everyone up and moving throughout the day with various activities. They definitely kept things fun and were a big presence at the pool during the day and for the evening shows and such at night, too.
Make sure to visit the bar inside the main lobby - it's indoors so many skip it, but the bartender makes great drinks!
Location was good for us, as we had to be near Tulum for a wedding. But it would have been nice to be closer to Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Very quiet and safe feeling though. The staff at the gate you could tell was run like a well-oiled machine, and you can tell they keep very close track of everyone coming in and out of the resort.
Wish there were hammocks on the beach! And only some of the rooms had a hammock on the balcony - would have been awesome if we had one.
Only other negative - and who actually works out on vacation, I know... but - the gym was barely (if at all) air conditioned. It was so hot I could barely get through one single workout! So unless they change things up... leave your workout gear at home!
Great place though overall -- and would definitely recommend to friends. We had a great time!
