“Dreams Tulum, we will be back!”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

We attended our friends wedding and fell in love with resort and staff!! Stayed for 2 weeks through our timeshare trade and loved every minute.

Staff at this resort were happy, friendly, spoke English and were engaging with customers. It was evident that the resort has very good management. Our favourite bartender was at the Sugar Reef bar and his name was Gamaliel. Our favourite concierge was Tania.

This resort did not require wrist bands or a card for towels which was really nice. There were many a'la carte restaurants with excellent food and service and the best part was that you did not require reservations and could eat where you wanted when you wanted. The World Cafe was the main buffet and the quality and flavour of the food was just as excellent as the other restaurants.

There was a lot of coral in that area but there were some really nice coral-free areas where you could enjoy the ocean. The pools were beautiful and I enjoyed the daily water aerobics which were fun and effective in burning off a little of the extra calories!

There were plenty of lounges poolside and on the beach . These areas were kept very clean.

Many weddings occurred during our 2 weeks and we were convinced that they had great wedding staff and that no two weddings or receptions were the same so they offer many options to make your event unique.

We had an ocean front junior suite with a jacuzzi tub and beautiful balcony. We absolutely loved our room.

Room Tip: Choose an oceanfront junior suite in building number 5 where it is quiet and has a gorgeous view.

Our entire family (parents, and four siblings with all of their family) get together for Christmas and New Years vacation every year, now for over 40 years running. We are originally from Mexico so we tend to gravitate toward Mexico's well known beaches, and we have been through multiple different accommodation scenarios including renting large houses (for 20+ people), condominiums, hotels, all inclusive resorts, etc.

The Dreams Tulum combines everything we need including a wonderful staff, a beautiful location, expansive grounds which allow everyone some independence, great food and a welcoming atmosphere. We love it!

We have returned for three years and plan to do so again this year.

We have no complaints about staying at this resort. I will tell you though that we are a family that rolls with the punches and doesn't let the little things bother us. Nothing is perfect. This place is close to it though! We traveled with family and were in three separate rooms. We had our one year old with us and they promptly brought us a nice crib for him to sleep in. The king bed was very comfortable and the room always looked fantastic after maid service. Sometimes they even rolled the towels into fun shapes, like a snail. The FOOD was great. Lots of options and all of it was free of course (well, included in your cost). The portions are smaller than American portions, but it is the perfect amount of food. Its what a real portion in America should look like! The dress codes could be a bit annoying for a super casual family like ours, but we sucked it up and put on our nice clothes for dinner. The World Cafe was great for little kids especially. A ton of options. The kids menu is all the same at the other restaurants but it has good variety. They always had high chairs available for the kids. Highchairs with trays! It was awesome. If you order room service they are very prompt and incredibly friendly. We always tipped room service and tipped at the nicer restaurants. WATER: you can drink the water that they pour for you at the restaurants because its purified. Do not drink the water in the room and get bottled water everywhere else. The STAFF is incredibly accommodating. Always saying hola and offering to help you. They are very concerned with your comfort at this resort. They are also incredibly clean from the rooms to the beach. They are always cleaning, raking the beach and sweeping. KIDS are a priority to the staff at this resort. On a particularly busy night at a restaurant, they brought the kid's their food before ours was ready so they could eat and not be fussy. It was so nice of them to go out of their way and we didn't even ask them to! They like to touch the babies, or at least they liked to touch mine. He loved the attention and wanted to be held by the staff. It was really cute. The POOLS were so nice and not very deep so the older kid with us could touch almost everywhere. There is a little 2 foot section that the younger kids loved. You can enjoy your drinks in the pool too. They were very clean and a lot of fun. They provide beach TOWELS for everyone but there are no LIFEJACKETS at the resort so bring your own if you want one for your child. They also sell pool FLOATIES but they cost a lot so I would consider bringing your own. I can't say enough about how fun this place is. The staff is amazing, its so clean and the entertainment options were plentiful. I definitely recommend staying at Dreams Tulum. I also recommend going to the Tulum Ruins but go early, before the crowds. We got there just after 8am and it was still hot, but at least there weren't tons of people. Busloads were showing up just as we were leaving.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Junior Suite with a garden view. It was perfect for us. There are no elevators except...

I can't even begin to thank Dreams Tulum for such a wonderful vacation. I am still raving about how this was one of the best vacations ever!

We have travelled to 13 resorts now in the AM Resort chain (including Dreams, Secrets and Now). This was our second visit to Dreams Tulum. We have never experienced a resort with as many friendly, cheerful, outgoing and over-the-top service staff members as we have here. You have scored all of the good staff I believe!

My husband walks with a cane so I first reached out to Severiano Oy because I found his name on Trip Advisor. He was quick to get back to me and help assist with a room that was close to the restaurants and beach area. With his assistance, as well as Noe May, Irlanda Prado, Eduardo Magaña Olan and Miriam Ramos (as they were all copied on the same email from Sev) we were able to receive the most perfect location for our room. We were in room 4112. We truly appreciated that everyone went above and beyond to accommodate us as my husband has a disability. It was easy for him to get around in that straight line!

I have to point out many many specific individuals as they truly went beyond the call of duty.

First of all, I have read hundreds of reviews that just rave about Syliva (beach waitress). I was at one of the bars one day and low and behold there she was so I made a point of telling her that I have read so much about her and I was glad to put a face to the name. From that point forward she made the HUGE effort to come and say hello every morning to us. Now she worked the beach by the Seaside Grill and we sat way on the other end of the quiet pool and we couldn’t believe that she would do that. She never once was our waitress but killed us with kindness whenever she saw us. She is truly an incredible employee and every resort needs a little Sylvia.

Second shout out goes to Angel, the Chef in the Mexican restaurant. We ate his Pablano Pepper soup every single day, it was that good. My husband was curious on how to make it so Angel offered to show him the next day as he made it. He allowed my husband to assist in making the soup which of course was the highlight of our day. Angel continued to shine as he offered a few times to make us a special dish. He truly made our days an incredible experience. Actually everyone at the Mexican restaurant did.

Special mention goes to Andres from the World Café at breakfast to the Mexican Restaurant at lunch. He always took the time to come over and speak English to us. It was likely he was trying to better himself. It was just great so we tried to talk to him when we had the chance throughout the day. He made friends with my husband and they came up with a secret handshake.
Third shout out goes to Zitlalli and Malena from the Entertainment Team. My husband volunteers at a retirement home and calls Bingo. Once the girls found this out and respected him so much for helping others, they went on their day off to buy him a Mexican Bingo game! I can’t tell you how touched we both were. Truly incredible staff members.

Special mention to other staff members who took care of us daily and made sure we enjoyed every second of our day.

Daniel - pool waiter
Neysi - beach/pool waitress
Guadalope - beach/pool waitress, Coco Café
Arianna - Coco Cafe
Deysi - Mexican restaurant
Les - Unlimited Representative
Santiago - Mexican restaurant
Rosa - World Café/Mexican restaurant
The Manager at the Asian Restaurant (I just can’t remember his name but I can see his face)

Dreams has definitely surpassed our expectations!!

My husband and myself have just returned from a glorious three week holiday in the dreams hotel tulum. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to ocean view room at a red used rate but declined as a colleague had told me that these rooms can be a little noisy. We had no regrets because we had a garden room over looking impeccably kept gardens due to the continuous hard work of the gardeners.. Lying on the hammock after a hard day in the sunshine was icing on the cake. This was our 6th time in Mexico, the first at this hotel and I can honestly say the service here was second to none. Without exception the staff here are the most friendly, helpful and efficient that we have met. They are either very good actors or truly enthusiastic about their work. They all introduced themselves and we felt that our holiday enjoyment was their prime aim. A special thank you to Demaris in the buffet restaurant although it is very difficult to praise anyone more than another. The bar and beach waiter service was excellent wherever we were the waiters were continually round all day non stop always with a smile. We had a couple of maintenance issues ie. the toilet blocked twice but the problem was reported and dealt with in under ten minutes. We tried every restaurant (the Asian being our favourite) and only once had to wait a very short time.. I hate having to pre-book so it was a pleasure to be able to decide on the night where we wanted to eat. Our only negative was the general night entertainment, we have had better. Having said this the duo at the sugar reef bar on a Saturday and Monday are not to be missed. Although as a couple we generally prefer adult only hotels we loved seeing the children enjoying themselves and decided a pool full of 8 year olds can be better than one of 18 year olds.

Room Tip: If you don't mind noise from the activity pool the ocean view is beautiful if you prefer somethi...

We spent 10 days at Dreams Tulum for our honeymoon. Our room was a premium junior ocean view suite (6310) which was spacious and comfortable and overlooked the ocean as well as the pool and the Seaside Grill. We could also see the numerous weddings that took place too. We had no problems with the noise, in fact it was great to watch people in the pool having fun. We mainly ate breakfast at the Seaside Grill and enjoyed the food. Of the specialist restaurants we tried the Italian, Mexican, French and Asian - all were really good. The evening menu at the Seaside Grill was really good too although the portions tended to be a bit on the big side for me. We also had a romantic dinner on the beach on our last night which was fabulous. My OH used the gym most days which he said was OK but the aircon could have been better. I had a massage at the spa (Ana was great) and paid only half the stated price as I think they were quite quiet. The majority of the staff couldn't do enough for you. Something we thought that would be an improvement would be for coffee to be more widely available but that's a minor thing. We went with Kuoni and booked 3 trips with them - Tulum and Xel-
Ha, Chichin Itza and swimming with turtles at Akumal. All were good but the turtles trip which also included swimming in 2 cenotes was what we will remember the most. Kuoni converted USD into pesos at a rate of 13 to the dollar which was very disappointing as even the airport only used a rate of 11.5.
