Description: Giltraps Pub in Kinnitty, County Offaly, Ireland, is a landmark building in the centre of the picturesque village at the foothills of the Slieve Bloom mountains in the Irish midlands. Dating back to the seventeenth century when it was originally a hotel, Giltraps Pub is now a family run operation managed by the Clendennen family. Whether you're looking for an open fire after a days hiking or walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, attending a wedding at Kinnitty Castle Hotel, want to have the 'craic' or chat about GAA with the locals or you're simply looking for the 'perfect' pint of Guinness, then Giltraps is one of the best pubs / bars in the area to chose from. Giltraps has been awarded a number of accolades including Black & White Scotch Whisky Heritage Pub of the Year, James Joyce Pub of the Year Award and the highest recognition (5 stars) in Pub Spy Review by the Sunday World newspaper. If you are looking for accommodation in Kinnitty, whether you are attending a wedding in the nearby Kinnitty Castle or looking to explore to picturesque countryside, we also have Giltraps Townhouse & Glamping Accommodation located adjacent to Giltraps Pub which offers a range of deluxe ensuite rooms and glamping accomodation to suit everybody's needs.

“Family Fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

Very friendly staff, seemed like a fully functioning family pub which was nice with brothers and sisters flitting in and out as did the parents. Great pint of the black stuff!

“Giltraps, always perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013

Giltraps is an unassuming pub at first glance, within lies the heartland of Offaly, quiet old farmers by the fire, hardy woodsmen debating the game, or politics

Always a warm welcome and a cheap pint

“Great food and Excellent hospitality.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

I recently got married in Kinnitty and we used the facilities of Gilltraps for the drinks and food after the rehearsal and again on the morning after the wedding. John was working on both days and was extremely helpful throughout the entire weekend. He produced very good finger food on the night of the rehearsal and again on the morning after the wedding with some late breakfasts. The quality of the breakfast was superb from Johns home reared chickens and pigs.
I would highly recommend Gilltraps to anyone who is looking for great food, cosy atmosphere and excellent hospitality.

“Great hospitality here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2013

My sister recently got married in Kinnitty church and castle and so we were in this pub quite a bit over the weekend. This is a little cosy gem in the centre of Kinnitty and I would recommend it to anyone. We had finger food here which was full of flavour and there was definitely more than enough. We also had a full Irish breakfast after the wedding and it was fantastic as the produce was fresh and great quality. We even had the pubs speciality chive and cheese sausages which were delicious. Nothing was too much trouble here and they looked after us all weekend.
