We have eaten here several times during the past week while we have been holidaying in the area and can fully recommend both the pub itself, with its wonderful choice of beers and locally produced fruit juices, and also the restaurant, which serves lovely food, perfectly cooked. We've felt right at home and enjoyed some great meals, particularly the fish and chips, pork and apple pie and yummy puddings! To top it all we were always greeted by Max the dog who was happy just to sit with us while we ate, such a character! An extremely friendly pub and certainly well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

I have been to the red lion on several occasions and while the landlord is very friendly and there are some good real ales the food offering really let's the pub down. Each time I go I give the pub a chance to get it right and hope that it has improved but sadly it hasn't. The menu is very limited and basic and doesn't offer you anything you couldn't cook at home. From overhearing conversations I get the impression that there is no chef and the bar staff are doing the cooking. This explains a lot as the last meal I had there was just terrible. I really want the pub to be a success because the landlord is such a pleasant guy but they really need to sort out the food offering.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were disappointed with your meal. We would like to point out that the bar staff do not do the cooking we have a chef and experienced cook who both work in the kitchen. Our food is of a consistently high standard , and we feel that you should have conveyed your concerns at the time of eating.

I was travelling with a colleague towards Hereford and pulled in to a pub hoping for supper. "We don't cook on a Monday" said they, so on we went, and at the next village the Red Lion Inn hove into view. Its a pretty pub with easy parking. We were warmly greeted, and welcomed with the information that they cook fresh and local and would be pleased to serve us from the main menu or form the specials board. And they had a gorgeous dog, Max, who somehow made the place even warmer and more welcoming. We both ordered the burger, made from local beef and served with real salad and some chips. It was truly a good burger, thick and juicy and not overcooked. I have high standards for burgers and they were absolutely met.

All was presented with aplomb, and with that deft level of friendly service that comes from experience and from the certain knowledge that you have brought together a fine looking inn that provides a great supper. Thanks and well done. I'll look out for the Red Lion Inn when I return in a month or so.

We went here on recommendation from our B & B so glad we did. We had a lovely warm friendly greeting from Andy and Max the dog ( he is gorgeous) The first night we had fantastic food and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. We decided to return the 2nd night as we had a Birthday to celebrate. We had a quiet word with Kim about a cake and it was no problem she made a superb chocolate cake for our celebration it was really nice to find some genuine friendly hosts nothing was too much trouble and our celebrations were made extra special. If you are visiting the Malverns you must eat here!
Thank you Andy and Kim ( love to Max )
