“Very friendly and welcoming”
Reviewed 5 May 2010

Stayed here for one night in April while visiting the blackpool area. Very friendly place and very helpful.

Nice comfortable room, a good size and with character. Lovely breakfast and a tour of the farm was provided afterwards which was nice to see.

We did not want to stay in the centre of Blackpool as preferred to escape from all the noise so this is an ideal location as only 15/20 mins away if planning to visit Blackpool.

Went to a local restaurant for dinner that had been recommended which was also very good.

Would return again if in the area.

I booked this based on the previous reviews and I have to say that staying here made our weekend. We've stayed at fancy hotels before but service and attention to detail is everything. The room was spacious to say the least and spotlessly clean. We stayed two nights and the room was neatened up in between. The room had everything we needed, with a spare blanket in the wardrobe (which wasn't needed) and a double seat next to the tea and coffee tray. John and Susan were great, very friendly and accommodating. The tour around the farm animals made us feel like old friends and the time spent with the german shepherd puppies was priceless. John was so hospitable that when we went out for dinner he offered to arrange for the pub landlord to bring us back to the B & B so that we could both have a drink and said he would drive us to collect our own car in the morning!
The stay will always bring back fond memories and we will return again with a puupy of our own to experience some of the beautiful countryside walks.

John and Susan warmly welcome all their guests into their farmhouse, which is in a beautiful country setting, about five miles from Preston. All the rooms are comfortable and spacious, with clean, fresh bedding and good bathroom facilities. John took us out to see the farm animals, including his dogs and horses, which was a big hit not only with the children but with a few of us adults too. The children even gathered up the fresh eggs for our breakfast. The weather over our weekend was appalling however the farm was always lovely and warm. John's breakfasts were enough to keep you going until tea time, and he caters for non-meat eaters as well as serving a full English for those that can manage it. And service always came with a smile - and often a song, too.

I stayed here a couple of times for a couple of nights midweek. This is a real B&B, not a pub. The owner and his family moved into the barn when they developed it and sold the farmhouse next door. The location is on a country road that sees a bit of traffic in the rush hour.
It can be quite hard to find but is well worth it.
The owner - a farmer - is exceptionally friendly and helpful and cooks the excellent full English breakfasts.
Rooms are large and comfortable although the bathrooms are small and mine had the smallest sink I have ever used! Otherwise perfectly comfortable with everything you require.
There are good pubs for meals and real ale within a short drive.
The low price and friendly hosts are what make this B&B such excellent value.

  • Liked — Friendly host, great breakfast, fantastic value
  • Disliked — Small bathroom, tiny sink
