“A nice little gem between woods and vineyards”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

Au Chasseur is a little hotel we randomly chose as a stopover place, but it was a nice surprise. The rooms are more than ok, bathrooms renovated to a high standard, which is rare in France. The only little setback were banging doors due to automatic systems. The isolation to the outside is perfect (which is nice, due to the sympathic but present church bell)
But then came the evening meal ( we were ignorant as to its status..) This is one of the tastiest well made meal i had in the recent time. Perfect. Not on the cheap but worthwhile (like they say: vaut le détour) Breakfast suberb.
I come back.

Room Tip: Second floor is ok, elevator present

If you are in search of quietness and a peaceful environment close to Strasbourg, this is the place to stay at ! The rooms are clean, the scenery in the neighbourhood is breathtaking. You can enjoy the indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc ... The only thing you can hear outside is the bell of the little church every hour, some dogs barking far-off, and for the rest ... a quietness as you've never lived before. The best comes in the evening for supper. Food as refined, fresh and tasteful as for a 3 star Michelin restaurant. I'm from Belgium and the 500 km of driving is absolutely worth it.

Need somewhere to stop overnight on a road trip from UK down through France to our skiing destination in Austria

Picked this hotel based purely on location

What a find!

I have rarely stayed in a cleaner hotel

Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable

Pool, jacuzzi etc. were great, kids loved them.

Restaurant was top notch - not cheap, but great quality

Highly recommend

The only pity was we didn't have time to explore what looks like a stunning region

3 delicious courses for 29 euros-now that is value

Also moderate wine prices and a nice selection of 1/2 bottles

We did a Riesling tasting with our meal.

We also stayed in one of the value priced Relais du silence rooms

Out of the way-.the kind of place Francophiles dream about when stuck back home

We have stayed here four times now - even booked here as a family for my 50th Birthday celebrations ! An extremely peaceful location (well, once you get used to the church bells chiming directly across the road !) lovely views, clean and comfortable rooms, handy sized swimming pool with saunas and hammans , friendly , helpful staff., and as for the food ......well, this is one of the reasons we keep returning... Excellent buffet breakfast , comprehensive and extremely tasty dinners- all in the splendour of a wonderful dining room with fascinating wooden painted ceiling. Alsace region is so pretty to explore. Really worth a visit !

This was a stopover en route from Switzerland to the channel for a party of 7 (5 children + parents). We booked it partly because of the pool (which had closed by the time we arrived, at 7pm, much to the children's disappointment) and because of the accommodation configuration, which proved excellent for our purposes (junior suite: 2 separate sleeping rooms, plus a neighbouring room for 2 with an interconnecting door to a small room for one). The accommodation was basic, but clean and good value. The restaurant was more expensive, but justified by the quality - we ate a single course a la carte, from a short and innovative selection - and the children's menu (veal escalopes and home made pasta, a choice of puddings from the main menu all for E10/head, plus an amuse bouche of mussels in foam for those of them brave enough to try it) went down a treat. The provision of Alsatian (and other French - but why bother?) wines by the 1/4, half or litre carafe was excellent. At £50/head for bed & dinner (we left before breakfast was served, from 8am on a Sunday, would have been E15/head on top) the hotel did us proud.

This hotel would be a lovely base camp to tour the Alsatian vinyards and all the surrounding history in the region. We had a very nice stay here with a very delicious dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. It is walking distance to another little village just down the road and an easy drive (pending traffic) into Strasbourg and the other little towns along the way. Highly recommended.
