“very crowded hotel but good price for convenient location”
Reviewed 14 March 2008

Hotel is one of the best price hotel near Orly airport. The rooms can not be said to be so clean because there's too much circulation , whenever we go , it is always crowded.
The location is an asset and there are frequent courtesy buses to the Orly airport so you can get in about 10 minutes.

We should have known something as up when the guy at the desk looked at us when we walked in, smiled and was quietly chuckling the whole time he was checking us in.
Here's our story.
It was myself with two friends, a mother and her son, all of us are very easy going types, who will put up with uncomfortable situations if need be. We needed a room just for one night so we decided to bunk together. I'm a small guy but my friends are big people, the son is 6'7" tall whose feet are so big that he has to take two suitcases when he travels, one just for his shoes. After using an elevator that stunned all of us into giddy laughter, (it was about 7’ deep and 3’ wide and about 40 years old), we walked into our room and with all honestly, my first thought was "What the . . .?" There we were, the three of us standing at the door, dumbfounded by a ludicrously small room. Tired from our trip, we laughed and made our way in with our luggage to inspect the place more closely. The bathroom was small even for me and I wondered what my friends were going to think. The closet was built out from the wall and was maybe 10" deep so there was no place to stash luggage. We ended stacking our suitcases on top of each other against a wall. When we reached our destination the next day, we told our friends that we had stayed at Ibis and they all said "small rooms."
When we first entered our room, we noticed outside of the large window that opened up completely, (a blessing because there isn’t air conditioning), a group of about 10 Afrikaners outside. They were there when we walked up to the hotel and there was a group that filled the sitting area in the foyer. There was luggage about and they were dressed very nicely, so our assumption was that they were waiting to leave. Not so. For not only did they not leave but as the day went on, they grew in number, as, coincidently, did the noise level. It seemed that they were having a party of some kind for there was some set-up in the parking lot where people would wander to and fro and groups would gather, eating and chatting. Then a small group of Rastafarians that joined in the fun. At some point, we looked out to see a police van and some of the people were in heated discussions with the gendarme. This went on for some time until the police left with the paddy wagon empty. There were people from the group still in the area, chatting and such, when I looked out as late as 4 AM. We never felt that there was anything dangerous or unsafe, in fact we found the whole thing somewhat entertaining.
Being without air conditioning, we left the window open and slept using earplugs.
I have to say; our stay at the Ibis Hotel at Orly Aeroport was OK but in an interesting way. It was not wonderful but then again, it wasn’t bad either. It filled our need and we woke refreshed and we ate well, but I don’t think that I’ll consider staying there again unless it’s prudent for my travel plans. I don't think this hotel should be rated using the 1-5 star method; it’s not that kind of hotel. Located amongst industrial buildings, the Ibis Hotel at Orly serves a purpose: A place to sleep and shower and food to eat. That’s it, nothing extra. Well, maybe the restaurant inside the Ibis, "Tex-Mex", could be considered "extra" but then that’s another story.

If you're even considering staying here, it's only because you have a layover at Orly or need to leave at an insanely early hour. The Orly Ibis is probably the blandest hotel in the world, and is pretty cheaply made with few services, but it is completely acceptable: good bed, clean bathrooms, totally up to standard. Note that you can easily walk to Orly Sud from the hotel, it's just about 300 meters away on a sidewalk.
