“A very basic Mercure”

Just stayed hear for a night for the 2nd time on business.
There location is in the middle of an industrial area serving the airport so no sightseeing.
I have to say that the staff are friendly enough, but service in the bar is very slow when the staff appear to be working in the restaurant too, prices are sky high and the food is poor. Possibly the most disappointing club sandwich I've ever had!
This morning we were shepherded into a group breakfast room which was extremely basic in all aspects. Not sure why as other work members were in the main restaurant?
There's is a bad smell of damp near the 200+ numbered rooms and the usual droning air con that goes on when you've turned your own unit off.
Other than that the bed was comfortable and the room clean.
Its a convenient place to spend a night if your flying from Orly, wish I could say better.

I'll keep this short and to the point:

1. This building is a scruffy looking abortion of architectural design. The corridors smell terrible - some sort of damp rancid stench. Thankfully, if you choose to stay here, you will become almost nose-deaf to this after one night. Le point zéro.

2. The rooms (according to Tripadvisor reviews) are supposed to be terrible, but mine was OK, but only just; as an Accor Platinum member, I was provided with a Privilege room. The bed was OK. The windows were filthy, and there is only one English channel. Le point zéro.

3. The restaurant is hopeless - there is no vegetarian option at all. I cannot understand the arrogance of an establishment, so close to an international airport that doesn't cater for anything other than the standard French palate, not for any allergies or dietary requirements. Idiotic.

Since there is NOTHING in the immediate vicinity, there are no other dining options. I finally managed to persuade the head waiter to remove the meat items from another dish, and I arranged to come back to the restaurant after a drink at the bar. When I returned, the head waiter refused me a table, since I was dining alone. There were plenty of tables available, but he obviously didn't want to give me a larger table than I needed, despite being given adequate notice. THIS IS A TERRIBLE WAY TO TREAT ANY GUEST, let alone an Accor PLATINUM member. I was appalled. I was, however, offered my meal in the room, which arrived cold and was revolting. -2 point.

4. Do not book a Taxi with the hotel. The cab will run the meter to come to the hotel!! So you may have 10 or 20 Euros on the meter before you commence your journey. I was told by the cab driver that the hotel sanctions this. Criminal. -2 point.

5. The only saving grace was the charming young bartender. +1 point.

6. It's not cheap, but it is nasty.

Otherwise, this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, and my status with the Accor group was obviously not appreciated. To call this a Mercure is idiotic at best.

This is a horrible, horrible place, and the only way you will derive pleasure from this hotel is to watch it's demolition. If tickets are ever on sale for this, it may be the only reason for me to ever return.

You have been warned.

Regarding Le Club Accorhotels, we did pay attention to your Platinium member status, and gave you a special treatment with our Privilège room and attention upon your check in. I am concerned about your experience and wish we had the opportunity to discuss this while you were In the hotel - if you happen to stay again in a Mercure Hotel, a manager can be contacted at any time, dialling 2424, from your room.

At last, we can assure you that, in France, hotels have no control or action upon taxi’s costs!? I am very surprised that you might consider that we could have any responsibility upon this point. I would have appreciated that you mentioned this matter truly to the Tripadvisor readers!!

I hope you’ll give us the opportunity in the future, to show you our hotel on a better approach.

Rooms are average size, clean air conditioning so so. The strangest thing was the lift-it was like some kind of freight elevator with no ceiling. Very weird and slow. Just a place to lay your head. Nothing special at all, but you really wouldn't expect anything special at an airport hotel anyway. A note of caution-if you are finding the hotel with gps, the town is not Orly. Can't remember the name of the town, and it's not on the reservation confirmation, but be sure to get it if you're using gps.

This is not up to the normal standard of a Mercure Hotel, by accident we went to the one in Rungis, which by comparison was a palace to this one. However the staff were very nice, the restaurant was a bit slow opening, but the food was good.

The rooms were average and a little tired looking, wifi worked fine though, as it was only for one night,it was ok.

Room Tip: Use the Mercure at Rungis, much better and now that much further away.

I had travelled to France for a short holiday and the stay in this hotel was for 2 days. I would suggest this hotel for a short stay. As I had travelled as a tourist, I'm not too much aware of the facilities .But overall the services are pretty cool!!

Very good hotel close to all airport facility, silent, confortable and clean. Connected with city centre by a tramway line and to the airport by shuttle bus running every 20minuts. Mercure standards are all respected.
