Waking up to the sounds of jungle birds is so relaxing.
We stayed in a clean and well-kept 1 bedroom apartment looking out onto the pool. With a very comfortable king size bed, open living area and kitchen, the apartment has all the basic needs, including free WIFI.
Sometimes we used the air conditioning, but mainly we just used the ceiling fans. Taking a morning swim in the pool was a great start of the day for us before we headed off to the many beautiful places to visit. Even if you are on a low budget, there are many nice places to visit in the area. The white beaches are all open to the public and you can easily get there by car, or rent a bicycle. There is free parking at the condo complex.
Tulum is a relaxing town with a variety of great restaurants with very reasonable prices.
Mayan jungle work tour:
Heather took us deep into the jungle where we cleared some spaces with machetes and planted pineapple plants. It’s a great experience, first driving through small Mayan villages before arriving in the jungle. The serenity of the jungle sounds brings peace to your mind.
After the pineapple planting we went swimming in a beautiful cenote where, with the exception of a few Mayans from the village, we were all by ourselves. By then our bellies were ready for a wonderful Mayan meal in colonial Valladolid.
On the way back we stopped to enjoy the bright moon, milky way, and millions of stars in a perfectly clear sky. They seemed so close, we felt like we could reach up and touch them. We were one with the universe!
Heather was a wonderful and helpful hostess. She will definitely see us again.
