“Guest services staff went above and beyond”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2010

My partner and I have stayed at another location the past two years for our anniversary and have had less than pleasurable experiences, to say the least!! We had almost decided to give up celebrating in this manner (jacuzzi suite) and admit defeat, but Heidi and her guest services staff went above and beyond to ensure that not only did we try their location, but were treated like royalty. The staff knew it was our anniversary and wished us so upon check-in. We had the jacuzzi suite complete with an electric fireplace which topped off the ambiance of the room. They took care of every detail and then some! It was the first snowstorm of the season and the hotel was full of Bantam B hockey teams, but we were in our own little cozy heaven! Thank you for a much needed weekend of R & R!

I called the Inn and booked our room and was told that they were almost full due to a convention, OK, I can handle a convention in the hotel. What I cannot handle is the number of hockey teams that were in the hotel. Kids rans through the halls screaming until 2:00 in the morning. The parents had a party in the hallway. This was not the Holiday Inn's fault. What was the Holiday Inn's fault was that they did not have enough staff on duty or backup available. When I complained, I was told "we are doing our best". As I was checking out, I again complain to have the front deck people tell me that they hotel guests were out of control and threatened the hotel staff. If this was the case, why weren't the police called and the trouble makers put out. I am a regular Holiday Inn Express Client and I am very disappointed in how this was handled from beginning to end.

A new hotel, not particularly well located. Long and unpleasant walk to stellarton (alongside a freeway) but this was actually a blessing in disguise, as stellarton looked very sleepy so on the one night we were there we ended up driving to new glasgow and having a decent meal out. Considering this location it is surprising that there is no restaurant/bar on site. The room was the highlight, very clean, spacious with a great big comfy bed. You could even open the windows! However as others have noted, the soundproofing is poor, you can hear pretty much all the activity in rooms around you. On top of this, the construction work outside starts very early and looking at how undeveloped the immediate area is, could well go on for a while. When we mentioned this in passing when checking out (as it was probably not the hotel's fault so we didn't complain) the receptionist seemed suprised and pretty much ignored our comments. The hotel has a very small gym and a little pool, with a little bizarrely, a water slide! Complimentary breakfast was much appreciated and enjoyable. A good hotel, just a shame about the noise!

We were greeted by friendly knowledgeable staff. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely be staying at this hotel whenever we are in the area and will recommend it to anyone traveling to Nova Scotia.

This new hotel is very nice, large beds, spacious rooms, LCD tvs; however, the walls are very thin or have no insulation. We were woken up quite early by the people simply walking above us. We could hear someones cel phone ringing in another room like it was in our own room. It is in a new area, on a new road a little out of the way...but from the looks of things it will be developed soon. We paid $122 plus tax for the night which was a great rate for the hotel however not for the amount of sleep we were able to get from the thin walls :( Also there was no mini fridge in the room which usually Holiday Inn's have, we had to resort to putting ice in the garbage can.

From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty . Marlie was our deskclerk and she was very pleasant and efficient. We asked about a restaurant close by and she printed us up a list of restaurants. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The pool was quite large and a pleasant temp.Breakfast was really nice with fresh cinnamon buns. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely stay again..

Although this hotel is not situated in a particularly nice area, the facilities are good and the hotel staff are friendly. It is a brand new hotel, very close to one of the main roads in Nova Scotia, and thus is an ideal stopping off point if you are travelling through the province. Very comfortable and reasonable.
