“Brilliant all inclusive”

We had an amazing time here. The resort is beautiful, the food is fantastic and the service is friendly- nothing is too much trouble. And it is a true "all inclusive"- everything is actually included- even 24hr room service! So will definitely visit again- if not this resorts then another one in the Dreams group.

We got married here and could not have asked for a more amazing experience. Property is beautiful, staff is wonderful, and meal quality/options were top notch. Planning a destination wedding, sight unseen, can be tricky, but they made it unforgettable. We will be going back for our anniversary and many more!
Check-in was probably the only challenging piece due to room requests not being met, but they did what they could to accomodate us and the more seasoned staff seemed to manage this better.

Room Tip: If you want quiet.... rooms away from the beach allow for a more quiet, garden, tranquil experience.

Dreams Tulum turned out to be a very nice resort only draw back is the distance from the airport. After traveling by plane several hours then to have to ride almost two hours to the resort is more than I like. The resort is very large, rooms are nice very clean and there are several restaurants the food was very good. Wonderful coffee and drinks! The entertainment was pretty good at times excellent. Over all we had a great time and wasn't ready to leave.

My husband and I stayed at Dreams as the second last stop on our 4 week honeymoon.

We were happy with our overall stay at Dreams and would definitely come back to Mexico.

The staff, waiters, entertainment crew & reception staff were all extremely lovely. They are hard working, hospitable, lovely people that always try to do the best possible job for their guests.

Most of the restaurants on site were wonderful. The French, Italian and grill and Japanese were impressive - especially the steaks. The buffet in the morning and at lunch were also constantly full of food and despite it being buffet style the waiters were wonderful. The Mexican was a let down however, which was disappointing because you're in Mexico! The Asian was also nothing too special. We met a few lovely waiters at the restaurants that we became close with who looked after us over and above!

The pools and facilities were great. Right by the Caribbean ocean. Aqua blue beach and lots of chairs to sit by the beach. The beautiful ocean breeze could be felt no matter what pool you were at. Drinks and food service by the pool was always convenient and staff lovely. Swim up pool was nice although wait time was always long. Shade by the pools is limited and none over the water. Very hard to get an umbrella and if you don't get a chair in the morning it's hard to get one - especially if there's a wedding as there's always an influx of guests by the pool (at least 1 wedding a day!). On some days - they would even set up tables for the wedding by the pool from 4pm - cutting down the main area of the pool.

Entertainment crew was fantastic. Very enthusiastic and friendly. Got us involved in lots of things. Lots
Of things to choose from - water polo, beach volleyball, dancing, spanish lessons. Only disappointment was that yoga on the beach in the morning was cancelled all trip (was really looking forward to it!).

Grounds were full of beautiful palms and tropical trees that light up at night. Really impressive!

Room was the major disappointment was us. Air con was ancient and very loud! A few niggly things that weren't right with the room when we arrived that took a few calls to concierge to fix including a dirty marked and dusty floor. House keeping would come and not replace towels. All rooms are also tiled (due to humidity) so noise above us was unbearable. They were also doing maintenance upstairs so every morning at 7:30 we were woken up with furniture being dragged. Drove us mad!!! Bed was also squeaky!! Also very annoying!

Great resort for families and we met lots of other couples and made some good friends. Great place to meet people.

Ended up with an upset tummy for a few of the days :( not sure what from.

And sunscreen was ridiculously expensive - $30 for one small bottle. Crazy!

All in all though, it was a fun, relaxing, lovely place to be! We will definitely go back but would love to check out other resorts in the area.

I recommend this hotel for any type of vacations (family, etc...).

All the staff is friendly and careful with the guests needs, the rooms are nice but for a premium suite we were expecting something bigger with a separate space for the kids.

About the Beach, Pool and the other facilities I classify them as great. The 7 restaurants provide you a variety of good options to eat. And the All-Included is a reality!....

The only detail for this resort is that you need to enjoy "walking" because it's organized among gardens and wide areas. But if you enjoy to have space to move around and fell more free than in a usual Hotel/Resort this is the right option for you.

A detail is that if you travel with an agency the trip until the Hotel can last up to three hours, depending of the drop offs before you, because this hotel is located "in" Tulum.

In conclusion even with the details listed above we've enjoyed this resort very much!....

Before travelling to Dreams Tulum I was concerned about some of the reviews I had read re bed bugs, upset stomachs etc and did contact the resort in advance who gave me some reassurance. We didn't experience either and didn't hear of anyone else who did. We had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend it. The resort is not too big and easy to get around. The beach is really nice, lots of loungers, blue Caribbean sea, pelicans diving for fish and you can feed the fish out of your hands (they like bananas!). Plenty of shade under palm trees on the beach, a lovely place to sit and a nice breeze which you don't get round the pool.
The hotel has beautiful grounds with lots of tropical plants and palm trees, fountains, outside games and wildlife. At night they light it up and it really does have wow factor.
2 swimming pools, one lively but for a couple of days during a holiday perhaps a bit too lively with crowds of wedding guests all day drinking in the pool so many families with children moved up to the quieter pool. Never had problem getting sun beds never saw anyone reserving beds and not using them or reserving beds early in the morning - there is no need.
Swim up bar in the lively pool, frequent drinks service on beach and pool and poolside snack bar. Water polo and beach volleyball if you want to join in.
Kids club -very good our children really enjoyed it. Wide range of activities, you can sign them in and sign them out as you want, they can have lunch and dinner with club if they want and then after dinner they have a little disco and then watch a movie at the clubhouse. They had a camp out on the beach, did bungee trampolining, there was zorbing at the pool one day (not with kids club) etc. Kids clubhouse very good - outdoor play equipment, climbing wall, splash pad, lots of crafts etc
We found the food to be good for mass catering. we liked having a range of restaurants and not having to book or be limited how many times we ate in which. Only once could we not get a table at our preferred restaurant. We liked seaside grill and Italian restaurant for dinner. Didn't rate the Asian. Children liked the world café. We really liked Cocos coffee shop, great to have really nice coffee on holiday plus cookies, baileys etc. Often had a cookie and coffee from here after dinner instead of desserts, which weren't very good anywhere in resorts. Steaks are excellent everywhere. We had breakfast at cocos a couple times too. World café also they have hot plate where they will fresh cook steaks, chicken, calamari etc.
Drinks were excellent, smoothie bar was great, lovely fresh mocktails and soft drinks during the day. Cocktails were good and even the wine.
They have a couple of shops and they are very good and have everything you may need on holiday. They also have a night market with a few stalls some evenings.
Entertainment was home grown and low key but done with enthusiasm. A couple times per week they turn the main square into a festival plaza with lots of decorations etc, they do go to a lot of effort.
Virgin rep was hopeless - didn't get back to us at all about trips or reply to our texts and messages. The AMTours desk in reception is great you can book trips through them. Recommend Akumel beach (just get a taxi there and then do snorkelling, don't need to book a trip) - saw lots of turtles, rays, reef fish. xel -ha is fantastic -expensive though but well worth a day there.
our room had 2 x double beds, a seating area and balcony and was plenty spacious. Get a garden view room unless you want beachfront noise at night or plan to be out partying/attending a wedding.
The only niggles we had in this hotel were housekeeping/turndown were erratic, a few things wrong with room on arrival although most were fixed the next day, no welcome or drink on arrival and no-one showed us to our room just pointed us in vague direction wasn't the best arrival in resort but as soon as we passed reception and saw the beautiful gardens all lit up it didn't matter. Air con in room was noisy and not as effective as it could have been. These were mostly small niggles that didn't affect our holiday.
In summary - fab hotel, lovely location, plenty wildlife, good food, great for families and kids, very flexible all inclusive re restaurants, and lots to do in the area - we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend and would return.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking gardens as ocean front rooms are noisy

My husband and I chose this Resort for our 1st Anniversary. We are in our 50's and have traveled frequently for years. Our stay was May 21 - 28, 2014.

I will start with the positive. The food was very good and the entertainment team was friendly, hardworking and truly a lot of fun.

Now, the rest.

When booking our trip, we booked Preferred Status, Ocean Front Jr. Suite, and an Anniversary package.

The room we were assigned was a 3rd floor walk up - with not even a railing to hold on to. We got to the room and went out onto the balcony. Our view was of Palm Trees. Yes, we could see the ocean, but it was through the trees and hardly ocean front. I have a torn meniscus in my right knee, and since the view was terrible, we decided to ask for a room change.

Upon arrival we were to have a fruit platter and bottle of champagne in our room that came with anniversary package - we had a bottle of red wine and 2 apples. Also part of our anniversary package was breakfast in bed. This was never offered or provided.

I called the front desk 3 times - 2 times I was put on hold and then cut off, and the 3rd time the phone rang and no one picked up, so we walked back to the office. We were told that we could change rooms, the next day. We should have our luggage ready by 9:00 and that the bellman would pick it up. That was fine with us.

I'm truly glad I did not have to spend more than 1 night in our original room. I must have killed at least 50 ants in the bathroom and there was not one drop of hot water in the bathroom at all. We let the shower run for at least 15 minutes, hoping it would warm up, but it never did. Shame on Housekeeping. There is no way they could have cleaned effectively and not noticed both these things. We both took 2 cold showers; one before dinner on 5/21 and one in the morning on 5/22.

Our luggage was picked up at 9:00. We checked a couple of times throughout the day at the front desk regarding when our new room would be ready - which we were not assigned until after 3:00 PM. This was totally ridiculous, as we were already checked into the hotel and just waiting for our new room to be cleaned. This ruined and wasted our whole first day of vacation as we had no room and no clothes. When we were able to get into our room - no luggage was there. I was told to wait 15 minutes and they would bring it down. In my opinion, Front Desk and Concierge Staff really need better customer service training. They should take lessons from the Dominicans, they have it exactly right.

Our new room was nicer. The view was better - again, not what I consider ocean front. The pool and Palm Trees were in front of our room and the ocean was on the other side of the pool and trees.

The room should have been termed a standard room with an ocean view. We were told that our room was the same as all other standard rooms. Our upgrade to preferred status was also supposed to have an upgraded mini-bar. We had beer and soda. Not really sure what out of those 2 items was the upgrade.

The resort had 1 Preferred Status Customer Lounge, with a couch and a TV. There was upgraded liquor, with no mixers, so you had to get a glass from the bartender outside, take into the lounge, pour your booze, and then take it back out to the bartender to mix it with something. We paid for the ability to drink better liquor, but it was such an inconvenience, we drank speed rack liquor. There was 1 Preferred Lounge Concierge assigned to the Preferred Lounge, which the 2 times we were in the lounge, neither one spoke English.

The brochure indicates that each restaurant is closed 1 day per week. The Seaside Grill, one of our favorites, was closed 3 times for dinner and 3 times for breakfast during our one-week stay. There as no posting or announcement anywhere that the restaurant would be closed. We specifically wanted to eat there on our Anniversary (5/25) - but it was closed with no announcement. We also went to eat there on our last night at the Resort (5/27), again, closed with no notification or posting on the bulletin board. One other night it was closed for a wedding reception. No posting or announcement - we got there and were told it was closed for a private wedding party.

There was very limited seating at the activities pool and the pool itself is extremely small. If you did not get down to put a towel on a chair by 7:00 am - you were out of luck.

Even with the limited seating at the pool, one afternoon, Resort guests were made to move so that the crew could set up for a wedding reception. A whole section of an already small swimming area was closed for an entire afternoon. The wedding reception took place and the next day there was broken glass in several locations in that area. A guest cut his foot. This incident was documented with the Resort and a customer service rep came down to speak with the gentleman. It wasn't until then that the cleaning folks came to sweep up the broken glass, which there was quite a bit of. It's bad enough that it happened to an adult - there were small children and infants walking through that area.

Housekeeping was mediocre at best. One day they would come at 9:00 am then the next they didn't come until 3:30. And, the day they came at 3:30, turn down service came 2 hours later at 5:30. Two days housekeeping did not come at all. I had to call and ask for towels and coffee. The brochure also advertised turn down service and bathroom cleaning each night. We received turn-down service 2 times during our entire stay. Our room was at the end of the Hall, so if Housekeeping ran out of something on their cart, we just didn't get it. I had to call for coffee 3 times and twice for towels.

We paid quite a bit of money to stay at this Resort, which I would rate no higher than a 3.

We apologize if the amenities delivered to your room were not the ones you expected, we certainly have romantic breakfast for our anniversary guests, we advertise in our web page that is reserved with our Concierge, we are sorry if you travel agent did not informed about it.

It is ufortunate to read that you were not informed that moving to a different room and check in time is at 3:00 p.m. as you may understand in full occupacy we have to wait until the guest check out in order to prepare the room for the next guest, we apologize for the issues found int the room assigned.

I already forwarded you review to our Chief Concierge, we are surprised you mention that our Concierge at the Preferred Club did not speak English, since many other guests have mentioned the excellent service provided at the Preferred Club by the personalized Concierge,

We are also forwarding your review to our Food & Beverege manager in order to improve the areas mentioned with the mixers at the Preferred Club and the information on the restaurant schedule.

Our Room Division Manager is in aware of the comment about the issue at the pool and he will take actions to avoid the recurrence of the situation at the pool area, and the maid service.

Again we apologize for any bad experience and we truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and show the high level of service that we are known for.
