My husband and I stayed in Kinnitty Castle with 2 friends of ours from Texas who had never been to Ireland and wanted to see castles. They were thrilled with Kinnitty as were we. The staff were really friendly, The food was excellent and the service professional and warm and friendly. The rooms were exactly what we expected - big spacious rooms with big furniture and lovely old world baths.

I would definitely recommend this to you if you are looking from something different. A great experience that I would certainly do again.

I have always wanted to stay in a castle and was not disappointed. Beautiful location, great service, lovely food. Bed was so big and comfortable, slightly noisy (thin walls) but would most certainly recommend it. Very romantic and worth a visit.

Gorgeous hotel in great setting. Attended a wedding food was lovely and service great. The place could do with a good clean though! I'm all for old world charm but a hotel should still meet standards. The beams on the ceiling in our bathroom had cobwebs that looked like they were left over from Halloween. The windows were so dirty we couldn't see out and if you ran your finger over the pictures a good layer of dust could be found! Even around the hotel tables were sticky and mops and hoovers must not reach into corners there. Towels and linen were hard and scratchy needing some softener. The staff make this place they were pleasant and helpful. Was so excited to stay here but don't think I'd return.

Dear Chefmrs21,

Thank you for your feedback in relation to your recent stay at the Castle. We are pleased that you enjoyed the food and service at the Wedding you attended, as we pride ourselves on these.

In relation to your comments about house keeping, as you can appreciate this is an old building and one that requires continuous upkeep, we will look into the issues that you raised.

And we do hope you will re consider and come to the Castle in the future.

This review is of the Sli Dala Restaurant and the food that is served in it.
A party of three drove down for the dinner menu. We arrived without a reservation but one was made without any bother and we took a drink in the lounge.
The service in the restaurant (Anne - I think) was excellent, efficient, unfussy but pleasant and friendly.
The menu is full of temptation.
We all had the three course dinner and we each took a different starter and each one impressed.
Mains one of us had a fillet steak (Blue) cooked to perfection.
One Monk fish wrapped in Parma, which was delicious.
One Duck dish cooked as requested, tasty and beautifully presented.
The deserts were ok without being fantastic but sufficient.
Overall a very very good food experience and we agreed Kinnitty castle is now on our menu.
We considered the bill to be fair and good value for money.

A small point was the number of children running around the Hotel, hard to listen to but at least they were not in the dining room.
We would agree with a lot of the previous comments on maybe a little more T.L.C. in the Castle itself but appreciate the task involved considering the size and age of it.

Just back from an overnight stay at Kinnity castle. If you want a real castle experience, then this is the place to go!

Definitely in need of some refurbishment but it kind of adds to the feel of the place. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially the lovely Ciara at reception. Food was very good and drinks and wine very reasonably priced compared to other hotels we have stayed in. One small comment would be the lack of mini bar or water in the room. We have never stayed in a hotel that didn't have bottled water available in the room, either complimentary or otherwise. So make sure you bring some or get it in the bar before bedtime! There was a kettle and tea etc but no milk ?? Also no remote for the tv and no spare ones available and no way of turning on the tv as there was no buttons on the side!! Anyway, these couple of small things didn't take away from our night at the castle.

My husband enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting with Liam , good fun!

Went to Leap castle and it was a great experience. The most haunted castle in Europe and definitely worth a visit . It's about 20 mins away from Kinnity.

Dear Ireland Shelly,

Thank you for your review on trip advisor, we value all comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed the Authentic Castle Stay that Kinnitty Castle Hotel offers its guests.

The Castle is currently undergoing some renovations and these will continue to be rolled out into 2014, this is an ongoing process due to the nature of the building.
