“Very nice, cozy and clean accomodation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2013

We stayed there for few nights and we were accomodated on the second floor in a very nice room just across the street. Room was very clean and quiet with a terrace and an hammock. The location of the property is amazing, with good restaurants just few steps away, a nice sandy beach and close to the Tulum ruins. The breakfast included in the cost of the room was very good with fresh fruits, coffee, bread and jam.
There are very few little remarks we can point out about this accomodation. One is the view of over the terrace of our room: it was not the best. Choosing a room with the ocean view would have probably be better. Inside our room there were no electric outlet. This could be a deal if you bring with you small appliances. However, we have always been able to plug our camera and cell phone at the reception at the small shop of the hotel which is open till late evening.
All in all, a very good, relaxing stay!

We were lucky to have a room on the beach side as I would not be happy if it had been on the road.
We had a terrace with a hammock (although it was the cheapest type and not very comfortable).
I enjoyed our stay there, however, being 'eco' and 'boutique' does have its down sides.
There is an attractive shelving unit to put your clothes on, (no wardrobe), if you want anything hung up, I drapped my clothes over the low wooden beams. The security is poor, one of the windows had no lock on it, there is no safe. However, we felt safe there. The smell coming up from the unfixed shower drain coming straight up from the septic tank was disgusting, so I covered it with a cloth to try to smother it a bit. The room is open plan, so you have to send your partner onto the terrace is you want to use the toilet if your are concerned about this! We also drapped a towel over a beam in the shower as the window from the hall meant you could be exposed, if it bothers you, I didnt want to shock anyone!
There is only one power point and low level lighting as it is run on solar energy.
Although we enjoyed our stay it is heavily overpriced, especially as the bed had a plastic mattress cover on it, which made it even hotter at night and the sheets were old and threadbare.
None of our other 5 hotel stays had plastic mattress covers on the beds.
The staff were the least friendly out of our stay in Mexico, although as said before, Kate was lovely. Even though there are lots of negatives, this didnt spoil our stay as these didnt have a big impact on us,as we were coming towards the end of a great 2 weeks in Mexico and had come back to Tulum as we loved it there, although it may bother others and perhaps the hotel could try to rectify these issues.
It is a great location and a beautiful looking hotel, and alternative to wood and straw cabanas.

Room Tip: Any on the beach side although probably not on ground level.

we stayed in Sol and it had a was gorgeous! We had a deck and a hammock to enjoy some time out of the sun. I don't know what it is with people who complain here about the beach and the service here. The beach is awesome and we loved playing in the waves. The rock just outside the hotel is home to a bunch of iguanas and we love them! There are insects in Tulum!!?? really? the things people complain about-I got bit by mosquitos-I am sure it is the hotel's fault! just kidding.Kate, the manager is amazing. The other staff was great, breakfast delish!

We just spent the whole week at this place and we absolutely loved it. Great and very helpful management, excellent service, affordable (cabana is $65/night), Wifi, breakfast included and just right next the beach. Highly recommend this place. If I will go there again, i will definitely stay there.

It is our second stay in this hotel for the last 2 years. The experience was good the first year not the second. Do not expect any service, the person, Kate, is in charge of the boutique as well as the hotel so i don t thing it could work. This person was very nice. The price is not cheap for what you have at the end of the day. We experienced several time a shortage of warm water had to resquest several time towels..
There is almost no beach, it is just 100sqf of sand behind a rock, which is to small to accommodate all the guests, you have to install sunbed matresses by your own. Nevetheless they do not forget to resquest several time the payment prettymuch upfront. If you use paypal you will have to add 4% on top of the amount.
The decoration is very nice but without any improvement. The owner seems to be only cash oriented not service oriented. So i would recommend to avoid this hotel, there many others for the same price even cheaper with great service.

I recently spent 4 nights in the Suite. The Suite is 2 levels with a bed on each level and an open bathroom on the first level. Both beds are comfortable with clean, high quality linens. The decor throughout the hotel and rooms is just beautiful. Breakfast was simple, either scrambled eggs or yogurt and granola. Great way to start the day. They may have things to order off the menu but I was happy with the included selections. If you want something more hearty, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find within walking distance or a short, cheap cab ride to the pueblo.

The location is absolutely dreamy. I've heard the rooms on the road are less desirable due to noise but we stayed in a beach front room so I can't attest to the other rooms. The beach front rooms have incredible views and when we walked out of our room, our toes were in the sand. There are enough lounge chairs that there was never an issue. The beach is stunning! The color of the water is surreal, especially if you are coming from Boston in February, is warm and nice to swim in. Some days the waves were big, other times it was calmer but the water was always warm.

The suite was nice but didn't have any private outdoor space. I was hoping there would be a hammock but there was not. Some of the other rooms had hammocks on their balcony but not the suite. There was plenty of lovely places to sit in the common areas, decks, and beach so it wasn't a problem.

Some have complained about the low lighting, lack of electricity, and salty water in the shower but remember this, like all the places on the beach are eco-resorts and electricity is solar and wind generated. The water is salty but that is the price to pay to stay on the beach in Tulum. Yes, it's humid. It's the jungle after all and the winds are constantly blowing inland from the sea bringing moist air. There are mosquitoes at dusk, but again, it's the jungle. If you need modern luxuries like air conditioning, screens, fresh water, and the ability to use lots of electrical equipment, you won't be happy.

I loved sleeping under the mosquito nets with the windows wide open to catch that ocean breeze.

The only negative was the internet being wonky. More often than not, it didn't work and even when it does work, it must be used in or very near the dining room. Not a big deal because there are loads of comfy places to sit within the signal. But again, the place is in the jungle and if you are here, you really should plan on shutting out the outside world and enjoy the stunning beauty and calm, relaxed atmosphere that is Tulum.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms are lovely and quiet. The Suite doesn't have a private deck nor a hammock but...

We have just arrived from a 8days stay at Posada del Sol. My second trip to Tulum since sept. 2012. We had a room with roof terrace - Luna - with the ocean view. Lying in the king size bed we could see the sunset over the Caribean sea - incredible feeling. The stuff is so nice and kind, especially Kate - always asking if we needed anything - she was wonderful. The breakfast was OK, fruit/scramble egg, toasts, some yogurt and müsli, (I would prefer some more yogurth) juice and coffe. We loved sitting outdoor, having our breakfast and looking at the ocean. The location of the hotel is perfect, many good places to eat around, small shops, even minimarket. Posada del Sol has also a nice boutiqe with lovely things to buy. There is a place to rent bikes round the corner, we did it almost every day as Tulum is perfekt for bike - but only during the day - in evenings use pocket lamps because it is very dark on the main street. On the whole we warmly recommend Posada del Sol and we shall come back for sure. Thank you Kate and co. !!!

Room Tip: Our room was called LUNA, wonderful room with top terrace, a bed, hammock, chairs and table, and wha...
