I recently had my bachelor party at Surfcosta and spent 5 nights with all of my best friends and close family. Bryan, Sean and Ariel made sure we never skipped a beat of fun and relaxation.
The hotel is very comfortable and was easily able to sleep all 15 of us. I believe the hotel can sleep up to nearly 30 though. The rooms were the perfect temperature - which is something hard to achieve given the 90 degree heat in the middle of the jungle!
Bryan, Sean and Ariel have all the local knowledge and were able to set us up with a ton of activities - sport fishing, surfing, booze cruise, ATVing, zip lining, crocodile tours and night life.
If you are looking for a well-rounded trip (sports and other recreational activities, awesome food, and a good night life experience), you must book with Surfcosta!
As part of a long destination bachelor party, myself and 14 other of my mates came down to SurfCosta by recommendation of a friend. Brian, Sean, and Ariel helped us find everything we were looking for and then some. For surfing, they got us to the best waves with stellar boards. For fishing, they hooked us up with a captain they knew and the boys had a killer offshore outing (2 blue marlin and 4 sailfish). For general exploring, they got us linked up with great ATV tours, party boats, nightclubs, and zip lining.
To top it all off, every day they took us to the most insane restaurants. Places we safely never would have found without the local knowledge. This is an amazing spot that's a little off the radar with some of the best hosts a crew could ask for.
My husband and I went on our honeymoon at Surf Costa. We were greeted by Sean at the airport and made our way to the Surf Costa property. Sean was super friendly and made us feel at home immediately. We stopped at a grocery store to grab some snacks and drinks for our room, and also stopped to get a bite to eat at a local spot. My husband and I spend 5 days with the Surf Costa family. We hiked, went on an ATV tour, visited a wildlife refuge, snorkeled off of Isla Tortuga, did a catamaran cruise, had banana boat rides, zip lined, jumped off waterfalls, stand up paddled through the mangroves, and so much more.
For dinner, Sean was happy to recommend several local spots to my husband and I, and each place had delicious food and drinks. Sean drove us to the restaurants and would pick us up when we were done. It made the entire experience so much more relaxing knowing that we wouldn't have to worry about getting a cab after dinner being that neither myself nor my husband speak any Spanish.
My husband and I spent the second half of our trip at Villa Caletas, and while it was beautiful and luxurious, we truly missed Surf Costa. Not only the adventure, but the people! Keep in mind: Surf costa is not a luxury resort, so if you are expecting mints on your pillow, look elsewhere. The rooms at Surf Costa were still clean and our room was very spacious. We had our own kitchen and were situated nicely in a jungle-like settling.
After my husband and I left Surf Costa for our "mints on the pillows" hotel, we actually arranged to meet back up with the Surf Costa crew even after our stay was up so we could still do some tours with them. Sean, Arielle, and Bryan are all wonderful.
We had a blast and couldn't have asked for a more awesome honeymoon! We would recommend this to anyone! This would be perfect for a couple, a solo traveler, a couple of friends, or a large group!
Beautiful terrace in wood and swimming pool, very spacious house inside as well,
Very easy and pleasant to talk with Jason before and with all the people that were on the spot. Thank you for everything.
Sean, Ariel and Bryan have designed and created a place with buildings and landscaping that allow one to enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna of Costa RIca. They make it like a home and you are treated like family. Sean was our guide and he bent over backwards in order to find memorable experiences for us. This made it one of our all time favorite trips. He is a very knowledgable guide but he also made the effort to find phenomenal guides wherever we visited who were "sub specialists" in their area. We saw Manual Antonio but the off the beaten path tours that Sean arranged were one of the things that made the trip so special. We did a night hike in the Rainmaker Preserve, discovered the Sierpe River in a night boat ride, snorkeled at Isla del Cano, experienced Jose's croc river tour and more.
We stayed in the poolside room. It had everything one needs and was clean, private and comfortable. Food everywhere was good but Ariel is a great cook and we often chose to stay "home" . In fact, this was the first time of many worldwide trips ( we are 64 ) that we arrived back at our lodging and felt like we were coming home. We will return to Surf Costa and our Costa Rican friends ASAP.
I come from the service industry and the personal service was amazing. Our group was driven to beautiful locations that catered to our likes, complete with inside information and fauna sightings. Our adventures were about the local environment and supporting the local economy. From breakfast on the beach or at "home" with eggs from the chickens around us, to a dip in a remote pool at the bottom of a waterfall; farmers' markets, sea kayaking, reading on the beach, snorkeling, feeding the monkeys at home .... can't wait to return.
